we understand doc. i got my ass handed to me today on XBL by some Ryu that went by the name of xLostLegendx i beat his other characters but his ryu whopped me through and through. i couldn’t even get in on him he would just FA all of my pokes and backdash. and when i would F.mk he would FA and punish me. ughhh it was so fu**ing frustrating. so if i can get any tips on how to beat a good[i mean good] ryu i would realy appreciate it. thanks fellow kens… =]

Hi i’ve got some questions about fighting rufus and would appreciate if anyone here can help out

  1. Does ex messiah beat everything i can do? i’ve had ex-shoryu and ultras beaten out by ex messiah. Seems to be that if he does this on wake up it’s like a free get out of jail card,

  2. Which of rufus’ moves are easily punishable(like a blocked shoryu)? if i shoryu before the last kick it seems to trade quite frequently

  3. What do i do against tornado pokes other than dp’ing on reaction? is it totally safe for him on block?

  1. Yup. It’s got lot’s of invincibility frames. It is a get out of jail free card. Bait the shit out of it.

  2. Blocked Messiah Kick! Punish with fierce shoryu everytime you block one.

  3. Low Forward? And I dunno. Look up the frames on it. If it leaves him +3 on block then no it’s not safe.

So when you say punish the messiah kick it’s before the follow up isn’t it?

And tornado is -1 frames for lp/mp/hp and -2 for ex…so i guess no free punish there

I think if they are not fast enough sometimes, I catch some Rufus players after the tornade with a step-kick. esp if they have the tendency to backdash.

Also, after a knockdown on a Rufus, with no EX bar, they can either block or backdash. I suspect as a Ken there is a way to put a block string/Kara-throw OS input that may grab them as they backdash. I have yet to test it but it would be easiest if the training dummy in training stage would allow me to reset and do knockdowns. =/

2nded. Even if I’ll have the free time it’s almost like I get distracted on purpose, or sub-consciously, to avoid updating my threads. There’s just so much shit to write about…

How do you control Bisons space? Hes so fast and his jump range and height is INSANE making a lot of jumping normals of mine whiff. I find myself just blocking in this matchup and praying I can get a knockdown on him but then most of them will just teleport and start the random jumping around and doing scissor kick spam over and over which I can stop with a strong but not all the time. Do I really need to do an advanced version of a flowchart to win this battle because I can’t beat him with strong alone. Also I’m sure you are aware of his godlike mk and hk…so yeah…BISON.

You generally want to stay grounded in this fight, no real reason to jump.
Stay crouch blocking if he is walking forward to be on guard for random slide.
Throw Hado’s from a safe distance, you want to keep him annoyed and force him to focus dash them or jump over them. Your go 2 pokes up close are low forward, s.strong

His Rh loses to low forward but his mk beats low forward but mk does less damage then Rh so forcing him to use mk.
If you knock him down and go for a cross up on his wake up and he teleports you can kara throw immediately and grab him.
Theres some option selects with tatsus but I don’t know them lol

Your main game plan is to push him to the corner so he can’t really do anything and limit his escape options by making him waste meter anyway possible.
Tatsus are good in this match because they push him to the corner faster, shoryus kind of meh.

To deal with scissor kick spam is easy, just don’t get caught in it lol.
If you find yourself pinned in the corner just block until you feel its safe to counter with something.
The risks of jumping are Ex headstomp, J.mp mp ultra, Rh but that beats scissor kick. Walking/dashing forward beats all them except Rh and scissor kick.
Shoryu beats them all(maybe not headstomp) except block. So choose your choice wisely.
Thats your punishment for getting trapped. You should always save 2 bars anyway for that situation

Hope that helps this is a boring match anyway, keep the lead the whole time and you should be fine.
