And yes: fuck evo this year. Even if just out of respect for what sf2 has done for evo, they should always have it there.

As for Naptown, that’s actually a tourney I would go to IF I could. However, I already have days scheduled off the Wed thru Friday right before that weekend (concert in Chicago), and I work that Saturday morning. So unless my place of employment spontaneously combusts Friday night, I can’t.

Cool, keep me posted. I’m going to try and make it out to more and more tourneys these days to get some promoting done (stickers/T-shirts/installs on the spot/etc.) So you may end up seeing me at a tourney soon anywho so shipping might be moot.

See, I think I have to respectfully disagree with you there, Mike. While it’s true that words cannot describe what SF2 did for fighting games, it’s also true that there is literally no reason whatsoever to be still playing it when there is a slew of new, modern fighters out/coming out that deserve the spot on the EVO lineup. To honestly think it’s reasonable for ST to occupy the slot that any one of the currently listed games occupies seems a little much.

Now… One could say that ST should be present along side these games, but that would also mean having someone to run the tourney, having bodies to fill the brackets, and supplying ample set-ups to accommodate the tourney. With the release of MVC3, Mortal Kombat, new Tekken, and possibly Arcade Edition by then it’s kind of unreasonable to expect people to really honest-to-god still care about whether or not 25 year old Street Fighter II is being played at EVO. As it stands, most ST tourneys being played are these crazy $50 buy-in things that only the most die-hard OG players even bother entering.

You shouldn’t write it off so quickly. I think if you just loosen up a bit on what you consider “fun” you’ll be in for what promises to be one of the most epic EVOs in a long time. :tup:

Yes, and tomorrow I’ll wake up and consider Nascar a fun “sport” to watch.

Maybe I’m just a little tired of the newer fighting games that seem to program obvious, all-encompassing options into the system to deal with every situation that might come up instead of requiring the player to get creative and/or think ahead enough to avoid said situations.

I know I know… garner more audience by: making the games easier to learn and play + flashy, sparkling, enormous, self-gratifying combos = more money.
