well C# and java have alot/almost everything built in using the dot notation like file.open() stuff like that. C++, PROLOG, and other old languages you must build structures and all kinds of stuff which makes things time consuming but not hard to make complex projects. PM if you need help or pointers sir
spenz, my programing experience is similar…started way back in the day with a c64 and basic, when i was like 11. then in high school programming class taughts visual pascal. then i had ap computer programming with c++. college i was introduced to html and css, but i didnt really master those untill a year ago. then i picked up a lil php and mysql (because of vB software) and unreal script. while im i really good with html and css, i kno just enough about the other languages to get what i need done or modify something to make it work in my favor. much like you, life has prevented me from really mastering anything else. hopefully when it time for me to get down and dirty with this i wll be able to figure just enough out to get it done.
Ah, the C64. I actually had the C128. Spent most of the time in C64 mode. a printer and GEOS and I could have printed the world away. Ah, memories…
it’s what i do for a living. started long time ago at Sun, then went backend, front end, middleware, data exchange… …snore snore snore… …middleware, data transport, user experience. and now i get to wear a suit and tie everyday, and meet up with @purplearms in the finance district of our lovely city
NVM just found the price, how can i order from u the fully assemble.
The headers just came in, now waiting for the wire. The one thing that made me mad is the order didn’t have any round male machined headers. I can solder wire to a set of female round pin headers like I did with EL Guapo (assuming 28 gauge wire will fit in the hole) but I’d rather have the male headers. Ah well, I can order some from Sparkfun when I order my FTDI programmer.
You gotta make sure you mention from who… …this may give me a bad name LOL
where in toronto are you. both me and @purplearms live and work here.
if you want more assembly than that, PM me and describe what you are looking for
Ha! See, I didn’t even know you had a stash of them. Would have asked for a few with Sparky! Nah, I ordered a pack online. They had the female pin headers, male headers (square), 90 degree headers, and female headers (square). Never checked to see if they had machined male pin headers. No matter; the female on female will work, and if not I’ll pick some up from Sparkfun when I get the programmer. Guess it helps to know what you’re looking for…
And just in case it’s unclear, 32teeth did NOT screw up my headers!
Thank you for the clarification. Wouldn’t want anyone misreading. LOL.
just got mine and will have install, review and all shortly. my video will suck since i am still using the phone but to help others get the idea
I am confused. Will there ever be a ‘Sparky’ or is ‘Sparky Jr.’ it?
im thinking that sparky jr pretty much just became sparky. they are pretty much the same, except that the jr variant has “matrix” setup or charlieplexing if you will for less wires (11<24 wires) and doesnt not have an onboard reset button and button signal header. been trying to get my hands on an original non-jr sparky for a min lol.
32teeth, does the sparky price on the website include shipping? or it is $5 for shipping? thinking about picking up another one this week, if i cant pry a non-jr sparky out of your hands the more that i think about my intended setup…more im thinking just adding another regular sparky jr will do lol.
really the only difference is footprint and amount of wires.
when uploading the code, you will have to change the param for the board version in the main file.
it’s outlined clearly which version is which id
just to give you a better understanding of the sizing

oh yeah. and since we are on the business of shields… …there is actually a 8x RGB 5050 6PLCC shield specifically for the Sparky Jr. @purplearms has one, i have one built and a few spares.
get a load of this

Original Sparky with 24 wire… …eesh

Sparky Jr in the same case

To explain further about the versioning.
There is the rare (i only have 3 left) Sparky Shield as well. Which was the original.
It was a shield for the Arduino board for me not to have to wire up 8 RGBs everytime i wanna play with some light up code

eventually i decided to make it smaller and throw it into my arcade stick.
oh, and since we are on the topic of small and shields. Sparky Jr has an 8x 5050 PLCC 6 rgb SHIELD

so what does it do?

as you can see we have done considerable amount of prototyping, testing and development to ensure a quality product for the end user.
Hey all. In addition to the default and custom config a new xbox mode has been added which applies blue yellow green red to on press for x y b a respectively.
That being said I was trying to think of a playstation config for light up. Any thoughts? Suggestions are welcome.
32teeth, you never did say definitively whether you are (or will be in the future) selling the ‘Sparky’?
I may get more made. Still have a few at home. Any reason that you would prefer the sparky versus the junior? At the end of the day it’s the same thing only that the sparky original will require 24 wires. The images above illustrate the comparison. Originally the sparky was built ad a standalone art project as you can solder in pth RGB led in. I actually use one with an Ethernet shield as a twitter/email/schedule/SRK updated!!!
Please understand I am asking in terms to understand the market place better.
IMO, Sparky Jr will probably fill the needs of 95% of those looking into this, admittedly advanced, board. Sparky would be nice for those much more adventurous and creative than I.
Honestly, I think it’s far enough afield that one-off stuff probably makes lots of sense at that point.
