I’m thinking that Luffy going to some how end up taking one of those energy steroids and then go berserk.
That would kind of suck on many levels. I don’t think Luffy can afford shortening his lifespan even more than he already has. Heck, at this rate it’ll be a miracle if he makes it past 30.
Yeah, that’s a reach. Gear 2nd is pretty much the equivalent of an energy steroid. I highly doubt there’s any remote chance of Luffy taking one. He’s already expected to faceroll the competition. I don’t see him getting any ninja buffs anytime soon.
Edit: Though I can see Chopper getting his hands on a batch of them to try and integrate them into his rumble balls. Possibly even reducing the negative effects a bit.
His Were-Deer Mode + Being Older + Energy Steroid = B-B-BROKEN!
I also do get the feeling that these Roid pills are experimental. The whole temporary effect and the fact that they shorten lifespan seem indicate this. Unless they’re used by jobber pirates all over the New World it would mean that the fishmen (who humans don’t care for) were simply test dummies.
Lol right. Chopper would be sinking islands with that shit.
I kind of get this feeling too so far. The WG pushed it on the fishmen to stir shit up and test it out. Sounds like some more familiar American history…
I think it’s definitely going to be something that continues with the story somehow though, sorta like the Skypeia dials Ussop picked up. Most of the interesting tech we’ve seen so far has been expanded upon later by the crew.
Thats over the hill in Manga years anyways…

Manga also has old centenarians that can still kick ass with 6 pack abs and ultimate martial arts techniques so…
Isn’t Jinbei in his 40’s or so now? I remember them mentioning his age at one point of the flashback i think but the math escapes me.
At this point I don’t think it matters much. Who knows how long luffy lives till however, if we consider the time frame of OP so far and how long the journey has been. Him turning 30 doesn’t really matter. Who knows if he’s even supposed to live that long anyways.
And look at him…he used to be a Captain with a 300k+ bounty…now he’s demoted to another possible member of the Strawhats…
Marinate on that Luffy is like what 17 or something…and he’s outranking Jimbei’s 40+ year old ass. I’m not calling him Mansop tier - but marinate on what’s happend to him with old age…why do you think Arlong seemed so weak comapred to the Strawhats now? He FORGOT his Fishman Karate thanks to old age. Whitebeard? They had his 50 year old ass strapped to tubes and shit trynna look swole.
You peek at 20. Even in DBZ, notice how the old ass Kai’s had to ask the younger Goku and shit to stop all the nonsense (granted Goku wsa prolly in his 30s thanks to time skip…Gpku is himself a time anamoly thanks to the time & space chamber training.

^
Luffy is about 19 or 20 after the time skip. Zoro is 21 or 22, Robin is hitting 30 I believe or close it, Franky is in his 40s and Brooke is a 70 or 80 something probably more. But unless there is a epilogue flashforward, I doubt we will ever see Luffy past age 30 anyway.
That is the point… he is TOO obvious and brings nothing to the table other then being a badass fat fishman and more mature then the other characters save Robin. Papugg provided the world of OP has some form of banks, is at least rich, a clothing designer and can provide new comic relief. But honestly I don’t see anyone joining the crew from this arc, it is just that of the characters in that group shot panel only I was making a point.
I love Jinbei but if anyone joins the crew long term because none of them have purpose right now to do so.
someone search the internet for James Harries and tell me that dude didnt spire Sabo.
Well the starfish would prove to be not fruitful at ALL as he would fall into the same rol Mansop and Brooke already have - the sidekick with one or two skills which prove useful at some point storyline wise because Oda demands it. I don’t think they really need another crew member, but of all of the current ones on the market, Jimbei functioning as an ‘elder’ who can die at a later arc - would work.
Hmm Brooke is like 80? No wonder he went from Bad Ass Swordsman/Captain…to comic relief…way past his prime 4 times over…smh. Sit there and play your fiddle Brooke…just play it…old head…
Next chapter is going to suck…its another setup pretty sure of dividing up who’s going to fight whom…though we know some of the match-ups already.
I wonder when we are going to delve into osme of the other Supernovas.

I feel where you’re coming from, but I still disagree for several reasons.
Papugg being rich isn’t really a selling point. They are a pirate crew who do pretty well off the treasures they’ve been able to secure so far. Them having a “money hack” is really unnecessary and would kill some of the comic relief that already exists (Nami hustling Zoro etc.)… And seriously, I don’t find anything about him entertaining or funny enough to warrant him becoming a main character (personal opinion though).
Jinbei brings things to the table that are being overlooked. Being a Fishman alone brings a lot, since that gives them underwater combat or rescue ability. Previously Zoro and Sanji have struggled to pick up the slack in that area since a large portion of their crew has Devil Fruit abilities. Imagine if Jinbei was ALREADY a crew member. Now put him in that situation where Zoro ran up against Hodi. That entire scenario could have turned out much better in their favor.
Jinbei was also in the Royal Fishman Military (or whatever they call it) and a captain of his own top tier crew. He is probably much more qualified as a combat strategist and can devise better plans for situations. Previously it would be a random plan (if any) by Robin or Usopp or Nami that didn’t work out too well and they end up just bullying their way out of most situations. He is a much more seasoned veteran and proved so as he was a major player in the war at HQ. Big selling point imo.
We can also assume he has more knowledge of the Marines and WG from being a Shichibukai. The value of this is debatable but you never know what Oda might come up with. He may be familiar with Doflamingo’s abilities, which so far have been pretty mysterious. You can bet the Mugiwaras will run into him soon too.
He also has nowhere to go. He’s not gonna stay on Fishman Island after getting himself back on the wanted list. He can’t go back to Shichibukai. He’s probably not going to reform his old crew. He’s leaving with Luffy, bet on it.
That last part is the important part…h has nothing else to do…he’s been chilling - just waiting for shit to pop off.

Fishman Island is going to be destroyed and they’re gonna migrate?
Pretty much. Luffy destroying Fishman Island will be the catalyst to fulfill Otohime’s dream.
jinbei is technically their hoodpass in the new world if he joins.
Jinbei is a punk and would get his shit pushed in the new world. I don’t think any of the shickubaki members could keep up with the New world except for Croc. Fishman don’t even use haki they’re a joke I don’t even think they’re stronger than amazons and when they not in water they’re even worse.
