They are both the same issue, but with different covers. The top one is the first issue of the translated Tokuma Comics Street Fighter issue number 1 with a UK exclusive cover, and the second one is the american cover to issue 1.

“We formally apologise for the dissatisfaction and disappointment we know this news can and will generate. We are true fans of Street Fighter, so even though we will no longer be publishing it, we sincerely hope someone else does!”
What a bunch of crap. The guys at Malibu had some pretty big egoes considering their work sucked so much. They bastardize Street Fighter and then actually believe that what they did was true to the game and that people would care that the piece of crap book was cancelled. Capcom did the right thing to can that crapfest. I only wish they could have gotten around to the job sooner, like after issue 1…
Thankfully, the Udon team knows what a Street Fighter comic should be! I hope the guys who worked on the old Malibu book have read Udon’s comic and recieved a lesson in what an SF comic should be.
Amen to that. One of the things that sometimes rialled me with the SF2V anime was how they tried to turn it into heroes and villains, in Street Fighter there is some of that but there’s supposed to be more insight into the way of the warrior. Udon does a great job with that imo with the random fights and rivalries that go on. Malibu’s was building up to all heroes and villain crap. I’m not that keen on the Manga comic either…
Speaking of old Street Fighter comics, does anyone else remember the manga adaptaion of Street Fighter 2: the Animated Movie? It only lasted a few issues and there were similarities and differences abounds. I only read two issues of the manga but I remember that there were a lot of things I noticed that were different from the anime.
For example, the Vega vs Chun Li fight was a little more brutal. For one thing, Vega catches Chunny with an Aerial Suplex and she nearly dies. While Vega removes his mask and stands lording over her fallen body, she vomits some blood in his face and he licks it off. Meanwhile, deep in Chunny’s mind, she has a vision of her dead father, thus giving her the strength to get up and defeat Vega with a Kikouken. After being blasted through the wall, Vega presumably falls to his death.
The BIG difference between the anime’s fight and the manga’s fight is the humurous aftermath that followed. Vega lands in a tree planted on the sidewalk. He meets Dee Jay, Honda, and T. Hawk, who are baffled by the strange man from the sky. Vega then insults them and they respond by beating the piss out of him. Basically, after such a gruesome battle, the artist decided to lighten the mood with a little comic relief. Oh, but after that, Guile came into Chunny’s apartment and saw her lying unconscious with a message she wrote to him on the wall (with her own blood).
Does anybody actually own the SF2 Movie manga? Has anyone at least HEARD of it? I can’t even remember who published it. Something is telling me Viz Comics, but I may be VERY wrong.
Little help?
I have the TPB Manga and also the comic series, It’s all part of that on-going Street Fighter Manga comic seres, which reached 16 issues. #1-8 was an orignal version, #9-11 I think was Street Fighter the movie, #12-16 was the SF2 Animated Movie manga. I can only actually see Manga on the comic as the publisher.
If you go to Kikouken.com, you’ll find pics of Chun getting hugged by Honda in that comic. She suffers the agonizing pressure of his arms closing in on her body as he yells out “IT’S OVER!”, and when she sees he’s enjoying it (as in, snuggling up to her breasts), she breaks out and throws his ass across the arena. Stupid, but hilarious.
Damn, that was fast! So, it was part of the old Street Fighter manga series, huh? Thanks for the quick reply, nortlee.
Lol just lucky timing I was here, no probs mate
