Other Publishers and General Comic Book Discussion Thread

Word. Post Infinite Crisis sucks hard. Except for a few books. And by few, I mean the ones I read: Nightwing, Green Lantern, Green Lantern Corps, Detective Comics and JSA.

You like Nightwing OYL? That was the worst OYL series imo.

You can tell the issues were thrown together in two minutes and rushed out to print.

Teen Titans OYL is a great book since IC.

Nightwing’s being written by Wolfman now so it’s been much better for the past few issues. I didn’t think the Bruce Jones OYL arc was so bad, anything’s better than Devin Grasyon. Worst OYL books for me were both Superman and Batman. Superman was still doing that “you must buy every Superman issue that comes out this month to get the whole story” and Batman was just boring… thank ye gods for All Star Superman and Detective Comics…

The Green Lantern books are in my monthly…so it Teen Titans.
But I agree, DC got messed up during IC.

Just when I was liking Cassandra as Batgirl…they fuck her up, same with Superboy.

Hell Yes. Grayuson actually wanted to turn Nightwing gay. Now, I have no problem with homosexuals, but Nightwing is just not gay.

cues questionable 60s batman covers

As long as DC Comics has Vertigo they will still be number 1 in comics.

The only post-IC stuff I have read so far is Superman Up Up and Away which was good as a stand-alone movie tie-in but not as a follow-up to IC. Looking forward to the first Titans trade later this month though along with JLA and JSA when they eventually get going. I think Checkmate, Secret Six mini, and Shadowpact have also been strong post-IC

So far 3 of 8 members of post-civil war New Avengers lineup have been revealed.

Bendis can shove New Avengers up his ass as far as I’m concerned.

Pulling the same lame stunt, with the same characters no less.

i just dont understand why he is the writer on both books

I would think they would keep him on New Avengers and then get someone with a more classic style for Mighty

Avengers are th new X-men. That shit sells insane amounts as far as I know.

And because of that he;s still seen as Marvel’s wonderboy.

An the teams dont make sense to me.

MA has the Sentry and Ares on the same team. They also have Wonder Woman, Ms Marvel and Iron Man.

NA so far has Ronin, Echo, probably Luke cage, Captain America. All street level, power wise except for the most current addition.

Sean McKeever is going to DC for a year? Ah, bummer. Well as long as he’s still pumping out top notch stories, that’s cool.

So I was on wiki a few days ago readings bits about some of the DC characters and I read a bit about Wonder Woman. The article even talks about her Earth-2 counterpart and I saw the picture. Shudders  Why? WHY is Diana STILL wearing that same armor when she’s at that age? Shudders

I started watching my Season One DVDs of Justice League Unlimited. Man, I love this show. A few eps I’d never seen before like “Ultimatuim” and “Dark Heart.” Seeing Part 1 of “The Once and Future Thing” again, I actually like that ep. When I first saw it a few years back, I didn’t really care for it until Batman Beyond, Static and Warhawk showed up at the end. But now, Part 1 is a good ep to me. However, Part 2 is still superior. Seeing Terry Batman, old Bruce Wayne and present day Batman together, man that was awesome.

Oh and old Bruce > present day Batman. Part 2 of “The Once and Future Thing” proves it.

-Present Day Batman: Hanging Jokerz thug from building Where’s Cronos? My arm is getting tired.
-Old Bruce: I can’t believe I was ever that green. Grabs thug and thows him down THIS is how you interigate someone Raises cane with an argy look on his face

Speaking of green, I didn’t quite like just how green they portrayed Terry in part 2 of “The Once and Future Thing.” I know he’s young and all, but eating it at the hand of the Dee Dee’s?!? Give him just a little more respect.

Anyhoo, I actually bought the Season 1 JLU set mainly for that episode and Epilogue (huge Batman Beyond fan) which more than made up for it. There are also a few more personal favorites included such as “Divided We Fall” (Flash taking apart Brainiac/Luthor FTW!) and “The Greatest Story Never Told,” which is cool.

Why would Doctor Strange join the Avengers?

Having him there makes no sense. He can end every battle with a damn sentence. He has more important things to do.

Marvel is retarded. Nothing has happened during Civil War either. I’m starting to not like mainstream comics anymore. Vertigo and image ftw. FABLES 111111!!!111!!

As much as I love my boy Dr. Strange, I still don’t get it with him being on the New Avengers roster. Granted, I’m digging the respect he’s been getting lately, but, Illuminati might as well just have told us “Hey kids! Watch out for Dr. Strange in the New Avengers in '07!”

Damn it, Bendis. Damn it, Marvel. New Avengers in '06(pre Civil War) was pretty good. Although, nothing tops Geoff Johns run on the book in '05.

That was just normal Avengers wasn’t it?

Red Zone and the Return of She Hulk right?

In like 12 issues he made the avengers ultra badass.

Brought back red skull, made hawkeye a fucking PIMP, and had Iron Man get punked out by Black Panther.

Why does Geoff Johns own so hoard?

JL and JLU are some of my fav cartoons of all-time. I’m also a huge Batman Beyond fan and I agree he could have gotten more respect than death by Dee Dees. Even with all that gray, Static still seemed pretty young and it was good to see him still joking around. He seemed even better older than when he was younger for some reason. Maybe he was more powerful. After seeing Hal Jordan for a very short time in that ep, I gotta say, they made the right decision to go with John Stewart. Hal is even more of a boy scout than Supes.

Overall, after seeing the entire season one of JLU, there really wasn’t a single ep I didn’t like. I even warmed up to “Hawk and Dove” and I wasn’t crazy about that ep the first time I saw it. One of the best things about JLU is since it had so many heroes, many of them got time in the spot light. I have a lot of respect for Green Arrow and Black Canary. Booster Gold even get his own ep, which I really enjoyed. And The Question, oh The Question. Dude is a bad mofo. I was surprised to see he actually had a face.

Glad Captin Marvel got to be in one ep, even if it was only one, he was in one of my fav DCAU eps, “Clash.” I watched it last night and it was only my 2nd time ever seeing it. My memories of that ep don’t do it justice. You have to SEE this ep to really get the whole picture. I’ve never seen Superman fight like this in any animated show. Not even against Darkseid. Supes just went NUTS on Captain Marvel. My jaw dropped all over again.

We should make a list of the top 100 DCAU eps. I bet “Clash” ends up in the top 5. Oh and DCAU fans, mark your calenders. March 20th, 2007, Justice League Unlimited Season Two and Batman Beyond Season 3 release on DVD. Both of those are gonna be bought on that day by me.

Red Zone and Return Of She Hulk is correct. I think he had something scheduled with Ultron(I think), but, at the time DC realized he beasted so HORD on both universes that they made him exclusive.

Geoff Johns > Bendis. No lie. My boy made the Flash fucking awesome. Murmur alone was just awesome. Now he’s just a tool in the current Flash run(pardon the pun).

Bendis isnt even that good. He’s been garbage for a long time IMO, and shouldnt ever approach a team based book.

Never said he was. Powers is his best written material, though. Ultimate Spidey has its twists and turns. Its good. But, some issues just fall flat in the delivery.

Daredevil was awesome though when he was writing it. And that was about it.

Ed Brubaker vs. Geoff Johns. They need to fight at a comic con already.
