Oregon Roster & Discussion (info on the 1st page)

Hello gaming community,
First off, here at Best Bout Gaming we would like to give a big shout out to the NW fighting gaming community, and give our appreciation for the support we have received from the people and players. It’s been a great last couple of years for competitive gaming, for the first time since the early days of Street Fighter 2 the scene has achieved a new peak in terms of exposure, promotion, and popularity. Portland, Seattle, Tacoma, Eugene, and pretty much everywhere else have seen their communities expand in the last couple of years, interest and excitement over competitive gaming has been on the rise. In Portland, we have had our share of good exposure, thanks to the combined efforts of the players in the scene. Last year some of the players in the local community merged together to form Best Bout Gaming, an LLC dedicated to the promotion of competitive gaming. In the fall of 2010, we opened shop at Purest Cafe. The establishment was kind enough to let us host our public casuals, and for the duration that we were there our weekly event continued to grow with great turn outs and support from the community. At the same time, we continued to host the ongoing tournament called Slugfest at Portland’s great retro arcade Ground Kontrol. Exposure was high, and with this the scene continued to evolve. Best Bout would not be where we are now without the support of these two great establishments, we will always be indebted to them for helping us get to where we are now. A big shout out to Ground Kontrol and Purest Cafe, two great local businesses that are down for the cause! Now, without further adieu…

Grand Opening!

We are proud to announce the opening of Best Bout Gaming, a commercial location dedicated to the promotion of the competitive gaming scene. This includes fighting games, as well as first person shooters, sports games, Rock Band, anime games, and so on. Depending on the night, we will have different themed casuals, such as the reoccurring Throwdown Tuesday for fighting games. We will host a variety of tournaments on various weekends depending on the type of game. Our flagship fighting game tournament will be called Best Bout Beatdown, and will occur once a month. Our main objective is to have a location that is exclusively for the gamers, free of constraints or any other obstacles. For Portland, we hope this location will act as home base for our competitive scene, and we encourage everyone to come check it out. The layout will be similar to a gaming hall, with tables lining the walls, and consoles/set ups running various games. We will also be streaming our events, as well as shooting various video segments for broadcast and promotion on a regular basis. Our good friend Chris Nguyen has been working on a documentary that will chronicle our efforts to level up, it should be available for viewing in a month’s time or less. The Best Bout location will have regular hours of operation (to be announced) be heavily advertised and promoted in Portland area. We feel this is the next logical step for the gaming community, locally we simply are looking to offer a center point for all the hungry gamers out there. Essentially this location will act as a commercial entity, gamer’s dojo, and community resource. Here are the details;

intro

hiya everyone my name is paul just recently moved to oregon and im in the eugene/springfield area and im looking for places or people to play with such as mvc3 and ssf4 and bbcs. prefer mvc3 tho ^_^. my xbox live gamertag is Zymotic Anthony hit me up for a few rounds.

In the area for the night looking to play some games could someone direct me to a place where I could get on some sticks? much appreciated

hit me up at 334-596-8915 my name is TJ

Quick question,
Anybody in Oregon a really good stick builder?

My stick is messed up and I have no clue what is wrong with it.
I will be coming to Oregon and attending as many casuals sessions as my wedding schedule allows. (Won’t be at saturday tournament… that’s the wedding) (My parents have a spare car I can use so I can drive at least.)
So hopefully somebody will be present at one of those and help me out.

There are a few I believe.
Off the top of my head slash5150.
Either way, let your husband know we got you hooked up!

Describe the symptoms better and you’ll have a greater chance of getting a response. What kind of stick do you have? Is it modded? If so, LED or dual or both? Which of those mods aren’t working properly? Is your stick not responsive at all? Are certain buttons not responsive? Is your stick just out right not being detected by any system?

I hope you have a beautiful sunny Saturday for the wedding, btw. =D

Yo, go ahead and pm me and let me know whats up.

Also Aaron, don’t be an idiot

Hahaha, sorry to dissappoint but I’m a guy. Big hairy dude with a beard!
On top of that, it isn’t my wedding but a very close relative of mine that I care for.
The way you guys acted made me wish I was getting married though… :frowning: haha jk

My stick is a cuthulu dual mod X360 > PS3
The top 3 buttons sometimes don’t work… and when they don’t I have to press the 4th button on the top to get them to work again
the Xbox button doesn’t work when pressed, only when held down. My joystick recently wouldn’t read down left at the same time, but it just started working again right now. The Cable coming from the top of my stick got chewed up or something, and has some copper hanging out. I have put electrical tape on it, I do not know if this is the cause of anything.

Most of these problems happened prior to the top cable getting mangled.

Thanks Slash!

Impossible.

OK! in the OR
So far the only event I plan to go to is Best bout on tuesdays.
Any other place? I feel like there was mention of another one that I wanted to go to…

Also who won the tournament?
Where do they play at?

I’m wondering if you have a loose ground. My arcade cabinet uses MC Cuthulus so I can help you out quite a bit. PM me if want me to look at it.

Going to try to make it out to casuals and tournaments as often as possible from now on. Been leveling up online for a few months and realized it’s just not the same thing. I met some of you guys back in July at a tournament at GK, I was the dude with the beard playing Guile and Chun and suckin’ it up. Hope to see y’all around soon!

Also hi Matt and Mark :woot:

Big rep to Angelic showing up and hangin with us last night. We all got some really intense battles in, overall a great time. If you’re ever back up our way, you’re welcome to come back bro. Let me know how your stick comes out, hopefully I’ll play you again at EVO!

Welcome back Ethan! With that one post you’re already more active in the scene than Zeppy these days. lol

Hey guys, I talked to a guy from Eugene but I forgot his name, he was saying he wanted to crash at my place two nights to make it to Battle for Seattle…told him to PM me but he hasn’t gotten back to me yet, so hopefully he sees this…

That would be Mr. Yzae B.
