In my honest opinon, its not that they need to give everyone a 1f reversal. Its that they need to remove the 1f reversals. No one should have it. That’s one of the reasons why the top tier is the top tier. Most of them can DP or some sort of variant which makes them leagues above the rest of the cast. However I can definitely see how giving certain lower tiered characters a 1f reversal could possibly break them. (Imagine Marduk with a 1f grab reversal) Then again I’ve never been a fan of mashing DPs since SFIV.
people don’t have sfxt figured out at all, but new players think they are much much more clever than they actually regardless if their results actually back that up.
I’ve been doing things with my characters that I haven’t seen anyone else do and they weren’t particularly difficult for me to figure out. People are incredibly unimaginative in this game at this point.
The mentality seems to be “well all these smart people who aren’t me figured out so much about sf4/mvc3, so obviously these same people have figured out sfxt and since I pay attention to what these smart people say there is nothing else out there”
While information dissemination is much faster than it was 3 years ago, someone still has to come up with things and someone has to find practical applications for those things. If everyone concludes that the game is “solved” 2 months in while they’ve just sat around twiddling their thumbs, technology is neither found nor spread to the masses.
Hell people still don’t think Raven has anti airs and he has a meterless one that leads to a full combo without a counterhit.
tl;dr if you think this game is solved use that knowledge to go win tournaments vs. people who haven’t figured out that all you need to do is hold up forward and mash jab.
With how much I used to hear people say “Don’t jump” and “only scrubs spam jump ins” I’m kind of inclined to believe this game would be received a lot better if they did this.

Unfortunately, I can only click ‘like’ once.
lol its like the same conclusion everyone came to about MVC3 in its first month or two. How wrong most were when we have a shit ton of “tech” in that game other than “lol nothing but lmhs mmhs super”. There are only like 2 characters who can get away with that, and its Wesker and MAYBE Wolverine.

Agreed. There needs to be a"I fucking love this post" button.
I agree with people not finding tech. I play the game maximum once a week, and every time I sit down with it, I find something I haven’t seen anyone use (So it might not be new). For example, I have never seen anyone cancel the run of their incoming character with a super or special move. In fact, I still see a lot of people being ignorant about the well known phenomena that you can cancel the run by pressing normals. Of course, your incoming character has to be closer to the opponent than the character on the way out, for you to be able to cancel the run, so as a Dhalsim player, it is probably much easier to see this stuff as useful. With sim I can now do 400+ damage off of an instant overhead half the screen away from the opponent (3 meters, but still)
In this game if you aren’t jumping you aren’t taking advantage of the game system.
It sounds like you’re just bad.
Yeah, I get that. I think a lot of people are conditioned against constant jumping when it comes to street fighter, though. I played a good few games of AE yesterday, a game I never practice, against some solid players and I felt a lot of the fundamentals I’ve been trying to learn worked quite well in that – such that I was actually holding my own. I’m not a huge fan of AE (or else I’d be playing more of that), but it seems like people’s biggest problem is that SFxT’s etiquette disregards a lot of rules SF4 series put into play.
Just saying I think it would see a turn around if it dialed back towards the established standards a tiny bit more. I don’t really think it has to personally (though I will continue to say I want to see that weird cross up thing fixed…), but yeah.
It’s funny but when you posted this I thought of Lili, and how barely anyone plays her. She has both those tools and more but people have hardly put the time in yet to make it work against the easier to use characters.

I agree, I’m surprised she’s not much more popular. Could be that she seems kinda’ meter hungry though.
Or it sounds like that’s what the game is? Can you honestly say that jumping isn’t very dominant in this game?
Some characters get dominated by jumps because they don’t have good anti-airs. You could always just pick the characters that do have them, and it becomes a non-issue.
Ok, but the fact still remains that jumping is a key component of this game. And if AA’s are much more likely to trade–which they are, lets be honest–then what’s to deter people from jumping? It doesn’t matter if characters have AA’s, the main point is that the risk is low for jumping and the reward is high. What good is an AA if it trades too often? You could say that air-to-air is more effective as an option, but its generally hard to react with unless you are able to predict a jump.
Play a good character who can lower the incentive there is for jumping.
If you eat dp tag cancel full combo you won’t want to jump
If you eat raven cr.mk as an aa you won’t want to jump
If you eat juri cr.hp you won’t want to jump
Jumping is good against the large amount of really crappy characters in this game but the good ones deal with it fine
I believe that most of the complaints people have about this game would just go away if they picked good characters.
I noticed that some specific jump attacks tend to trade with AA’s, like Jin’s j.HK and Bison’s j.HP, but I can’t think of too many of those. It’s possible that there are more like that, but no one ever used them on me. You can still anti-air these cleanly if you know what you’re doing. DP motions can actually be executed entirely while crouching in this game (df,d,df), and the input buffer is pretty big, so you can even input the motion and then adjust your spacing slightly before pressing the button. If you just make sure the opponent isn’t jumping directly on top of you and you do it as late as possible, the DP always wins. Switch-cancel it and you get 400-500 damage. Some moves crush airborne attacks entirely, so they’re consistent and pretty straightforward to use. Regarding Jin’s j.HK specifically, if he’s doing it at that “random cross-up” range, you can even just walk under him and punish his landing with whatever you want.
Thats the problem right here. No one should be forced to choose top tiers with 1f reversals to win. Anyone should be able to win with any character. Right now its not very probable that Asuka could beat out Ryu. It makes for a shitty boring game. And for a game that 75% of the players already find boring, that doesn’t help its cause.
In every game, some characters have better anti airs than others. There are characters that can do good without amazing anti airs. Also I have seen a lot of people actually going for trades with anti airs, to do more damage off of the anti air without having to tag cancel.
That’s sort of not how competitive things work.
Also why do you keep saying 1f reversal when dps aren’t 1 frame.
