Jamison comes back tonight, but now I don’t want to drop Hickson.

This is very unfortunate.

Am I absolutely crazy in thinking Nash is a dark horse MVP candidate?

He’s putting up some similar stats to his MVP years (which, depending on who you ask, he did/did not deserve) and has somehow led a (still) defensively challenged Amare, a 58 year old Grant Hill, and a 3 point shooting center (Frye) to the best record in the West so far.

…On second thought, I think I’m crazy.

At this point I think hes up there with the talk. I think so long as the Suns continue to win he’ll be considered.

I’m amazed at what Nash is doing, but I think I’m even more amazed at how good Grant Hill looks on the court at the age of 37. He’s re-invented himself into a very solid role player.

I wouldn’t say Nash is a dark horse at all. Almost every MVP watch blog/site has him in top 4 MVP candidates.

Bosh is getting worse defensively, maybe because he wasn’t scoring he doesn’t care, but its Triano’s job to SVG the shit out of him. Tell if he doesn’t defend GTFO the court. Because we were right there with the nuggets until Bosh let kmart backdoor the raptors to hell.

ps. I actually think Nash is a worse defender than Calderon. I watched both games last night and Calderon looked better. It was actually Bosh that killed us. We made most of our runs with him on the bench.

Oh yea…Sonny Weems is good. Get this guy more minutes.

pps. Antoine Wright has ZERO ball handling skills, everytime this guy puts the ball on the court he’s losing his handle.

Portland: 2nd in the league in Defensive Efficiency.

Feels good man.

imo.

I say he’s a dark horse because there’s no way he could win a 3rd MVP could he? That’d put him in the company of people like Bird and Magic and although Nash is good, he’s not THAT good…

Don’t care really, as long as Phoenix keeps winning!

Is this team more/less/equally talented compared to the D’Antoni Suns?

Yes he is but unfortunately management forgot how to use him effectively after the spurs kicked them out of the playoffs and his all stars kept going bust.

This we should not give a player their awards because it may taint other all starts name is a stupid opinion.

Steve Nash can’t play defense. At all. I’ve seen him try to play defense, it just seems like he’s missing that part of his brain.

If only Steve Nash was black.

Their definitely not more talented than the Marion Bell Suns. But they are even more fitted to play their run and gun style. Channing Frye is the perfect center for them.

Most talented Suns incarnation was the '04-'05 one.

Steve Nash, Joe Johnson, Quentin Richardson, Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire, with Jim Jackson and Barbosa coming off the bench.

I think the '07 Suns were better in terms of depth. Leandro Barbosa had his best season, averaging 18 points off the bench and he had improved over what we saw in 2004-05. Kurt Thomas and Raja Bell also gave them that added bit of defense although it wasn’t enough to beat the Spurs during the playoffs that year.

Frye is fantastic for them, but I don’t think it’s a huge step up from when they had Diaw. Such a shame Joe Johnson got hurt in the playoffs that first year…that team was absolutely stacked.

Nash’s numbers are definitely on par with his previous MVP campaigns and he definitely has a chance if he matches those seasons. But even those two MVP awards weren’t really unanimous.

2004-05 had no real candidates other than Shaq in Miami, and LeBron wasn’t going to get it by because Cleveland was only 42-40. Meanwhile the Suns completely blitzed the league in Nash’s first year and won 62 games after only winning 29 the year before. And even then he barely won over Shaq in the closest MVP vote ever. The Lakers were also just a 40-something win team at this point so Kobe wasn’t in the race either.

In 2005-06, the Suns won 8 less games than they did before and the Cavs won 50 games as LeBron dropped an insane 31.4/7.0/6.6/1.6/0.8 on the league. The fact that Nash won MVP again was actually a surprise that year.

2006-07 Nash’s stats were just as good as the year before, the Suns were a 60+ win team again, and he finished second in voting. Back then he still really only had LeBron, Dirk, Duncan, and Kobe to compete with. And I don’t think Duncan’s numbers were crazy enough for voters to give him another one, Lakers were still barely jsut a playoff team so Kobe didn’t have the team success that sways MVP votes, so it was just Nash, Dirk, or LeBron.

Now…even if Nash does put up the same stats, the Suns are going to have to be like a 55+ win team to give him another shot at a MVP award. Plus there’s even more competition than before - LeBron and Kobe are now playing on championship contending teams and both have already set precedence by winning one each, Wade is healthy and putting up crazy stats again, Orlando is an elite team and Dwight’s getting votes now, and one of Melo (or Chauncey) will be up there depending on how the Nuggets do.

So even if Nash matches his previous MVP seasons from an individual standpoint, the Suns will still need to win a ton of games to put him in the discussion. And today there’s much more legitimate candidates that stand out compared to 2004-2007.

Jesus Christ, it happens like three times a game - he just absolutely loses his mind, thinks he’s LeBron or something, and just lowers his head and drives to the basket. Only he’s got no handle, no hops, and no finish, and it ends up in complete disaster 100% of the time. Triano has GOT to put an end to this, it’s absolutely insane.

I think things will improve when Reggie Evans returns. Right now Triano’s got no choice but to play Bosh significant minutes even if he is sucking defensively that night - Amir’s too small and Rasho’s just old, and Bargnani needs time off the court too. When Reggie comes back Bosh will be exposed less.

I hope.

Fuck, Nene with 20/10/5/4/4 on 8 of 13 shooting against us. That is dumb.

On the other hand, Bosh is looking as good as he ever has offensively, leads the league in FTA and total rebounds, and the Raptors are first in the league in offensive efficiency with 115.9 points per 100 possessions.

Unfortunately we are last in the league in giving up 116.7 points per 100 possessions. This is like the worst defense this franchise has ever played…and this franchise has played some terrible, terrible defense in its history.

Best thing the Suns did was drop Shaq. He should retire already.

Uh, Noah leads the league in rebounds.

SUCK IT BOSH.

81 points.

Also, Dwight needs to rebound more. 10.7 is a little too pedestrian compared to his previous averages.

Edit: Clint is talking about total boards so far this season. Bosh has 130 while Noah has 124. In terms of rebounding average, Noah leads the league.

He averaged like 20 last season. Maybe he feels that he has more help and doesn’t have to work as hard.

STOP USING STATS TO PROVE ME WRONG.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.

And yes, Dwight needs to try harder, he will now that he is back on the Dandies.

If he doesn’t, I will just trade him for Brandon Roy and Al Harrington again…oh, wait.
