Official NBA Thread 2k9-2k10 "Fantasy B-Ball & regular NBA talk"

Snaq hasn’t been a positive factor on any team since 2005, 6 tops. For the remainder of his career, he’ll be a liability when it comes to fast breaks and getting his front line involved (and that whole ‘free game delay/empty possession from missed FTs’ thing). AI was a bad teammate, but his skills as a player didn’t look bad before he stopped giving a fuck. If he has the will to cooperate, he doesn’t have to have another embarrassing season (whenever the season starts for him).

You answered it yourself. AI’s skills as a player are excellent, but basketball is a team game. He’s never known to be a good team player.

Also, Iverson is a bigger unknown than Shaq as of now. At least with Shaq in Cleveland we generally know what to expect from him…both the good and the bad.

With AI you have no idea, especially on a team like the Grizzlies with their current roster. Will he change his playstyle and give up the ball more often, or force unnecessary shots? Will they have chemistry/locker room issues? Can two black holes co-exist? And the most important question…will he go to practice? :wonder:

I just don’t get the point of throwing shots at AI before he plays a game this season.

But seriously, Shaq looked like a fatass at their last game.

Shaq was a very good player for the Phoenix Suns. Last season he was their best player. I think that they’re going to miss him greatly. If any other center not named Dwight Howard averages 18 points 8 rebounds with over a block per game while leading the league in Field Goal percentage (.609) and Effective Field Goal percentage (.611) they’d have a great season. It shouldn’t be any different with Shaq even if he’s one of the best to ever play the game.

Iverson was awful for the Pistons. He shot an atrocious 41.7% from the field, under 30% from three-point range (28.3) and under 80% from the free-throw line. He also got to the line at a much lower rate than in recent seasons. I’m not sure when he suffered his injury but going by the numbers there wasn’t any time that he was good for the Pistons.

Who knows what the future holds for them but going by what’s happened in the past Shaquille O’Neal has a lot more ability left than Iverson who’s just about tapped out. Maybe last season was a fluke for him and he could return to form but I doubt it. It’s pretty telling to me that the only teams really interested in him as a free agent were the Clippers and the Grizzlies.

To be fair, his career FG% is 42%, and he was playing with a bad coach, playing on a team that was basically crumbling, and playing with an undefined role on the roster. I don’t think anyone would be able to deliver good numbers in that situation, let alone expect AI to put up AI-esque numbers. I won’t say he’s already out of gas, but like Taito said we should give him a chance to show everyone that last season was just an outlier in his dominant career.

He’s been with Adidas since day one.

Beasley also.

In case you forgot, we (the Heat) wanted him. Riley just didn’t want to pay him what he wanted.

We could have had him, Lamar Odom AND Carlos Boozer. Ohhh, what could have been.

That’s kind of proving my point for me. A quality team in the Heat didn’t feel that he was worth very much. Grizzlies and Clippers thought he was worth more than that and we know all about their historical track records.

Assuming that all of those excuses for Iverson’s struggles are true what makes you think that being in Memphis is any better for him? I guess when he plays terribly again the same excuses can still apply.

Got a few spots open for a Dynasty League (keep everyone league) that drafts this Sunday at 4 p.m. EST. Shoot me a PM with your e-mail if you are interested.

imo.

Are you sure GEO?:rolleyes::rofl::looney:

man it’s been some crazy trades going on in our league last night!

Ramon Sessions for T.J. Ford is not a crazy trade. I don’t count Brand or Garnett because both their knees have a self-destruct sequence that has been initiated and will go off in the first game of the season.

imo.

Now Captain Jack is disappointed at his teammates too. This will not turn out well in Golden State.

KOBE! KOBE! KOBE!

I can see A-MO starting over captain jack at the start of the season. They are going to trade him. I can feel it yo!

Brand didn’t fit into what the 76’ers was trying to do from what I can remember from last year. It seem like he slowed that team down from running up and down the cour. Ask V.S. since he’s a 76ers fan. He always hurt. K.G. looked good in preseason. Didn’t look lie any problems with the knee. He was catching alley oops last night.

I guess no one has NBAtv? advantage ME!:wgrin:

I have NBA TV. Fios includes that channel for free. I even watched the Wizards/Lebron-less Cavs yesterday.

I’m guessing you watched the entire Fantasy review segment for each position on there.

You paid too much.

Is Shaq + Rashard Lewis for Al Jefferson a good trade?

I don’t think it is, but I wanted to hear from everyone else.

It’s a good trade for somebody.

I think shinny is overrating the value of his Shard + Shaq package.

But if it’s both for just Big AL then that’s a bit silly too.

Rashard Lewis is on the Peja career path which I want no part of.

Shaq won’t be doing much in Cleveland, probably 10/10 and a block while he kills your FT%.

Al Jefferson is legit top-5 center with some injury concerns.

Like matrix said, it is a good trade for someone.

imo.
