Hmmm…I want to say there’s a been example or two of that at least once, Wellman, but I honestly can’t think of anything specifically, much less anything where the henchman themselves survive.
Lol.
Hey, when all you have is a hammer…
Not that he’s defeated every manga villain by punching the shit out of them. He headbutted Kuro in the finishing blow and he stomped the shit out of Arlong at the very least.
One of three things might have happened on that last panel.
1.) Unlikely but still possible is a art mistake that mistakenly seems like dude’s got an explosion coming from behind him after the attack.
2.) Luffy’s punch was so sick it caused Hody’s back to explode from either a combination of Luffy’s abilities, Hody’s body (his face this chapter seemed to indicate them roids where catching up with him)or some unknown factor.
3.) Luffy’s punch was so sick it caused the worst bowel movement capable of being displayed in a all age manga.
I know the most likely is 2. but how great/messed up would it be if it was 3. Welcome to the New World kids.
YESH! Seeing how that explosion was behind Hodi’s body means that either he was punched through or the attack was violent enough to cause an internal explosion. It’s definitely Haki involved but I don’t know what sort of manipulation could do this.
The stream of steam coursing through every point of Luffy’s arm shows a lot of Gear Second’s focus being on that single limb.
Hodi will be able to get back up though, I think his transformed face is indicative of the drug going into the final stages. But he’s a dead man no matter what.
Haki + Sube could probably reflect energy or even abstracts like the effects of powers (Magellan’s poison) onto someone else.
I guess it’s weak in a high level sense because of Haki, but imagine someone with great speed and invisibility?!
In truth I think Mr.5 has potentially the most destructive power. If a dude with Whtiebeard’s strength and mentality had the fruit, it could’ve been ridiculously destructive.
After re-reading the chapter, it re-kindled my interest in the drugs. It seems like it’s a something that is actually coveted (as they said they ‘finally’ got their hands on it), so maybe it’s yet another thing developed by Vegapunk? Hopefully we get to see its origin.
It may seem crazy but something tells me that big mom is gonna put a huge bounty on luffys head for real. If the island gets wrecked her factory gets wrecked lost profits etc. We might see the emergence of real bounty hunters soon.this arc feels more like a tipping point to a bigger arc.
Yeah the way Oda is being vague about the energy steroids seem to hint that they have greater significance to the story. Like I said before, I wouldn’t be surprised if we see more “addicts” in the New World.
