I’ve made an observation about this game:

-Everyone seems to have some insane cornertraps and combos!!!:wow:

By the way is Kevin Rian using a gun cuz sometimes I swear he’s using one.:bluu:

I can’t believe the so-cal guys didn’t know about the Instant JD on landing by just holding back! I mean I never really knew how to explain it but I knew it happened.

Yeah, I know. There are a suprising amount of things that I never knew or just sort of took for granted… which is why I never say that I’m any sort of pro. This is why it is SOOOO nice to hit up the casuals because I STILL learn from people around me. You can only learn so much, so fast when you play alone (which is what I have to do most of the time).

Personally, I’ve only been play’n for a year prior to evo2k4. And with the casuals in SoCal I’ve been able to learn along with other people for only an additional year. It’s nice to see that interest in this game seems to be grow’n. Can’t wait to see what happens with future port releases.

Keep Play’n. Peace

Kind of late responding to this, but it is character AND feint specific. I’ll try and make a quicklist on the speed of each feint.

Down feint / Toward feint :

Dong Hwan - 10 / 10
Freeman - 10 / 10
Gato - 11 / 11
Griffon/Tizoc - 27* / 13+
Hokutomaru - 8 / 10
Hotaru - 14 / 10
Jae Hoon - 10 / 10
Jenet - 8 / 10
Kevin - 10 / 10
Marco/Butt - 11 / 10
Rock - 11 / 12
Terry - 11 / 11+
Grant - 19* / 10
Kain - 10 / 10

    • These feints don’t seem to be cancellable, for some reason.
    • These feints move the character forward.

Griffon/Tizoc’s toward+A+C feint also gives him partial upper body invulnerability for a short diration during the feint, much like his down+A+B dodge attack.

What these numbers mean are the number of frames the feint animates before it is canceled into whatever action you performed to cancel it. EG. Hitting c.C, toward+A+C, c.C with Terry will cancel the c.C into his feint, the feint then animates for 11 frames before it is cancelled into the next c.C

Easiest way to cancel a feint is just to hold a direction other than the direction used for the feint. For example, Terry c.C, toward+A+C, c.C, you would let go of any direction and button inputs during the first c.C, then hit the feint command to cancel it, then continue to hold down during the feint animation and time the next c.C (and repeat if you’re close enough).

Also, it appears that the directional input must be put in before the button input by at least 1 frame. If the direction is simultaneous or comes after the button inputs, the feint won’t come out. So if you’re having trouble feint cancelling, try to input the direction first, before the buttons.

Additionally, you can not hold a direction during the entire animation of a move, while attempting to cancel it with a feint. The stick must be put into neutral for at least 1 frame during the move animation in order to cancel the move. In other words, to do Terry c.C, down+A+C, c.C, you must put the stick into neutral during the first c.C, before cancelling it with the feint, you can not just hold down and do c.C, down+A+C – you must do c.C, [neutral], down+A+C

Lord knows why they let Terry’s toward+A+C feint move him forward…

I tried the feint combo with terry, Now that I know how to do it, and it’s not too bad, c.C, fient, cr.C is pretty easy, the hard part is doing it fast enough for two c.Cs which i can’t get very consistently at all, and then doing cr.C feint Cancel into cr.C is pretty tough, but not bad. Also I was thinking about the game in General and tiering and stuff I don’t think Gato is as good as I originally thought.

Mostly because he has no really quick easy combo starters, I mean I know you can do stuff like a,a, qcf+a ff+a but that isn’t that damaging compared to the easy shit Kevin and Jenet can off of their far reaching feirce moves. He also has some problems getting in I have noticed. Good things he has though are he builds meter like a beast and his more complicated combos do alot of damage. Plus I think he has one of the best anti-air supers in the game. But still I would switch his and B.Jenet’s positions on the tier list I think.

^ – Agreed. Gato and Rock both seem like in-fighters who have trouble getting in and rely mostly on running A’s, short jumping C’s, knockdowns, or waiting out the opponent.

Though, Gato also has the jumping D -> A air chain which seems fairly useful as well. And his qcf+C attack seems safe if blocked, though it’s pretty slow to come out.

Poor Rock doesn’t have much in the way of getting in other than running, low jumping, and random knockdowns.

I rank Gato high on the list though, due to his sheer damage potential, awesome/abusable supers, and meter building ability.

[Edit] I’m still waiting for a vid to feature Hotaru, Tizoc, and a Jae Hoon that doesn’t get assraped by Jenet.

Yeah, so am I. The good Hotaru players I’ve seen here in socal Camelot uses air d+B to setup pressures, air turnaround, and jabs into the lotus or super, I’m curious how Japanese ones are like.

Thanks for the complete explanation Xenozip. Now, I know why I couldn’t do the trick consistently. Sorry that my try to explain has led me into saying something wrong… next time I’ll train more and talk only when I’m 100% sure^^.

Gotta go back training some more !

One thing it seems about Gato is that he can get away with building meter and letting his opponent run into something, then bam, juggle into super, and then Gato is all over them.

QCB+K > A seems like a good move to piss people off with and to discourage them from blindly running in while Gato brakes his flip. And yeah, if you do decide to attack and happen to get hit on the way in, you could eat whatever to super, Gato is right on top of you (with meter). If you manage to get out, Gato can just start building meter again, except this time you’re down by 30% of your lifebar.

Jenet doesn’t have that kind of scariness backing her up. She has a nice set of moves to get in and stay in, but she has to take more risks to set up her damage, whereas Gato can sit there, build meter, and then totally mess you up for trying to stop him from building meter.

Yeah but if Gato gets Rushed hard, in the begining he has a hard time catching up. I have played against some good players and most of them don’t just sit there letting you build meter for free. You may get like three broken stomps but after that you better figure out how to get them of you long enough for you to regain the momentum of the match.

damm this inspired me to boot up mame and play this game, i wish there was competition here where i live at. great vids though

Final match: Kain vs Grant? Booorinnnggg. >_>;

Good matches, I likes especially the block strings of the one Terry Player …^^

Final match boring? Why is that? Kain could possibly bring a lot of stuff to the table and can be VERY interesting to see, esp since we go by the rankings where he is much closer to the bottom. Since I like to use Grant, I am VERY curious to see what he brought. Admittedly, Grant is not the most flashy char so I can see why he can seem boring.

You guys really have to use the boss chars to know whatz up. PLEEEEASE don’t just think “Oh itz a boss… hez just some cheesy overpowered bastard.” You’ll really begin to appreciate those chars more, the players behind them, and the game as a whole by playing with ALL the chars… ESPECIALLY the bosses (BOTH of them seem to play VERY diff from most other chars)!

Keep Play’n. Peace

They just updated with a new pack (from 56 to 61 new fights)

http://howardarena.sakura.ne.jp

By the way, #58 isn’t a repost. Jenet (player 1, purple costume) vs. Jae Hoon (player 2, red costume), on Jae Hoon’s stage, and Jae Hoon only wins 1 round in both matches. I got thrown off a sec cuz I thought it was a repost, but the match is actually different.

mow.3.57 had to be the best Janet play that I’ve seen in my life.

Wow that B. Jenet was fucking crazy!

Love, La Bamba

bjenet was awsome…but got dominated by Dong at the last match.

People say Jae is damn strong and near the top of the tier list but the vids so far haven’t really shown that. In the vids he barely gets meter and wins 1 round through random supers >_>. Hopefully there’ll be some better Jae hoon vids soon.
