Planet Hulk was one of those stories I wanted to collect and then next thing I knew 4 issues went by… so I’ll be picking up the Hardcover for sure. I did read Giant Size Hulk #1 which reprented Peter David’s Hulk The End story, best damn The End story ever. Hope that makes the HC.
Taskmaster - Devin Grayson needs to die… but with my luck she’ll sign an exclusive deal with Marvel and take over the Mary Jane book after McKeever leaves so she can explore Peter Parker and Harry Osborne’s ‘special’ relationship…
It’s possible that Skeetes hooked up with the Stygian Passover dudes and is laying out the red carpet in some way. All I can say is it feels like there’s another Infinite Crisis on the way…
I believe the last Avengers to be revealed will be
NNA
Spoiler
Black Costume Spider-Man, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
52 might ship late this week in the US at least, so whoever had this issue on the delay lottery, you win.
For the sake of discussion, here’s my pull list, so to speak.
So far I’m really interested in DC’s stuff. 52 continues to interest me, reviving some of its B-List characters and making me care about a lot of them. Both JLA and JSA are just excellent; beautiful artwork and intriguing mysteries for both opening arcs. I think Beetle’s picking up, and I should probably be picking up Manhunter to see more of the earlier Beetle. Darwin Cooke’s art is the major selling point of The Spirit, and he’s versatile as a writer and artist. New Frontier, Superman Confidential, and his issue of Solo are all awesome work. Tales of the Unexpected is great; I’m not actually drawn in by the Spectre stories, but Dr. 13’s back up adventures are too ludicrous to miss out on (involving French cavemen, vampires, magic pirates, ghost Confederates, and talking primate nazis, and a post-Wigger Mage Traci Thirteen).
I don’t need to extol the virtues of Y: The Last Man. But Scalped’s an interesting look at crime drama and native American reservations, so I recommend it if only because the subject matter is somewhat novel. Also, American Virgin’s got the same art I loved from Demo (courtesy of Becky Cloonan), but I can tell that there’s a lot of heavy criticism for conservative evangelicals. It’s a little offputting because I’m very familiar with those arguments, and Virgin comes off as a little… preachy. It’s still a worthy book though.
Civil War thus far has been disappointing, and its sad to see such a mediocre event affect the stronger books that it seeps into. New Avengers was hitting a stride before being derailed, and Iron Man’s Pro-Reg side keeps getting portrayed as totalitarian douches, making it clear which side you want to root for from the beginning. It’s frustrating to see it drag out too, due to continuous delays. That Civil War isn’t finished yet is unacceptable. Fortunately, a few of the books I followed before the war were able to adapt to it with grace; She-Hulk, X-Factor and Cable & Deadpool had interesting contributions to the story. My other favorite books under Marvel completely sidestep Civil War to begin with, including Runaways, Power Pack and Nextwave.
I’m looking forward to The Loners. I loved the opening arc of Runaways v2.
No one had this week, sorry. The closest is Deathscythe who has week 45. We are going by exact week only. SO CLOSE TO ROBBY L’S ARTISTIC MASTERPIECE YET SO FAR AWAY…
In case you didn’t know Smallville is gonna have a fake Justice League episode this week - Clark teams up with past guest stars Flash, Aquaman, Cyborg and Green Arrow. Should be fun. Still wish they had a young Bruce Wayne and a young Wonder Woman in Smallville land but oh well…
True enough, but Bendis had Dr. Strange claim “There is no Chaos Magic!” and just because he said it it’s now true contradicting hundreds of comics. Dr. Strange’s voice under Bendis = Superboy Prime’s Alternate Reality Bending punches!
Seriously though I think he’s gonna write Strange like Avengers Scarlet Witch as a guy…
So, about 52. Some people (aka Wikipedia) are claiming that 52’s big secret is that the Multiverse still exists, thus rendering Infinite Crisis pointless.
