Really wish there was some way for MS to stop fucking around and expedite the patch process for known issues like this.
On Xbox: playing P4 with people who are virtually lagless in SSF4 and 3SOE, it’s an interactive Power Point presentation. Very slow, very annoying. Don’t buy it expecting serious online matches for a while.
Yea, xbox is like playing under water atm.
I wonder… how many own a PS3 knew the netplay was shitty, but still got that shit on xbox
If you own a PS3 do the right thing
i almost did, because im to lazy to have to go to my living room to get the ps3 fightsticks, where my xbox ones always above my bed on the shelf
Using superior Japanese internet tech here!
Every match I’ve had (played 100 so far) has been flawless. However I find that actually getting into a match is a fucking nightmare sometimes, with way too many “could not connect” messages compared to SF4, Blazblue, VF and Soulcalibur. I’m also getting tons of players showing up where it takes around 30 sec - 1 min for their ping to show up, and it’ll usually display 3 - 4 bars. If it’s actually that good, why the hell does it take so long for the ping back?
Played Ranked and Player matches a ton on Xbox tonight. Getting into Ranked games was always quick and painless but a lot of the time the connection has to sort itself out before the play is smooth. I noticed it helps if you let the intro cinematics before the match starts play (the shots of the stage and the characters making their entrances). Doing this wastes more time before the actual fight and gives the lag time to straighten out if you will.
i got the game 8/7, played around 9 pm PST. right when i turned on the game it asked me to DL something, i dont know what it was but so far for online experience, i got some laggy matches and some Ok ones. i hope they still try to improve it. input seems really important in this game.
Picked it up yesterday and played at about 8pm EST. Played about three games online on PSN and it was pretty good, i’m throwing chips in that they just used the Blazblue netcode but updated it in some way. Overall I am happy with it and now I just need to work on my Chie and i’m golden!
Played from 5pm - 2am CT on XBL
The slow down is not unplayable. The action still plays out, just in slow-motion, annoying but playable. I noticed input commands still worked like a charm though, however I believe it does give an advantage for grapplers/throw IMO. Please note, this is far less annoying than the lag with MVC3 and SFxT when they launched. I had a lot of good player and ranked matches on XBL, that went smooth after the first 5-15 seconds of a match.
Also, the little patch you download on XBL, someone mentioned above, was not the netcode fix… It is for something else entirely. The fix is coming just as soon as MS certs it.
All and all, a great/fun fighting game. Feels good to not have a roster of 40+ people. I have been playing fighting games since SFII USA arcade, I returned SFxT same day I bought it. P4A is worth the buy if you want a JP/Anime type fighter.
Thanks for the info ^. This game is awesome !!
I’ve played about 6 matches on 360 so far, 1 in ranked and the rest in player matches…so far 4 bars is ok…slight lag spike in the beginning of matches and when people enter the room. All in all though im having fun with the game itself and hope that Atlus releases the patch soon =]
Ahem on patch release!! this game is to good!
can anyone tell me how the lag is on ps3 and how long did it take to get a match? cause i remember when i was playing bbcs2 it took over 30 mins to find a decent connection -__-
I’m on PS3 with a North American copy. I played 5 ranked matches last night. Took around 15-30 to find a match one was laggy the rest were fine. I didn’t notice any serious lag input in the other four. This is the best netcode of any fighter I have played at launch. Tekken 6, UMVC3 and others were much worse for me at launch in comparison.
I’m actually having some trouble with the netcode. I’m playing on PS3 and finding a match seems to take forever on both player rooms and ranked. Ranked results seem to vary wildly, sometimes it takes few seconds and then sometimes(most times) a minute or two. I’ve created open lobbies where almost no one will join.
It doubt it’s my connection, too, since I’ve never had any issues with other FGs. Normally play 'em on 360 so I thought maybe it’s just the PS3, but I haven’t had any issues with VF5FS on PS3 so far… So I dunno.
The matches themselves haven’t been terrible, a few laggy ones here and there but that’s only ever 0-1 bar connections… and even then they’re not completely unplayable.
Anyone else have issues with the matchmaking side?
On PS3 here. Everything seems very smooth thus far, and this is coming from someone who normally dislikes netplay for fighting games.
It took a while for me to find a match this morning, but I assume that’s because it was only day in Europe, and Europe doesn’t have this game yet (it was 7am here on the east coast / 4am on the west). Other than that, no issues finding matches.
what type of netcode does this game have?
Is it variable input delay or rollback based?
Ok so i played a few sets on player match and then played a few with ranked matches with the new patch…honestly…no lie or hype…this is the best netcode i’ve ever had the privilege to experience…its solid on 360 now.
360 is good now. All is good. I can do timed combos properly now.
