im afraid we may have some bad news. a while back, the boss wanted to cancel the tournament without giving me any reason. guess we’ll have no choice but to do it behind his back again.
Khiem, you need to be more careful about what you say or ask for to the boss. your relationship with him is seriously dropping what with all of the game requests and the constant compliants of sticks and buttons busted. you gotta realized that these things cost a lot of money, he’s not actually the owner of the company, and lets not forget that lots of ppl who are scrub/good/pro bang/smash/mash the living daylights out of these sticks, so know wonder they’re busted all the time. anyways, first, get to know the guy, be on his good side, make him laugh if you have to inorder for him to gain your trust, then thats when you can start(slowly…) asking for those requests. and as for that messed up sticks, you prolly dont know this but the guy has to come almost every early in the morning( since the tech guy retired) to fix whatever’s written from God knows how long he’s travelling… and when thats done, he heads all the way back to his office only to find out that there’s another problem with the machine, that will driven almost anyone crazy, x10 counting the other places he goes to fix.
so, be compassionate the next time you ask for something, make sure to thank him when he comes by to fix things(and that goes for all of you as well) or when he brings you your cheque. otherwise, he may not listen to you or worse…
I’m curious, are you saying that because the boss said or did something that shows this? If so, what happened?
Oh, for tournament needs, I might have a backup plan. I live in a coop (whatever the fuck it’s named in english, I dunno) and we have access to a community room for our own needs, it’s only $20 to rent, I could easily cover the cost myself even when I’m broke.
So yeah, if we really need to and if people are willing to come to Gatineau (although parking space is limited, you guys can always park at the Promenades or the Galleries and walk back here, it’s not like the cops are going to give you a ticket for it), we can do it at the community room if I’m allowed to rent it for a tournament. I wouldn’t want drama to start at the Cave just because the owner is pissed about us not listening to him.
He gets mad at customers because the machines arent in working order? Reporting broken stuff should not be a problem. thats his job to maintain them or have a technichian maintain them, its a buisness suppy and demand, if shits always broken people wont show up and the arcade closes down because we gather somewhere else and play for free
Uhhh… I hate to break it to you man, but in the end, he does hold all the cards. If the shit costs more to repair than he makes off of it, it’s not worth it for him. It is business, but not just supply vs demand, but also marginal cost vs marginal profit. He will pull games that are costing him more than he makes off of. Just a little FYI, cause it would suck to lose the cave.

alas either way no matter what happens the no tournament rule is really hurting the community. Also im not a fan of going to the cave to find out every game is broken all the time, half the time i go im playing PS2 with ahmed more than the machines
It may be his business but he has no idea what the fuck he’s doing.
The amount CvS2 makes in 2 days would cover a new set of buttons and sticks. That would save him a lot of trouble i.e. the 3 or 4 times he had to fix it since it’s been to OU. I mean a new set usually has no issues for a year if it’s wired right. If time is money; then he’s fucking himself. Also, if he’s complaining about having to fix it or people complaining he should take these obvious measures to change that…or maybe he just likes to complain.
The worst part is SF3 next gen has a perfect set up with new controls and SF3S and CvS2 are constantly being stuck with random parts from the last decade.

I remember two years ago, tech guy only came once or twice a week, on a specific day. If a button broke just after he left, you can bet it would still be broke for more than a few days. Now that the guy is fixing things more regularly, I like to assume that all the repairs are indeed worth it for him, and that he’s just complaining because people like to bitch about their job.
