Tekken 6 I have finally come to the conclusion is a terrible fighting game and is the worst in the series. Such a slow game where spam is so effective and much more. The juggles and bound system are also way too long. Great someone hits you with a juggle starter and now you have to watch for twenty seconds and if they had rage you might lose from that one juggle combo. Terrible, terrible game compared to street fighter.

Street fighter is the best and if super street fighter 4 is not good then I am done with fighting games for good.

I was thinking about this as well. Is it possible to stand up in between Ryu’s cr Shorts and try to throw him and have enough time to cr block again before the second short hits?

IMO it would be impossible to throw Ryu or anybody in the middle of a combo blockstring. If Ryu does the cr Short x 2 as a combo, and you block the 1st one and stand up before the 2nd one, you’re still considered in the middle of blockstun, and since it’s a low attack, it will hit without you having any chance of throwing. I’m sure not even Zangief or Hawk are able to reversal 360 in the middle of a blockstring, cuz I’ve tried. = J

But yeah, I think you can stand up in the middle of a low blockstring and be able to crouch again, if you’re fast enough. I just haven’t been able to do it yet though. But then again, I suck.

Yeah, I guess you would do that in case your opponent messed up the block string. Or when you don’t know how many jabs/shorts your opponent intends to do before attempting a tick throw.

Can only blue hitboxes be thrown? What about something like this:

It can be command thrown by Hawk and Gief. I know this from experiencing it first hand. Very dangerous to do though!

About blue hitboxes and throws. I was trying to set something up like this in ST with AutoIt but I couldn’t get it to make Zangief do the SPD. I want to get Dhalsim to do a stretchy punch from fullscreen and see if Gief can SPD the tip of his punch. Red hitboxes shouldn’t factor into it as long as they don’t collide with Gief’s blue hitboxes (like grabbing Blanka out of super).

Zero, I’m thinking that a blue hitbox AND the character’s position marker (the one that helps determine which way your character faces and when they turn around when the opponent crosses them up) have to be in range for the throw to work. That’s my hypothesis. Otherwise, you would’ve seen it on YouTube already. Try it and see, though. I don’t mind being wrong if it can be proven. :slight_smile:

Would a normal throw work too? Isn’t a command throw just a normal throw but with greater range and damage?

How does the game engine work out the range for throws in a situation like this? I had always assumed that the relative ranges or the relative distances between characters was calculated using the 2 red pixels, the ones in the centre of each character’s footspan for positioning purposes, but i have no solid info to back that up.

I’ve never seeing a rog being thrown out of a dashing straight punch from across the screen. It would be as if a gief or whoever grabbed him by his outstretched arm and SPD’d him. That would look nuts. There has to be some measure of calculating what the range for throws is based on where the main body of the sprite is standing.

Does anybody know?

Good point about the red character marker, completely forgot about that. I was assuming you could just grab hitboxes because sometimes it looks like I’ve grabbed a sweeping shoto by the foot.

Have Sim whiff long range normals infront of T-hawk or Gief and see if he can grab them.

This can’t be possible. It would be super broke. The match would be 10-0 in hawk’s favour if you could. He could just stand in the corner whiffing 360 all day and grab sim from halfway across the stage every time he threw out a kick or punch. Imagine teleport ochios or SPDs where you were in one spot, and then suddenly as soon as your opponent pulled off a command grab you were in his grasp suddenly. It would have surfaced by now and affected matchups and tier lists accordingly.

No. Throw range and proximity has got to be based on where the actual body or centre of the character is, surely?

I have personally SPD’d all of Boxer’s Rushes when he does them meaty after knocking me down. In fact, I have done this to so many Boxer players, that they learn never to meaty Rush my Zangief. I had one Boxer player accuse me of turbo cuz of this tactic. However as a non-meaty, I have never been able to SPD a Straight Rush, but I have been able to SPD a non-meaty Low Rush and Upper Rush. It’s not even that hard if the Boxer player is predictable. I just do SPD right when I think he will Rush at me, and it works. I don’t think Zangief grabs his arm, otherwise a Straight Rush would be easily throwable by Zangief and Hawk. I think it’s like you said, it has to do with the spacing of the red reference dot.

Boxer gets easily thrown out of all rushes. I am not sure about Sims arms, but I am pretty sure they can be thrown too, they can be punched, sooo…

I was referring to a TAP. More specifically to a TAP that hasn’t connected. I’ve never been thrown out of a dashing straight punch. Dashing uppers and low rushes yeah due to the proximity that they hit (Honda/Hawk/Gief command throws). I can’t remember ever being thrown out of a Rog rush with a normal throw.

Kara canceling SRKs of off cr.shorts or cr.forwards. Does it help in achieving deeper AA SRKs cause of the built in crouching animation you get just before the SRK comes out. I personally feel a difference for the better. I try to play shotos on the side now a little and noticed I trade a lot but with this technique it seems I trade a lot less and get the proper deep SRK high damage a lot more.

Very easy to do too. Just f,d,df, kick~punch
