Official NBA Thread 2k9-2k10 "Fantasy B-Ball & regular NBA talk"

Developing a jump shot never hurt anyone. There are plenty of centers that dominated the game around the basket from a rebounding and shot blocking standpoint while still being able to hit from the baseline and 15 feet out.

Patrick Ewing
Hakeem Olajuwon
David Robinson
Alonzo Mourning
Yao Ming

I would’ve preferred him developing more post moves, but being able to stretch the defense as a center is still a very good thing to have.

No fuck that D.howard needs a 3 point shot!:xeye: Only dirk N and mantu bol can say they was over 7 foot tall and could hit 3 pointers with the best of them. Start developing that 3 point shot right now dwight.

All those guys could still get into the low post and score at will there though - something that we were all hoping Dwight could work towards this offseason. Right now I think it’s still way too relatively easy to keep a guy that big and strong from dominating the way he should in the low post.

Having a jumpshot never hurt anybody, but an overdependence on a subpar (or even a solid) jumpshot is a big weakness a lot of NBA players have. I would have thought the easiest and most essential way Dwight needs to improve is to be able to create high quality shots on his own in the low post, instead of being able to spread the floor. Who’s he spreading the floor for…? …Vince?

All the three point bombers on that team are supposed to spread the floor for Dwight, not the other way around.

obv g force should be in the ASG, but he goes too unnoticed.

maybe they don’t like his bad habit of moving his mouth piece in and out of his mouth while playing the game.:xeye: Shit is crazy yo. i saw him dunk on zaza and pick he mouth piece up off the court and put it back in his mouth. that’s some nasty shit yo!:xeye:

And then they all go high fiving themselves after handling their mouthpieces and touching the ball.

Swine flu will destroy the NBA this season, BOOK IT.

nasty yo just plain nasty!:xeye:

Iverson does that too.

Nash’s routine at the free throw line is gross too.

Except all those guys had better post games than Dwight.

Co sign!

Draft is in a few days…

Team Kevin Durant + 5 bums is in effect.

Whoever wants their wig split in 2K10, come holla at me.

i’m ready even though i think i traded too much. Oh well, its done now. See ya’ll at the draft!

You have PS3?

Yep.

Do you know that you’re the only person in the entire world (maybe an exagerration, probably not) who calls Gerald Wallace** G-Force**? His nickname is Crash. Crash. Crash.

Maybe I should call Pau Gasol the Punisher.

Regarding Dwight: Who knows. Maybe this whole jumpshooting thing is just smokescreen and that he’s actually worked on some post moves. I just find it hard to believe that that’s the only facet of his game he worked on all summer (then again, that are a lot of players that settle on what they have and choose not to improve). I hope he posts a blog titled “WHAT I DID ON MY SUMMER VACATION” with lots of pictures.

The Basketball gods are keeping Dwight Howard in check. He alreay has enough talents. Ball-handling and shooting are his weaknesses. If he didn’t have those weaknesses he’d be too powerful so that’s why he has those weaknesses.

I know Dwight wants a J so people can stop calling him a one-dimensional player. But fuck that. If a man can go 20-20 without a jump shot then so be it. It bothers me when a big shoot too many Js because then you get Andrea Bargnani and Chris Bosh who at times settle for the jumpshot rather than going to the basket.

Was Chris Bosh more of an inside player when he first entered the league, slowly becoming a more perimeter-oriented player over time? Or was he always more of a jumpshooter?
