Reading up on John Wall’s training/nutrition leads you to believe he’ll look like Eddie Curry in 5 years. 2011 Wiz at most looked like a 10-seed, on paper. They have some growing up to do, and they need to swap Flip for Sloan, then they’ll be worth paying attention to. At least they finally have that walking court case off their books. Wiz have a long-term upside but I’m not holding my breath.
I think the Wizards straight up need a better team. There’s too much talent to make “having upside” make your future look bright in this league in my opinion.

This league is almost nothing but young teams trying to find themselves. The rest are made up of older top players ganging up on the same team, in hopes of winning big as often as possible, before time catches up with them. The talent (and experience) gap is too big for a team to be a serious contender, without making a blockbuster trade/acquisition. I’m not expecting Washington to collect rings anytime soon --there’s a lot that the league has to fix before that ever becomes a possibility-- but with some of the current players, they can try to make the East playoffs again.
