What is oni’s best kara throw? Best I can come up with is his s.hk, which gets you 2.5 mini squares in training mode. This is pretty nice because you can jump in mk, c.lk, c.lp and then kara throw with s.hk without having to walk forward. Since the c.lp is +3 on block, this certainly allows for some great counterhit setups. We’d be able to get a lot more if he had a kara that went even further, so I ask if thats his best.
:f:+:hp:~:lp:+:lk: seems to work fine.
only problem with that is it doesnt’ allow you to kara into a back throw if thats what you wanna use. Also, its shorter than the s.hk kara
3rd strike online? Is this a remake or a new game with the same artstyle? I’ll look it up. I’ve been out of the SF loop for a while now since I stopped SSFIV months ago…but yeah, I felt as if this would reinvigorate my street fighter passion but idk, this dlc should have been free…that’s what it feels like…However, I keep thinking that we’ll get 2 more characters because on the character select screen, theres two awkward open slots…one above yun and the other below…yang i believe…hehehe
Back on topic though…I’m finding cross up to target combo -> tatsu is a good way to get at people…but…to get a cross up, I need to get in…and to get in…is my problem. I don’t know any combos and anyways to get untechable knockdowns when I’m outside…without jumping in and eating attacks…and therefore losing…I just need to find a way to get in front of an opponent, and then have a combo to do to knock them down to start cross up madness…
sounds like you are trying to rush in, thats not gonna happen bro because indeed there is no easy way to get in so its back to basics. Use ranged footsies and safe fireballs to keep pushing to the corner, eventually you will get to the wall or yout foe will jump in on you closing the gap. So patience young padawan patience.
Electric fireballs are a somewhat good way to get in on guard and hit (dash afterwards) just dont push it, it doesnt last that long.
Also Oni players have slowly moved from trying to get untechable kd to keep your opponent standing with LK slash and move to guessing games or FADC from there because his mix up isnt that great either.
yh man, same here, I think capcom are considering to rebalance AE for 2012 so maybe there’s a chance more characters will be added, I hope for Alex or karin if there going through with it, I just know those 2 would be great in AE.

is b+mp a viable frame trap? framedata says its +2 on block, so i thought about using it on wakeups, standing just outside of DP range, for stuffing jabs and frametrapping if they block.
i cant try any of this atm, so maybe someone here knows for sure and can tell me.

still having trouble FADC-ing off of demon slash… When I do FADC my follow-ups never link, any suggestions?
:hcf::lk:, :f:,:mp:+:mk:, :f:, whatever. The manner in which you FADC matters; get that first :f: before hitting :mp:+:mk:.
Just remember to wait to hit mp+mk until the slash actually connects. This is true no matter which FADC method you use.
I’m pretty newbie so pardon my question but is Oni’s BnB c.short c.light target combo2 is that a 2 frame link? or a 1 frame link? I’m having some trouble landing it a lot of the time (just need more practice and maybe better monitor for lag)

Iirc the 1st frame is fully invincible and frames 2-8 have lower body invincibility.
is that EX or all of them

Hey gentle folk, I’m a Gouken and Ken player wanting to pick up Oni. I have a few basic questions.

Is there an agreed upon bnb?
So far I’ve been using cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.hp x HK tatsu, or x lk slash. Although it seems that the cr.hp seems slightly inconsistent. It hits most of the time but there have been more than a couple of instances of it whiffing. It seems a lot of people go into TC2 x whatever but I prefer a bnb that works regardless of crouch or stand. -
Best frame traps? Or catch for crouch techers?
I’ve just been using mp and a couple like that, mix occasionally into lk slash or lk/mk buttslam. Just wondering if anyone knows some real good ones -
Best wakeup options?
Obvious answers of block and tasteful crouch techs aside, does he have any safe options? I mean… you can’t fadc his dp on block if I recall so why bother. I through it out there if they aren’t respecting my d but that’s about it.
