Oh Say Can You See, the MvC3 Captain America Video Thread

well maybe his head is still vulnerable and he just now has no hitbox on the body

I’m going to be super optimistic about it. Why? Because even if I’m disappointed, I’ll compare what I have now with the Cap I will have then, and I shall be happy.
Honestly, even projectile invul is amazing. It means I finally have a semi-safe way to get closer when at full screen vs projectiles.

If chars like Phoenix, Dr Strange, Deadpool can teleport right on your back so quickly, others can fly, why did Cap can´t get a invulnerability like this? He is not top tier anyway. He deserves a new mobility move. He can’t stop the cartwheel before the end to make an regular attack, (only with a HCS, HSS…) so it’s not the best move in the world. Is good but nothing that is gonna change the wolrd, so I think it’s possible.

Hey guys I made the video about the beginning of my mvc3 days lol. . … i hope you guys enjoy watching me fail over and over again. lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSowz_Lgyfc

you definitely give hope to beginners with this.

I fight Chris G with Captain America second round in this video of a local tourney last night. Check it out for freedom!

Hey guys I’ve made a video to address some of the questions and techinques that people have been asking me about. hope you guys enjoy it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyIvOqkBKk0

just one thing. you know that you don’t have to start the air.SS loops with a ground H.SS. You probably know that it’s perfectly possible to start an air.SS loop from a launcher.
I really do find no reason using ground H.SS to be honest with you

I know that, but now that i think about it i should have added that into the video lol. I like to use ground H.SS because it makes me feel like I have way more options then I do with the S combos. With the ground combo’s at any time I can do a jab for a reset or even launch to get more damage. Idk i guess its just a personal preference for me. But don’t get me wrong, I still definitely do the S combo’s in battle just as much as the ground H.SS. lol variety

I used to do the ground c.H xx SS combos when I first started learning Cap, but now that I’m far far far more advanced than those days I honestly don’t remember (literally) the last time I used a c.H xx SS combo. I like the style of them, and they do at least give you a different look when you’re wanting to reset, but I always end up doing my own S combos and resets instead.

I may add the c.H stuff back into my bag of tricks, but I’d have to be very careful doing so…to make sure that I don’t use them for one specific thing which would key my opponent into what I’m thinking.

As for new charcters coming in, depending on how much meter the opponent has, and depending on who the actual character is I do either…

Spencer assist + ground M.shield slash
Spencer assist + ground L.shield slash (maybe cartwheel on the return hit)
Spencer assist + cartwheel
Spencer assist + nothing…just wait to see the reaction

That’s at least my normal course of action on the incoming character, using Doom’s beam assist is a bit harder on incoming characters due to duration. If I’m feeling aggressive then I will jump M, M + Doom assist, d.H…then whatever seems best at the time if it’s hit/blocked. Oh, or jump forward + Spencer assist, cartwheel as soon as I land to give a different timing to the mixup.

@ Ken

I too agree that it seems like a lot of Cap players just go for the same ol’ B&B combo every single time, instead of looking to do something either bigger, or tricky to benefit themselves even further. I know that not everyone likes to use a team like I do, but for sure they can use their assists to branch off their combos (not just DHC’s), or at least try to look for an awkward reset sitation. Landing a single reset with Cap can mean a dead character on a few people without ever using any meter at all…or a lot of people only using 1 meter.

I’ve been getting a good bit of success with a simple reset I’ve been doing lately for people that love to hold back during every combo.

c.L, M, H, S, sj, u.H xx L.shield slash, jump, M, d.H xx L.shield slash, dash forward, c.L xx Cartwheel…

From that point the opponent will be reset, and if they’re holding back will be moving right towards you. You end up with a free combo, and depending on your combo, they end up dead for very little if any meter. While you CAN wait for them to touch the ground after the cartwheel, I don’t do so because it’s less of a surprise at that point…catch them in the air instead for the kill. The c.L if done properly will have them very close to the ground anyway so there is no real need to hesitate with your next combo. (you get to keep both assists available for the next combo in this fashion as well)

Hey guys this is part 2 of my little tutorial series. In this episode I cover what I usually do in training mode and how to efficiently spend your time there. I hope you guys enjoy it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-SRQ25DgZo

another good vid Ken

One of these days I’m going to have to get a decent camera to do stuff like this instead of just posting the text. Glad to see you address the importance of hit confirming vs just combo practice. I’m very interested to see the next video to see if I know what you’re thinking about Cap’s resets and Weskerness lol.

I honestly think that Cap has some very very good resets, and of course his cartwheel crossup. Every day that I use Cap, I feel more and more like I’m going now for resets at the end of my combos instead of using the meter. Of course that’s situation dependant, but if you can get a quick reset, you could easily next 7-800k damage for no meter while building 2-3 meters…a pretty good deal I’d say.

I also agree as I said before, about charging star being sooo good. I use the L and M versions more than anything, though an occasional H just for punishes might come out. Lately instead of using H.charging star to close a gap/punish I’ll use a dash M.charging star which will recover quicker while covering a ton of distance so…

dash+IronMan assist xx M.charging star (L+M+P2, qcb.M)

I also use that for cartwheel crossups with Spencer assist (sooooooo good on incoming characters) or IronMan/Doom beam. Maybe I’ll do some cell video to get some visuals to how it looks later.

That video is sick, and it looks like I have a new BnB from it

Omg nice vid.

Hey guys, this is the third installment of my captain america tutorial series. . . .I cover resets and “weskerness” in this video lol. I hope you enjoy it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDw9cFDpoM0

Two questions about that 1st combo:

  1. Can I start it with j. Down H instead of j. S?
  2. I’m having trouble getting the 2nd j. up H to connect. They seem to be just out of reach like 80% of the time and I can’t figure out why. Any advice?
