The ribbon cable with the dual strike is has me sold. Good luck
Any idea when your board will be ready to buy?
My beta boards will be here in roughly 10 days (maybe a few more), and depending on what the beta testers say, I’ll be bringing the rest with me to EVO.
Other than that, production probably won’t happen until after EVO.
I’m sorry, I know I probably put up the thread pre-maturely in regards to availability but I honestly thought I’d have them done by now. I know a lot of people are chomping at the bit for these, and believe me…I’m one of them
I was wondering if there were any updates to the status of this project?
trance, I’ve got all the parts to build some boards for testing, but I’m still waiting on the PCBs themselves.
The factory has run into some issues, but with any luck they’ll get them to me ASAP.
hopefully soon
^ Whoo for Guilty Gear and awesome mods. Would have probably gotten one if I hadn’t already soldered like mad all over the board. Lol. Maybe the next mod. Awesome job, phreakazoid.
So if I understand this correctly, this doesn’t remove the need for an imp board or a manual switch but rather allows one to piggyback onto the XBOX TE PCB without soldering?
If so, how hard would it be to implement something like an imp or another type of switch into your board directly and do you have plans to do that in the future?
Thanks
An imp isn’t necessary if you use this in conjunction with a Dual Strike pcb. The “switch” from xbox360 to ps3 occurs by holding a button while inserting the usb cable into the ps3. Also, the chimp would do a similar job but is not as easy to attach to the TEasy board.
Yeah dualstrike has its own built in imp-like functionality
awesome!! Blue PCB looking great!
Lookin’ real good there, phreak!
Now I wish I had a TE in my possession even more…
Marcus
I regret buying a ps3 TE stick more and more everyday.
My first dual mod failed as I scraped the black shit a little too hard on the D-Pad of my 360 controller, also I couldn’t get the solder to stick to that part either. No connectivity means no dual mod. I gave up for now, or until I can find an easier pcb to solder.
Phreak, you are my savior! I’ve been waiting for this kinda dual mod for months. I was just about to either get a xcm ko gear converter or solder my stick with the chimp board. I have never modded a stick in my life! Quick question, I think Digital or someone else asked this already but will the TEasy board come with (the option of) the dual strike pcb along with the ribbon cables? Thanks a bunch for sharing this info and I hope it succeeds so I can get one! =)
Hmm, that sucks man. I’d recommend giving it another shot with a fightpad, there’s no scraping necessary unless you want to scrape the trace instead of using the button’s pad for some reason. If you don’t want to pay retail, scrounge ebay for a 360 fightpad or hit up the trading outlet, it’s not uncommon to find one for $25 or so.
Also, your AV is ridiculous
Depending on how things go, I don’t see an issue with selling both PCBs in one order or something. I’ve been thinking about attempting to throw together a complete kit so that all you’ll need is a screw driver and a pair of diagonal cutters. It would include both PCBs, and some zip tie anchors and zip ties, the rest should be able to be done with the two tools required .
That’s for the future though, I’ve just yesterday sent out a few boards to some testers, so we’ll see what they say. One leg at a time
First Test TEasy
eehm yes, that was a great
Just noticed that **Phreakazoid187 **sends me the TEasy Test Board. Ok, just unwrapped it and lay it down on my fav un-dual-modded TE.

Then I took closer look at the TEasy PCB.

First of all I noticed the high quality of the pogo pins. The`re very tight. I was suprised coz I never expected such a good pressure level. I wondered about the screw in the middle. **Phreakazoid187 **told me that this friend overcomes the bending (I did not notice at all ;)).
The PCB itself is very professional. The wiring is clean and all the wires are embedded in a GND plane. There are additional GND and VCC connectors next to the Dual mod interface. This Dual mod connector is compatible to Dual Strike. The white corner clamps are clicks-in with a little noise, so my impression is that they`ll do their job.

Okay, down to the daily job, removing the TE parts. Stripped of all those cables. The headphone jacks sits very tight, be careful.

Screw down the TEasy. Did I mentioned that I like that blue?

Okay, take care that you don’t screw the middle screw to deep. It should only thouch slighty the bottom of the TE. If screw it to deep, the board will bend and the pins will not fit.

Yes, what should I say, normally I would start now to solder every pin and measure the electrical connectivity. So this would take me normally about an half an hour. So I wondered how time consuming and simple putting the TE PCB on the TEasy board will be… I do not care about measuring the pogo pins against the solder points of the TE PCB. I just put it on the corner clamps, adjusted the PCB, move the plastic teeth down and connected the ribbon cable. I did measured the electric connectivity.

I`ve cut the stock USB cable, extend the wires a little bit and screw them down into the srew terminals of the dual strike. Then I connected the ribbon cable. I did not care about fixing the Dual Strike PCB in the TE case and lay it just next to the TE PCB.
Then I put the cables aside that the top panels fit and

here it is. Connected the PC and checked the Dual Strike Ps3 controller and xbox360. All buttons and directions works like a charm.
The mod costs me only 10 - 20 minutes without any experience and equipped with a screw driver and pliers.
Summary :
Honestly I did not expect that friend will work, because I could not image that the positioning of the pins will map or that the tightness of the pogo pins are enough. Furthermore I thought that the PCB will bend. After counting down all that issues what could happen making such a project I was looking forwad how **Phreakazoid187 **will solve this. Making the mod I do not put much time into it ;). Just put together the stuff only with a screw driver and a plier. That`s all and the good thing: That was enough. Never made a dual mod faster and cleaner.
Had a great time with that mod!
good job clayton, looks like this has come a long way.
bencao74, thank you so much for the review. I’m so happy it arrived in a timely fashion and that you had no issues with the board.
Seriously, there aren’t enough emotes that I could put in this post to explain how stoked I am at the moment.
Did you end up following my updated instruction video and trimming the leads of the 360 PCB headers? I apologize if it wasn’t entirely clear, I can make a small diagram if people want that. It’s just a precautionary step to alleviate some unwanted pressure and requires only a pair of diagonal cutters.
Also, how was the length of the cable, sufficient, or do you think I should give the user more than 6-7 inches of cable?
@ Cracka J - Thanks, it most certainly has, as Jochen mentioned…there were numerous obstacles that could have, and certainly did come about. The anti-bend screw I’m super proud of, it was a neat way of creating an adjustable support.
Oh, now that is cool… I’m probably going to be buying another X360 TE soon and my plan was to drop in a ChImp but this certainly looks easier… any idea on what the price might be for the complete kit with Dual Strike?
