The Vergo/Sanji matchup makes sense when you think about it. Vergo looks to be a master of the same technique that the CP9 crew used, and that we saw some of again in the “War of the Best” arc. Could be he’s got other tricks up his sleeve, but could also be he’s Just That Good (plus, he enhances his blows with haki).
Now pair him up with Sanji, who’s just relying on his own body, and who learned some tricks from CP9, and you’ve got a fight that should be fun to watch.

Mind you, it’s not that long since he got blasted by CC. That could easily have him losing… Or the fight could get interrupted by another Run From The Evil Gas bit, if Monet follows CC’s orders.

Oooooh yeah! I can see Sanji on the verge of defeat when he notices a piece of food stuck on Vergo and this drives him insane as he powers up to the next level since he has that “peeve” about food going to waste.

Pretty much! Two fighters with no weapons and no crazy devil-fruits going at each other with fists (er, fingers) and feet and their own trained abilities. Of course, both the Rokushiki technique and Sanji’s fire-kicks leave wiggleroom for crazy attacks, but I’m hoping for some proper acrobatics akin to the Luffy VS Lucci fight.

Based on what we’ve seen, Vergo likes to imbue Haki into his attacks, from a simple bamboo stick to his pimp hand. I was also surprised to see that Rokushiki is part of his skill set, I wonder if he’ll apply Color of Armaments to Tekkai, for additional protection? Speaking of Rokushiki, when the G-5 dudes started dropping like flies, I didn’t expect to see Shigan being the result of the carnage.

In retrospect, isn’t it odd that no one in CP9 (the super secret assassination squad) could use haki? Who are they going to assassinate that matters at all?

Everything scales. They were completely freaking badass… for the first half of the Grand Line. I’m pretty sure Lucci would still be a viable opponent for any of the Strawhats outside of the Monster Trio even now.

Makes sense for the marines to put their most powerful people in the place where you NEED the most powerful people (later on in the Grand Line), when Lucci and crew were beating down pretty much everything else in their section of the sea as it was.

The Marines control the world and half the grand line, and the biggest threads there are logia users mainly. Oda said Lucci could destroy Enel with rubber gloves, and Enel had observation Haki (Enel wasn’t a trained fighter on top of that.) Ace was a new world pirate with a bounty of over 500 million and he wasn’t trained to use Haki. CP9 spent 5 years in water 7 and probably more studying to be ship writes. Lucci had a 400m powerlevel or whatever in the lobby arc if he wasn’t docile for those 5+, him, Kaku, door guy, and ther other two would have probably been way more powerful.

Anyone else notice that Tashigi didn’t rage on Zoro like she used to? Sure, she took a swing, although Zoro even pointed out that her attack was half-hearted. She then backed down and decided to help the Straw Hat Pirates. Sure, the Marines have bigger fish to fry than settling old scores, but it’s much more than that. Remember, back in Alabasta, Tashigi wouldn’t have hesitated to try and take down Zoro, or any other member of the Straw Hats, for that matter. It probably has something to do with Smoker telling her to go by her instincts and carve out her own path of ‘justice.’

Also, I wonder how long it will be before she finds out WHY Zoro is using Wado Ichimonji?

Vergo is serious bidniz, there wasn’t even a visualization for the speed of his Shigans. Can’t wait to see Sanji beat his ass like he’s dine-and-dasher.

Sanji’s Color of Observation Haki is quite acute to the opposite sex.

The variations of Haki within the same types is quite interesting too. Notice how Rayleigh and Sentomaru’s Haki is more of a forcefield while Luffy and Vergo solidify their physiology? Both are Armaments and yet the properties are different.

I’m pretty sure the reason why Rokuougan was an attack that only Lucci could use was because it used Haki. Only those who completely mastered all the principles of Rokushiki could use it, and higher techniques like Kami-e Kaiji and Tekkai Utsugi probably utilized Haki in a more subtle form.

Sanji is about to flex hard. Sanji and Zoro need to be at least Vice Admiral level if Luffy hopes to take on Sakazuki.

Course that scales differently when you consider Garp formerly being a VA as well as Sengoku who stepped down but is probably still a VA in name.
