Strange, my system longs mucho time, granted I keep wifi turned off as I don’t need it. I have everythign else pretty stock too, though I’ve been tempted to turn down the brightness a bit…for my eyes…

I’m really busy, but has anyone tried Vita Half-Byte Loader (lets you play PSP homebrew through Vita’s PSP emulator)? The game needed to run VHBL was Super Collapse 3, but it got removed from the store already.
Im really not even sure about the battery life other than what Ive heard from Sony. Shit, my Vita stays plugged in most of the time. Are you guys using headphones or the Vita speakers? Do you turn off Bluetooth? From what I remember reading the battery would last 4 to 5 hours with all network features turned off, brightness turned to 1/3 or less and using headphones.
I admit that I hardly have any sessions that last more than 30 minutes, but even at that I go a week+ without charging. I have bluetooth off, wifi off, and play with the speakers (though I admit I keep the volume low because the speakers are 'meh’verage…
I guess they’re dropping Skype on the Vita today.
Did anyone use skype on the psp? lol
Guess this could be better since we could video chat with other perhaps :o
Sony needs to hurry and get more/good apps on this thing!
A freakin’ Youtube app would be nice. Not being able to look at any web videos on that thing fuckin’ blows.
edit - Ive only used Skype a couple times on my computer. I didnt even know there was a Skype app on the psp.
I tried a few times then completely forgot about it since for some reason it wouldn’t recognize my ID. Maybe this time it’ll work on the Vita.

It works really well on the Vita, with and without video. I imagine that this is more likely to get used than the PSP version, especially with 3G systems.
It’s just better overall in the way that you can receive calls even when the system is in sleep mode or when you’re in a game.
Just did some testing with it tonight and it really is a huge improvement. I wish they’d do the messaging for it as well, though.
anybody using screen protectors from these guys? (http://www.barrierchief.com/ps-vita-screen-protector)
reason i ask, is because i looked at my rear touchpad and found a few “medium” scratches. not sure how it got there, the vita been in a madcatz armorshell since day one. i do have some Novus plastic polish, i wonder if i can buff it out?
also, what games are you guys playing? looking for something to fill the time until Gravity Rush drops. i noticed Dissidia Duodecim dropped to $20, worth it?
I don’t really care about scratches. If it gets scratched im like fuck it. I did put a Wii strap on that bitch though, I even dyed the strap purple because I didn’t like it white. Scratches I can handle, dropping it I cant.
Right now, im playing Disgaea 3. Game is fun and pretty addicting. Ive also been playing Rayman a lot lately. Im on the last area in Rayman and that shit is getting pretty tough.
edit - I said fuck it yesterday and played Stardust on easy so I could try to beat that dudes score of 60 million. I only got to 40-something million. That shit was pretty easy though. I had like 13 lives at the end and didnt die until the last level. At least I beat it and unlocked all the shit. I think I unlocked all the shit…
I always try to take utmost care with my mobile devices & electronics in general, even bought a protective case & screen protector for my cheap phone lol. Its all about protecting your investment, I’ve owned every model PSP and always bought a crystal case, handstrap, and carrying case to safeguard them. I like to keep my units looking shiny & pristine.
This being the 1st gen model, you KNOW the Vita is going to receive several revisions. If the Vita slim has sufficient improvements to where you want to upgrade, you’ll be able to sell your current one and make some change.
However, if it looks like its been through hell after a few years, you’ll be hard pressed to find someone willing to pay a respectable amount to take it off your hands…
Thats the thing with me. I wont ever buy another Vita, even if there are revisions. I wont ever sell my Vita either. I never even consider reselling anything that I buy that is game related (though I do sell things on occasion). I dont really need anything extra to take care of my shit. My eye glass cleaner and the strap is all I need.
Well thats you then. The majority of us wouldn’t mind upgrading if a new revision to hardware is worthy, and there would be no need to hold onto our old units after.
Basically keeping it pristine & purty for as long as we’ll have it, but also to preserve its re-sale value in the event a worthy successor arrives.
I started out with a PSP-1000, 2000, Go, and eventually ending on my current 3000. Each prior unit kept in mint shape and sold off to help pay for the new one. Got a good price for each btw.
Edit: oops. Actually i destroyed my Phat-1000 in a modding accident lol.
Well, funny thing is, I dont buy anything extra to take care of my electronic devices (handheld or otherwise) and yet after years they still look nice and well, pretty much the same way they looked when I opened them. I dont assume everyone takes as good a care of their shit as I do mine so sure, extra shit may be needed to keep it from getting fucked up for some people.
Still, better safe than sorry. Another good reason is if you ever let somebody else play your unit. In which case you damn well better have some protective measures in place lol.
I don’t like to let others use it but its happened before. For example, a friend who is a big God of war & Metal Gear fan, but didn’t have a PSP wanted to play the latest titles. So i let him borrow it for a bit.

You must be one of those guys who buys portables…then only plays them at home (basically defeating the purpose). You carry your shit around, you WILL need a screen protector and a hard case.
Man, Sony really is shooting themselves in the foot on the Vita…taking their sweet time with compatibility for ps1 and psp online prices (they really also need to work on allowing psn exclusives like sf3 and other fighters to be played on Vita as well), not to mention no ports of great previously released games (guess that’s up to the game devs) while we wait for Vita exclusives will doom this system. When exclusives are so few and far between, you can’t starve your supporters and expect them to have confidence in you. You have to keep interest up. You can’t go like 5 months with a just couple sorry EA sports titles ports, a ported kids title, and a couple bs apps, and think you’re gonna be ok. You have to keep people looking at your shit, not looking down the road some 5-6 months for a game that’s already translated to be finally released (Gravity Daze)…otherwise the sales are gonna (already are, actually) dry up, fickle gamers will (and are) selling their Vitas, and Sony will have to do a price drop, thereby losing even MORE money per unit. They’ve got nobody to blame poor sales on other than themselves.
You want people to care about your hardware, you have to saturate them with software…not the way Nintendo systems do it, with shovelware glares at Ubisoft (I’m WATCHING you…). These sporadic releases are causing a massive drop in interest. And Namco needs to step their game up and quit playing around w/ bs Ridge Racer. TTT1 (maybe reskinned with 5’s beefier models and redone stages) or a 5 and 6 bundle (minus 6’s home campaign mode, arcade, vs, and online only) would be fuckin’ SWEET. It’s like devs, and hell, even sony themselves are scared to touch the Vita. What gives?

Disgaea 3 was the last RPG that I actually managed to beat. Most RPGs usually lose me before the end, but Disgaea 3 was a blast from start to finish.
Thank you.
Hey, Ridge Racer is awesome. I’ve never been one for racing games, many are hit & miss, but the Ridge Racer series has been pretty solid. I loved both games for the PSP in particular(though PSP RR2 was basically an expansion pack for RR1. The casual type will probably think they’re the same game lol).

I’m hoping the Vita reaches must-have status by the time my birthday rolls around in June. Once they get cracking on the emulation front, I’m there.
