Awesome!
What part of town?
Can’t make it, I planned on taking Sunday off to go to the St. pete Tournament. Jesse, I can’t help you man when you arrange to have tournaments 6 days before they are going to happen. So I wish you luck again with this one.
SMH too sort of notice…btw I wanna roll to the ST. Pete tourney im riding with you, not taking no for an answer
No problem. So far it’s me and Ian planning to go. It is an Hour and 40 minute drive just a headsup but still should be fun with a nice road trip. We’ll talk before then.
Is bbcs going down? cause if it is then can i ride?
I’d honestly ask the Tampa Thread. I remember they posted I think on the facebook event page they’d only have BBCS if all the Orlando people showed up assuming nobody in Tampa plays it. So not sure how appealing it’ll be if you just want BBCS out there.
Oh yeah and can someone duplicate my Rocky’s Tourney thread on Dustloop, still til this day that damn website won’t let me register for everything I’ve tried, Work computer, iphone, iPad, Home pc and 2 laptops lol.
yeah bro i can’t make this one either due to the short notice. It’s usually best to set these up at least a month in advance.
I think its called winter park, I’d have to double check.
but yeah I should be there around saturday so aside from tournaments, if you guys have meet ups or ranbats or anything like that I’d like to get in on it
This will also limit your ambiguous U2 setups like sweep-fadc-ultra or PC-ultra. U2 was like an ST-Claw Walldive (better, actually) if used correctly; you can even wiggle it back and forth as you land on your opponent. You can also punish a lot of stuff on the fly that will be harder now that you need charge; I like the idea of having non-charge motions on charge characters because it “frees” you from holding (down)back the whole game, so you can focus on spacing and footsies without worrying about your lost charge. Guess Capcom thought it was too OP for Bison.
Chun-Li. FP (far, close, and crouching) is a one-button-AA against Balrog. Non-ex dash punches are all unsafe to super; they’re also like -3 at best, so you can punish with jab, but even if your jab won’t reach, he’s still minus. You can also shut down non-ex dash punches with broken-ass pokes like s.jab and s.strong; s.fierce or s.rh keeps them on the ground. Just watch out for ex-dashpunches through pokes; if they use meter too recklessly, then you can try to bait them and waste their meter.
It still gives +frames, so you can do mixups off it. Not really better than knocking down; it’s just different.
alright made thread
oh right i figured i might as well ask anyway… are there gonna be official team tournies there too?
Honestly I was not fond of the U2 as offensive 50/50 thing except in extreme do-or-die situations. If you’re already mindfucking your opponent (not that easy with a straightforward pressure character like Bison, IMO…and if you HAVE been fucking their confidence with nothing but naked Bison aggression, they’re probably doing something VERY wrong or are playing a character who’s screwed against Bison anyway), then I guess you’d get more mileage out of teabagging them with it on untechable knockdown, but in an even match, fuck no. I’m saving that shit for reaction punishment or combos. Shit’s way too much of an ace in the hole in tense Shoto matches to throw away on a mere 50-50 when I already have the initiative. And as for matches where fireballs aren’t an issue, I’d almost always prefer U1 for punishment/juggle/crumple combo purposes. If there aren’t fireballs to keep me out, the speed, invincibility, and damage of U1 will almost certainly serve me better in some capacity.
Still, I don’t really see the point of making it a charge motion; Bison has to abandon charge to get offensive spacing against people all the time anyway. It was nice to have something in my back pocket that actually made people rethink their fireballs when my Ultra bar lit up, given how punishable Bison’s quick-meter-gain option (singular, whiff Devil Reverse) is when you’re getting kept out.
Honestly, I’m still not sure if I care any more about SSF4 except as a formality. I keep plateauing HARD with my conservative (some would say cowardly) Bison and no other character in the cast really interests me enough to spend the time learning. (I’ve tried Balrog, who would require perhaps the least adjustment from Bison, and he just doesn’t do it for me.) Even when the new characters hit, I think I’d honestly rather just get ready for BBCS2 (they gave up on a new dumb subtitle? or perhaps they’re still brainstorming one that’s silly enough?), MvC3 and (dare I hope) KOF XIII.
I feel like I wasted my money on BlazBluer when BlazBluest is right around the corner.
"There was a gief player there that was constantly hitting the 5 game win streak limit, so I talked with him for a bit while in line and he really likes the fact that ex green hand does not knock down anymore. This was actually at the first location test for SF4 vanilla and it was a nightmare to deal with, and it’s just as bad now. Because gief doesn’t knock you down and he’s still at +frames, you’re going to have to make an educated guess on what to do next and you don’t have much time. I saw this gief player do ex green hand into either lariat, another green hand, spd or low jab chained into ex green hand. It’s a really strong mixup to have and I don’t understand why people see this as a nerf.
Rejoice leland Rejoice!!!
You didn’t waste your money. You will get the BBCS2 update for free from what i heard. You will still have to buy the DLC characters you want though, which isn’t much.
New costumes including Pirate RYU The Magic Box - Super Street Fighter IV New Costumes Preview (Page 1 of 4)
Yeah, I’m almost 99% sure that BB:CS2 is basically the arcade version of BB:CS + DLC.
i work sunday cant make it to st pete. hopefully you can come still to do some practice at lease.
I am totally gonna pickup Hakan after all theses buffs. :]
Would you walk into a Gamestop and buy a copy of Blaz Blue for $84?
From what I’ve seen, it’s pretty worth it; it’s no more risky than doing a reversal. Some characters can punish it harder than others, and it’s definitely worth it if whatever they can punish you with isn’t as strong as your ultra. But if you wanna play it safe, then I guess it might not be your style.
If you buy all the characters it’s $64 total.
The Math:
Price of game = $40
Individual character price = $8
Number DLC characters = 3
So $40 + $8 * 3 = $64
Or would it be better if we had to buy a whole new game like the GG series? So we get 3 new characters + all there content + game update for $24 vs buying a new disk.
