In my opinion Akuma can be an excellent zoning or rushdown character, but I don’t think keepaway’s his game.

That’s cool, but every time I face an Akuma player, all they do is jump back and abuse fireballs and air fireballs, and when I get near them, they try to jump back to the other side of the screen and do the same.

OMG i didn’t realize how incredibly stupid Akuma’s damage output was until i played with him in training mode.

…and WTF no hitbox on the Raging Demon?! so good.

I just got done playing two matches against players I didn’t recognize. For my first two STHD matches, I didn’t do half bad. I fought a Chun and a Gouki in that order. Beat 'em both.
CAMMY WINS!
LOOK AT MY ASS!

Try fighting UltraDavid’s Akuma. :frowning:

But I agree, I mostly see a lack of good akumas.

But I hate that blocked air fireball into sweep crap. Ugh! I’m a sucker.

…it could be worse: blocked air FB bait, d.MK xx MK Hurricane Kick, Fierce DP

lol.

nasty

Yeah I’ve gotten people with that a lot the last couple days. It’s been semi-safe so far because even when I whiff the forward hurricane or the opponent blocks, the opponent usually just lets me sail overhead and throw them on my almost-instant recovery. But I’m sure that won’t last, people will start blocking it standing and punishing me between hits eventually.

So even better is when you do the air fireball such that it’s totally unclear which side you’re going to land on, then do crouching forward xx half circle either way + fierce. Worst case scenario, the opponent blocks everything and you either did regular fierce fireball chip damage or fierce red fireball chip damage; best case, you got the opponent with crouching forward xx fierce blue fireball and knocked him down. Basically, it’s guaranteed damage of at least a little and potentially a lot, and whatever happens, you’re completely safe.

I can occasionally do air fireball then crouching forward and recognize whether the opponent is being hit well enough to confirm into forward hurricane, but I’m still working on that. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to do it consistently, especially when I’m not even sure which side I’m going to land on in the first place.

The Gouki player I went up against was named MARKETHEGREAT or some retarded shit. His entire strategy consisted of ground fireballs and air-to-air jumping roundhouse. I lost two rounds to him, mostly because I wasn’t trying to win, just trying to find a normal for Cammy that beats Gouki’s jumping roundhouse just in case I’d need to TRY to outdo it. I ended up deciding to play to win in round three and beat him to a pulp. It took me three seconds to discover that he didn’t know how to do shoryukens, so all I really had to do was bait a fireball, then jump in and combo. Pie.

I’m starting to get the hang of akuma he really is a beast.

I have so far played about ten Akumas, and only lost to one of them, the one I lost to did a buff combo after crossup that dizzied me then killed me, other than that all Akumas I have faced have been annoying as fuck only so far as, when they jump around and air FB all round, it takes me a LONG time to safely catch them in the air, all the rounds take like 70+ seconds for me to inevitably kill them, it’s bloody fucking boring, I would rather gouge out my eyes with a spoon then have to beat more runaway akumas.

just walk forward on akuma scrubs. walk under the air fb spam and toss their ass, or combo. works well., they wont know what to do

nice, I like this.

MAN this game is SO good, but it has SO many bugs. I got locked up on the menu after beating someone. Then I made a room and exited it at the same moment someone joined and started the game. So the screen went back to the menu background (the purpley picture Ryu is on) but I could hear that the opponent was playing me, and I could control my character, but couldn’t see any of the screen. Yeah I got a loss on a game I couldn’t see.

Also, I managed to make the menu with Ryu get “stuck” so the text was all behind Ryu and you couldn’t see it, but you could still scroll through all the options. I have tested games before at a big game company, and menu bugs are ALWAYS the FIRST bugs to get written up, seriously a year overdue and you have menu bugs, WTF??

This is all on 360 btw.

This is exactly my experience, I think I have had a grand total of ONE person join a game I make on ranked, half the time the quick play button doesn’t work, and 90% of the people it displays under ranked> custom matches I am not able to actually play…so why does it bother displaying fucking people I can’t challenge???

It’s hella frustrating when you’re trying to improve your rank that it takes a few minutes each game to freaking FIND someone to play.

Also, WTF is the deal with the rankings, it honestly seems fucking RANDOM. I can play people all day and barely improve my rankings by winning, then I come back later and drop like 250 places in the overall rankings. Then when I beat 2 players in the top 20, and I was ranked at 115, I didn’t see ANY significant increase in my rank. Hint, one of the players was a producer on the game.

I have a WAY better ratio of wins/losses than some people who are WAY higher up on the list than me, and then some people with way better ratios than mine are way behind me. It seems completely random to me how rankings work right now.

Is anybody using a Pelican PS2->PS3 adapter to play HD remix with on the PS3? This seems unplayable to me, but maybe I’m missing something.

I use speedlink SL-4440 adapter. works like a charm with my Namco stick :looney:

I’m using it, it works perfectly for me. Supposedly the best converter on the market from what Markman says

it depends on the quality of your opponents.

whoring the quantity against scrubs won’t get you nowhere.

more quality opponents increases your rating.

i can’t believe you actually care about online ranking. in the end, you sound like you’re farming for rank.
