Yo that’s fucking tragic.Senor Pink might be one of Odas greatest creations .
Leave it to Oda to make an antagonist that uses wrestling moves, swims through matter and dresses like a baby while spouting out hardboiled nonsense and give him a background LIKE THAT!
Damn, Whitebeard was something but we may have just witnessed the most manliest creation Oda ever put out there.
Goddamn, the feels on that one.
Now to wait for the superior manga stream translation so I know what the hell about the heal heal fruit ability.
In all honesty, I didn’t give much of crap for the first 12 pages of the chapter. However, when I read Pink’s entire flashback, I felt very bad for the guy since now I see why he wears baby clothing.
Poor guy. :’(
Those were some manly tears and a new bromance is born.
I had this on repeat as soon as the Señor Pink flashback started:
Q: Which One Piece characters have tragic pasts?
[details=Spoiler]A:
Welp, no One Piece next week.
I just need clarification on the Heal Heal fruit’s ability. You mean to tell me every time she heals someone her lifespan is shortened?
going by both translations I think that only applies to her “restore” ability. Which I guess works on non living matter since they were planning on using it on the factory.
I read it as it only being some sort of Phoenix down like ultimate ability that costs lifespan. Normal healing not so much.
same thing with how they describe the ultimate power of laws fruit tho right?..and similar to what ivankovs 'therapy" does just to the user not the receiving party
Senor Pink… Manly tears, bro.
That was a MAN’S duel.
Methinks some Heal-Heal action is about to be delivered to “one-armed bandit” Trafalgar Law at some point during this arc.
and the one legged soldier.
Naw, Law can fix himself. He’s grafted animal bodies on people in place of legs before… Pretty sure he can reattach his own arm.
Opa-opa fruit is more like bullshit-bullshit fruit.
Well it’s not surprising that they put a big ass nerf on such on something like the heal heal fruit. That shit would be unstoppable if it had no limits. “Oh shit, I just got my foot cut, no prob, I’ll just piss on the stump and presto! New fucking foot!”
“What’s that? Throat cancer? Well then just open wide while I unzip my pants…”
I just rewatched the whole Whitebeard War arc. I have a few problems.
First, Sengoku is one of the weakest leaders I’ve ever seen. Sure, he has the three admirals to manage their shit but they don’t seem to respect the chain of command in particular Sakazuki. That guy runs wild without really doing what’s best. Sengoku might have made some great strategic decisions but he ultimately put himself in a worse situation. He fucked up some major decisions that would have made it easier to deal with the pirates.
Sure he has an awesome power and is strong in his own right, why wouldn’t he call his three strongest soldiers to deal with the Blackbeards, you know the strongest dudes around, instead of having them chase the retreating pirates. That would have been best handled by the numerous vice admirals who couldn’t get involved because Sakazuki was just throwing his magma everywhere. Yeah, Teech can negate Devil Fruit powers but like we saw with Whitebeard that isn’t a guarantee he’ll win. Three admirals with strong haki control plus a fleet admiral with the power of a god could have probably stopped them then and there.
Second, haki is VERY weak here. It’s been known for a while to exist now so some of these pirates should have had better control of it. For one, why didn’t Whitebeard kill Akoiji when he stabbed him with his spear? I KNOW he has that high ass level of haki and it took three of them just to sort of slow him down. Then and there he could have taken out a huge weapon of the Navy. Yeah some had stronger haki than others but none at the time had stronger haki than Whitebeard, I believe. Shit, he almost killed Magma motherfucker if he didn’t just roll cancel the shit out of the stomp. I also wonder why Whitebeard just didn’t use conqueror’s haki from the start. Isn’t he listed as one of the people who possess it? He would have laid out 90% of the Navy from the START. Luffy did it by accident and put to sleep pretty much everyone around him. I totally believe Whitebeard has the power to control who he affects with Haki.
Third, is the Navy here to kill or to deliver justice? Because there’s no justice system in place for a fair trial. It’s pretty much whatever the Navy says goes. People allow this shit? I find it hard to believe Sengoku would put Sakazuki up as an admiral no matter how strong he is because he’s just a vindictive little putz. He has zero qualities found in an effective leader. The one thing he did that was close to smart was to spread that lie to Squard and get him to tickle Whitebeard when he was off guard.
I’m sure I have more but I’m tired of typing.
Whitebeard was strong as hell, but slowed down by old age. The whole Haki thing wasn’t quite developed at that point (Oda hadn’t figured out a visual reference for the fruit-negating powers until after the timeskip, with the iron appearance of armor-haki’d limbs and weapons), but I think even then it’s implied that it takes focus and stamina to use it. He simply didn’t have a lot of that at that point, compared to what he used to be.
I think a lot of it was just the OG Generation having to make way for the new gen of Pirates and Marines. Sakazuki just don’t give a fuck, and these old cats had to make way for the new kids…
Whitebeard and Sengoku had a friendly adversary relationship-- Similar to Garp and Roger, it’s hinted that they’ve crossed paths multiple times over the years, yet they held no real animosity towards each other… They seemed to have an underlying respect for each other. Which is probably why Whitebeard wasn’t going for kills, and why Sengoku was constantly urging the Whitebeard Alliance to surrender. It wasn’t until Ace went down, that Whitebeard actually started going in… Everything before that was just him "warming up."
I wouldn’t be surprised if neither side ever suffered a casualty in their numerous “battles”.
Which leads me to my next point. Whitebeard and Ace’s subsequent deaths shook EVERYONE. Yeah, people have died before, but never with such violence and raw impact outside of flashbacks… Sengoku probably was too in shock to think clearly and give competent orders when he saw the “invincible” Whitebeard go down.
As for the Haki, hindsight, my man… Oda has been hinting at Haki since the beginning, but I don’t believe he had it fully fleshed out until after the war arc. That aside, Whitebeard may have some fearsome Haki, but I don’t think even he could have KO’d as many dudes as Luffy did… Let’s not forget the man got backstabbed*(literally)* before the fight even began, then got half his face burned off, and suffered numerous other injuries that would have felled lesser men. Despite his manly facade, he clearly was too weakened/old to really go all out like he wished.
