Warning, huge rant with lots of pics.
So my TE2 got delivered three days ago from Amazon. It was going to be delayed two months, but then it delivered as scheduled. So I should be happy, right? Eh…
I had the same air bubble issue that madgrab posted six posts above this one. The case didn’t close and sit flush with the rest of the case. But that was the least of my problems.
I also ordered the Type-N plate. I was a little excited as this was going to be my first Namco Noir layout stick that I’ve ever played with. Unfortunately, as some of you already know, the screws to the control panel are under the art panel. Under some adhesive. Oh no.

Wanting to swap to the Type-N plate, I peel off the art panel from the control panel. And as a consequence, there’s good news and bad news. The good news is, after taking a second look at the stock Taito Vewlix panel, the air bubbles went away. The bad news is… the art panel is ruined!

A closer look…

There appeared to be tear lines on the front of the art panel that reflected where lines of adhesive were on the back side. At least I thought they were reflections, as the art panel is a little transparent. So I spend a whole day scrubbing off the adhesive with nail polish remover, hot water, and Palmolive. The tear lines remained. It’s ruined.
Whether it’s actually my fault or not, this could have been avoided if Mad Catz designed the TE2 differently. Either design the frame in a way that the control panel can extend past the art panel but still have enough room for screws before reaching the bezel, or skip the fucking adhesive! You would think a thick enough plexiglass (mine is the shitty, thin one), bezel, and buttons (I’ve heard from this thread that screw-ins help even more) would be enough to hold all this shit down. No, go ahead and ruin the art panel with adhesive.
Whatever. the stock art panel is ruined, at least I still have the Type-N panel. No adhesive there and the art looks nice. Umm…

The Type-N plexiglass is discolored (and thin). It’s kind of green. Here’s some comparison pics of the art panel (and the control panel underneath for contrast) without and with the plexiglass, respectively.

And here’s a comparison pic between the stock plexiglass and Type-N plexiglass.

This is just false fucking advertisement! So while the stock pics of the Type-N panel look like this:

…My stick has to look like this:

Un-fucking-believable. Like glass, the green is more noticeable when approached from the side. And the plexiglass doesn’t stay down either. At least on the stock panel, the little bit of adhesive helps keep things down. Fuck.
Maybe I can get a replacement stock plexiglass, stock art panel, and Type-N plexiglass. Man, such quality issues.
Don’t buy the TE2.
P.S. Sorry if my pics don’t appear, it’s my first time posting pics. Anyways, you can also find them here.
