Opening move?

heh…even daigo fell for roll super twice at absolution 2k4 :stuck_out_tongue:

in N you can power up and super on reaction to something punishable coming out

I did this a LONG time ago when I played N and hence before RC’s so I dont know how this would be practicle nowadays but back in the day if I had the meter and I saw someone twitch while I was powering up I’d super them

100% accuracy with this tactic cause you can choose whether to waste the meter or not

unless they RC…

i hold downback and i don’t let go the entire round

There’s no one tbest thing to do. If you block every time and people know this, then they can just run up and start their pressure strings, or throw you 5 times before you wise up. I also don’t think that N groove break stock thing works too well. What if they recover and block the super? Nobody can react fast enough to be able to tell when they should super and shouldn’t.

And yeah, supers to start the round are pretty dumb. If I see Guile or Balrog with lvl 3 of course I’m gonna block lol

Eagle- Walk back a bit, sometimes sj.rh or walk forward and start poking at them.

Geese- Jump back shempukken or walk back and try to get int a good range.

Bison- I dunno, I quit playing him

Sagat- Stand there for a second, s.fierce or c.fierce.

Kyo- s.RH.

The Guile sonic hurricane (or as I call it, the hoogabooga) at the start can work occasionally, but it’s by no means a good tactic or reliable in any form. I’ve caught one person with it, ever.

I guess it’s a matter of preference…i realize that there’s no one best move…since ppl will learn to counter it.

It’s more of whether you want to start offense or defense in the end.

?? If you block at the start there should be no way they can run at you…

How so? They don’t have to actually run up all the way, but they could run a little and throw out a move, then go from there. Or they could walk up and then short jump, whatever they want. You can block right away, but in a matter of milliseconds you’re already gonna have to think about what move to throw out anyway.

A little thing I do sometimes is try to punish likely whiffs. Like if I’m Cammy and fighting a shoto I wait a split second and then cannon drill and hope it hits on their cr mp recovery. I mostly just do it just to see how often it works actually, it is sort of hard to time right.

its actually quite easy…

the stock break gives you PLENTY of time to see your opponents reaction

and you’d only super stuff like a run, dash, jump, or long range poke, and also specials

break stock and super works as long as you don’t abuse. when rushing someone down, a random level 3 like that will work. and it’ll work with almost any character. as long as you don’t eat a random rc. :bluu:

I think he means that you sort of allow your opponent to start rushing you down as soon as the round starts, since you’re just blocking/walking back.

fw mk wit rolento against blanka :). its just plan funny if u catch them wen they df fp:lol:

Sicilian Defense with Captain Commando assist.

Eagle - Back Dash and coutner their first move

Blanka - Crouch and chill or j.HK

Guile - LP SB or i watch their hands, and if it looks liek they are gonna move forward I do SH. Hehehe fortunately i play where we stand side by side.

I usually walk back, to see how the opponent wants to play the round, if he walks forward ill see he is aggressive, if he goes back i see he is defensive. Naturally if I am starting against hibiki i block low, ect ect.

However i have had a problem with this because if my opponent comes in while i am walking back i lose valuable space, and mostly i wind up in the corner turteling it out. (but maybe thats what i should be doing against an aggressor) Its just that my defense sucks.

Hmn guess I need to make a defense thread.
