Elbow beats Flash Kick Clean.

I only do Focus on my opponents wake up if they use someone that doesnt have a good reversal or there reversal can be backdashed, It’s not hard to tell who those characters are. But I would never rely on it… especially since i rarely do it and Guy has better options for wake up options.

ok, but who do should you use focus on when YOU are getting up?

Why exactly would you focus on wake up, Guy’s best options are Block, Crouch-tech, Backdash and EX BSK or if you are good enough and sense a safe jump coming… EX Run xx Ultra.

Ex Run xx Ultra beats OS?!?!

It’s not “very soon”. You just hold up so that you jump up the moment you recover. If you wait even a bit, it’s no longer a safe jump.

Also, watch out for counter hits and late hitting slides because these won’t set it up either.

Yeah Alioune showed us this against Ryu’s Safe jump. He absorbed the active frames and Ultra grabbed him during the recovery frames, and someone unless did a video of it against a jump in attack, Heck it could be useful against Crossups, If you are using U2 of course cause U1 you may catch them in the air or they have time to block.

Why wouldn’t you just do Ultra 2 by itself? It has 2 frames startup and 2 active frames which should be enough to grab Ryu when he lands off his safejump. Maybe I’m missing something, but it seems like you’re complicating things for absolutely nothing.

Idk Alioune video showed it He said its possible to just do without it, I just EX Run is used to be Flashy -shrugs- it still would be cool to see

What would be the optimal motion for armor cancel u2…? Sounds pretty hard to me, admittedly I haven’t tried it as I rarely use U2.

It was hard to see in the video of Alioune I from the looks of it its hcb qcf 2k qcb or hcb 3p but you can do the same with U1 qcf qcf 2k 3k it’s strict timing and all but if you can do it consistently I would say its good to learn but with U2 as Alioune said it would be guaranteed to hit anyways without the EX.

Can Guy armor cancel his EX run into another EX run for no meter like Balrog? Haven’t tried this. but I’d imagine it’s alot harder since we’re not talking about a charge move.

No Idea… but someone test this out … thats 4 armour hits if its possible.

Earlier you said something about focus on wake up, I hadnt really thought of it before so I wanted to know what uses it had.

Said in regards to their wake up you focus attack them. Since some characters do not have a good reversal on wake up and some character it requires there EX.

Focusing them on wake up is a bad idea against everyone. SF4 101

Online… people either, mash armor break or you back dash and probably punish… I do it for lawls against flowcharts on occasion.

Ok thanks for clearing the air.

Funny shit when you charge focus right out of their lp shoryu range ont heir wake up and they throw it anyway and eat a big combo

mid screen

cr.lp cr.mk (knockdown) jump mk crossover cr.lp cr.mk jump again but do d+mp at the last moment to hit in front and repeat.

corner.

throw into the corner
jump towrads d+mp and land in front before they wake up and do a meaty cr.lk

or

jump towards and wait a split second longer and d+mp and land behind and do a meaty cr.lk

i think this is a worthy thread to be on the first page and deserves some more attention.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in other threads but I feel there is opportunity to continue pressure after FF chain besides ex hozanto.

Against characters bad on wakeup I’ve followed up ff chain with j.hk or j.mk to continue the pressure. Other options include the usual run-stop , run-overhead.

My favourite is when you notice that ur opponent always does a quick get up after knockdown. Follow up FF chain > hozanto with an ex flip immediately. Catches alot of people the first time around.

What else is a good follow up after FF chain?
