but wait a minute that Phantasy Star PSP looks more like PSU rather than PSO.
Which is also online. If this was, say, an old school style Phantasy Star game, I wouldnât fault it for lacking in the online category, but trying to replicate the PSO/PSU experience without online just seems like itâs missing the point.
Monster Hunter Freedom 2 is 16 bucks at Gamestop. Despite my annoyance at the lack of online play, the price was too good to pass up, and so far the game is much more entertaining than 1 was.
Hey folks,
I know some of these questions have probably been asked before but I thread searched and didnât find anything soâŚ
Iâve got the God of War PSP, a PSP-2000. It is possible to downgrade the firmware and then put CFW on it right? What firmware should I downgrade to if so?
P.S. I have a magic memory stick and pandora that a friend made.
You might want to make sure which M33 version the magic memory stick installs before you install it because only 3.60 version and up works on the PSP-2000âs. If its anything later than that, it should be good to go. Just put your magic memory stick in while its off, then pop the battery in and itll turn on by itself.
Welcome to the world of PSP homebrew
the magic memory stick will put the CFW on there. Iâm running 3.71 M33-4 and itâs fine. any of the M33 CFWs are fine actually
Cool, quick question where do I get the 3.4 and 3.5 sony firmwares that I need to install in my pandora_slim directory?
Edit: MechZZ, my salutes as always!
You spoke too soon. :amazed:
Yep, I bricked it. How? WellâŚI was following the directions here and here:
http://forums.noobz.eu/general-discussion/downgrading-3-60/0/
http://pcpspipod.blog83.fc2.com/blog-entry-110.html
and trying to install 3.60 just for the time being. So I dragged the files into the correct directories and then tried to activate the file on the PSP. When I did that it seemed to be working and then a message came up that the game could not be played. I double clicked the file again and the PSP reset. Hmm I thought, ok? Maybe it worked? So I put in the pandora battery and started it up. But no options menu popped or anything. Currently have no response from the PSP. Damn.
I know people were talking about unbricking optionsâŚI guess I need them now.
those guides, if you could call them that, were completely wrong. First of all, the chinese site appeared to be using a 1.50 or fat PSP with 1.50 kernel as Slims donât run homebrew that are kxploit patched. From what you said earlier, I thought your friend already setup the MMS and Pandora battery to take you directly to the 3.60 M33-3 install.
What you can try next, is the process that I used to install 3.71 M33-2. I donât know if this will work but its worth a try I guess.

You might want the help of a friendâs PSP to get the MMS setup again. Also sounds like you arenât getting a response when you have your Pandora battery in there, remove it and go back to the original. Youâll want to remake another MMS using this guide.
Site was Japanese, but yeah, point taken.
I know people do a lot to help PSP noobs out, but the problem is that information has just become too voluminous and itâs quite hard to wade through. I figured the file installation part of the process would be the simplest but ate shit hard due to following those two shitty guides. Damn.
I donât think the method youâre suggesting will help me given that the PSP wonât boot with either battery, or even when the power cord is in.
Have your friend install Despertar del Cementerio v5, which has CFW 3.90M33.
the reason why I gave you those guides and why I didnât say anything earlier was that I thought your friend gave you an installer which included Despertar del Cementario which is what all of us used to install our firmware. On mine, it boots right up to a screen that says Install 3.80 M33 or Install 3.80 Official and another option to dump the firmware.
So yeah, follow the guides, or follow BIGWORMâs advice to have your memory stick reformatted to be a Desperatar MMS and itll boot up just fine. You see, if your friend did the MMS correctly you wouldntâ have had to fuck with ANY files. All you would have had to do is press a button and youre straight.
edit:
an improperly made MMS, or no MMS at all, with a Pandora Battery installed, you will get a blank screen, this is normal because its only with a proper MMS that you will see any sort of service menu. That is why I gave you links to recreate the MMS (while also have an installer for CFW), a proper MMS will display the options regardless of what state your PSP is in.
Cool, Iâll work on getting an MMS put together. Still have all the hardware of course so it should be a matter of just meeting up and putting it together. Appreciate all the help Coffeerox especially.
btw, download the full version of this file

thats exactly what I used and its pretty much a foolproof process as it tells you what to do each step during the MMS creation process. When you go to put the pandora battery in itll be just like what I said, press the button it says to install M33 and it installs. Ignore what I gave you earlier, this is a lot easier. Youâll still need a PC USB reader for your memory stick or another PSP that boots to firmware.
where do i downgrade?
Just to confirm, if she installs this on my MMS and I put it into my bricked PSP and hit power, it should start up right? Because at the moment I donât have another way to access files via the PSP.
Yeah, just make sure that you have a matching pandora battery, hold L trigger on boot, and it should start right u.
