Doesn’t really matter since the game is focused on end game, not exactly grinding out levels to max level like many, many MMOs. I’ve been leveling a hunter alt and been having a really good time playing her. The new 1-60 quests are great.
In any case, saying the 1-60 leveling caters to casuals is a pretty absurd claim.

The changes to 1-60 are a good summary of the kind of direction the game is moving in as a whole.
Classes are being homogenized and mechanics are being streamlined. The only reason any end-game cata content is hard is because people are/were gearing up - once that phase is done, it’ll be back to the same faceroll aoefest wrath was.
I’m not saying the new content is bad, I’m just saying I don’t care for how dumbed down everything has gotten.

AoE is coming back in a big way come 4.1. Every class that had their AoE capabilities nerfed is having that shit beefed up substantially.
That said, I couldn’t really care less about heroics being easier when Firelands drops. Shit that one-shots tanks and bad players will continue to do so, and raiding should stay challenging. Problem is, I dunno if I will still be interested in the game before it comes out, since waiting for my guild to catch up to me in terms of learning fights is frustrating.
thanks for answering my questions.
So my friend is an MMO noob so since it seems people want to rush to the level cap of 85, is there any chance that he’ll learn the basic fundamentals of instance play or is he (or we, since it seems like wow isn’t wow anymore from this thread), going to go into a baptism of fire end game? do people even go through that defias instance early in game anymore?

People still do dungeons; in fact, they do them even more nowadays thanks to the random dungeon finder system. However, good luck on learning any of the fundamentals until 85, since crowd control, proper target priority, and staying out of the bad stuff on the ground isn’t truly hammered into the brain in the leveling dungeons. However, provided your friend isn’t a complete idiot, he should be able to catch on relatively quickly.
My guild just got Maloriak down last night. Unfortunately, I missed out on it because McDonald’s forgot to give me two of the sandwiches I ordered and I had to go back to get them. Seemed like an easy fight from what I heard on vent though, and the fact that the guild got him down on the fourth or fifth try. Next up, Chimeraon.
Got my warrior to 80-85 during the weekend. Colossus smash is such op shit.

oooooo thanks shodo. i tried selling my account awhile back and the guy tried to scam me >.>
Classes being homogenized doesn’t have to do anything with catering to casuals, really. It’s just to make getting the right buffs in a ten man raid easier, but even then, some boss fights need the right comps to make them easier. Blizzard didn’t want things to turn into Sunwell when you had Paladins standing outside the entrance to give people buffs after every wipe, and have fifty resto shamans in the raid.
Fixing old and clunky mechanics is a good thing, not a bad thing.
And yes, you are right about once you outgear heroics, which is inevitable, they become a joke, but even Blizzard knows that is going to happen. There isn’t really any way to prevent that unless you make heroics scale with gear. Raids, on the other hand, are entirely different. The opening Cata raids weren’t hard just because people were gearing up.

Changing the buffs was an understandable thing, and I fully approve of it (I also like being able to ask for blessing of wisdom and have pallies give me a weird look). The sweeping changes to healers and tanks to make classes identical in those roles, however, was just dumb. Every class has their variation of the same spell now, with core things being revamped just so things can be the same (druid tanking, priest healing, shaman healing are all stellar examples).
Sure, it’s easier to balance. Sure, it’s fair. So is a version of SFIV with nothing but shoto characters.
The old unique playstyles of classes were fun. This is not.
This is, of course, all my (exaggerated) opinion. I’m in no way saying Cata is bad, I just personally don’t enjoy nor like most of the changes.
How are druids in this game? Are they just heal bots in this game? I remember that raids wanted the to heal for the longest time. is their casting tree actually of any use?
Quick question. Does Cataclysm have a scroll or resurrection?
Not that i know of. my friend tried to send me one but it said you’re not allowed to have any expansions on the account in order to use the code… because… I don’t know why
Scrolls of Resurrection only work on TBC accounts. I’m not sure why they have not upgraded it to WotLK accounts.
In unrelated news, I finally updated my UI to something much more cleaner. Took a bit to get used to and I’m still making some tweaks, but overall I’m pretty happy with how it turned out.

I renewed yesterday after not playing since launch of WoTLK. Started using my old lvl 18 healer and man are there a lot of changes and stuff haha.
Ugh, my UI is such a mess. I really need to clean it up a lot. I have to many addons taking up way to much space, may get a screenshot later and see if anyone has any suggestions.

I’ll reactivate my account in a week or two, gotta reinstall everything though. Got back into the TCG and figured why not, been less busy at work lately so I got time. Might try out a Frost Mage or Shadow Priest.
Yeah post up a screenshot. My old UI was functional, but pretty messy. New UI feels so much better.
I will once I get off of work and wake up from a much needed nap. I think the main problem might be that my action bars are too big, but that’s just a guess.
Missed this post. Druids can do caster dps, melee dps, or healing. Druids can do all of them very solidly.
