This. Sunshine is a great Mario game but yeah, you gotta use FLUDD way too much in the game.

I’m on my second play through of Sunshine. I passed the first FLUDD-Less stage with ease in Bianco Hills. The 2nd one is pissing me off! I died so many times last night I turned the game off in frustration. The 12 lives I’d stocked up were dropping and I did not wanna have to get them again. Guess I’ll try for that Shine Sunday night.

As for Angry Mario hack vids, you can’t beat these:

I like Sunshine, primarily for the obstacle courses where you don’t have FLUDD. Several of the Boss fights are a lot of fun too.

Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story - Belly Laughs Vignette

Yessssss more Fawful please!

basically it’s this with the 2nd vid’s voice. hah, maybe my memory is fuzzy.

THANKS GUYS!

No surprise, Princess Peach is called the Worst Woman in video games by GameSpy. Now, I’m not a GameSpy guy and I don’t agree with everything in the article, but some stuff I do agree on.

I haven’t picked up Super Princess Peach but I know it’s on the easy side. How long do you think it’d take one to finish that game?

Also, from what I’ve heard of Partners in Time, I’m not sure if I should pick it up.

For Mario & Luigi series fans…

As for Super Princess Peach, less than a week to play.
I found the game to be a bit easy, but it’s to be expected.

Oh, you have to find 3 Toads in each level to advance to Bowser’s Level. You’ll find most of them without even trying.
As for the music, only a few tracks really stuck out to me, but it could be my tastes and all.

Just beat Mario and Luigi 3, great game, looking forward to a 4th one, though I’d like if it were as long as the first game (I remember that game being rather long like 40 hour-ish…)

I was just checking the number of replies for this thread and comparing to a more modern game. At the time of this post:

Official Mario Thread: 189
Call of Duty: 4,363
:shake::sad::shake::sad:

Not that CoD is bad, I like it (and I realize the thread was made 2 years prior to this one), but it just makes me sad that these days people rather play a “reality simulator” than a true game. I want to jump on koopas, obtain the Triforce, a hedgehog that runs without flirting, a living Snake, climb a challenging monster tower, and boost around with a rocket pack.

I liked it more when games were about fantasy, “anything goes,” and not trying to imitate the real world. Is there a retro game thread?

Mario. My man forever! Mario 64 and Galaxy are both great. Paper Mario series is one of my favorite of all time, but not the wii one. Love all Mario Karts. Smash bros is fun to play around on. Mario Party 1, 2, and 3. Mario tennis for n64. Mario strikers for game cube. All my favorites. The little plumber has always been around to push innovation and overall(s) just let us have fun in his unlikely form. His reach into so many genres of games is unparalleled. He is practically the icon of video games in general, and I thank him for all the memories and keeping the bright light of the platformer alive in this dark age of repetitive first person shooters. Mario Forever!

@Lord HDL: You should check out my N64 thread! It’s a few pages back.

Anyone know where I can find artwork and GIFs of the Mario and Luigi games?

http://www.mariowiki.com/Main_Page

Just enter in the name of the game that you want art for, scroll down and you should find it. Don’t really know of a site for gifs, though.

Meh. I’ve seen this article (and basic argument) before, and I still don’t buy it.

Everybody likes to go with the easy angle that states that Peach is some dumb-ass bimbo who should’ve gotten at LEAST some Brinks Home Security installed in her castle. But to me, that doesn’t do enough to give us the full scope of her character. I actually did such an “article” myself, on another forum. :wgrin:

Here’s the gist (according to me): Peach HAS to be aware of her position, as THE most powerful person in the Mario-verse, political-wise.

I mean, let’s break it down.

She’s got two of the most powerful (outright and politically) male figures constantly at each others’ throats. Sure, the Kingdom, World and Universe may serve as a backdrop (more like collateral) to their conflict, but the center of it is definitely her.

And the beauty of it is, no matter who may end up finally winning between Mario and Bowser, she technically “wins” either way. That much should be plain, seeing how Bowser would love nothing better than to rule with her at his side, and Mario wouldn’t likely turn down a similar opportunity, if presented.

Notice also how she only really gets involved in any thing beyond her normal role, when it’s really something that much “bigger” that threatens her position. As long as Bowser and Mario are the main sides of a conflict, she has no qualms. She has little other reason to stick her neck out beyond sending Mario a few power-ups in a letter, on one hand, and playing the “Oh Woe Is Me! You big BULLY!” angle to Bowser to keep him on his leash, as well.

But bring some one like the Smithy Gang, X-Nauts, Count Bleck, Fawful, etc. into the picture, and that’s a DISTINCT no-no. She doesn’t gain anything if one of those types of parties stand to destroy or rule everything, instead of her. She’s worked TOO DAMN HARD to make “the game” as she’s got it right now, and woe be to those who try and disrupt the balance! With that much said, she has little choice but to get involved in such conflicts, if nothing more than to get Mario and Bowser to get along just enough, so that the status quo can be restored. She played the two like harps in Mario RPG, and ESPECIALLY Super Paper Mario. That much should be evident outright.

I’m willing to think the only reason she really had to “crack the whip” a bit on Bowser in SPP, was because she probably doesn’t want the “game” to end now. And why should she? She’s got it damn good as it is, right now. When she gets kidnapped, she gets plenty of traveling to do, she gets to spend time with her “other boo” and his fam at one of their MANY castles, and just otherwise gets the excitement that she clearly craves beyond being a Princess of a backwater, low-industry nation like the Mushroom Kingdom. And then, by the time she’s ready to go home, Mario’s there to take her there, and she gets to settle down for a while before Bowser, her roughneck thug lover, gets to take her away again. Right on time.

So, in short, good men, women, turtles and 'shrooms may suffer and perish as a result of the “game” she’s running on both sides, but she probably could care less. She brings the notion of “The Power of the Pussy” to a whole new level. 8D

@Reggie- Thanks mate.
Ya know I wish they’d make a Fawful game in the same vein as Mario and Luigi.

WHAT DID THEY DO TO MY BELOVED SUPER MARIO WORLD.

…and from watching the other levels, I noticed that the level designs are eerily similar to IWBTG. I wonder who started it first?

Okay, Cyber Akuma, that was awesome.
Princess Peach is in CONTROL. Even in Mario’s dreams, she’s better than he is.

very interesting Akuma lol

Did anyone else get the impression that the ending to Super Mario Bros. 2 was like a big middle finger? I mean, did that stuff really happen, or did Mario just dream it up because he had too many shrooms before bed?

Sadly, I don’t even remember that final bosses name. I may be the only one, but I wouldn’t a remake of the original gameboy games, maybe DLC for the wii… I’ve never played them.
