That’s a shame, but I guess you can’t blame them. Safe bet that Greg Oden won’t be brought back either, he’s in the last year of his deal I think. These are pure centers, somewhat a rarity now in the nba.
I could see this happening to Yao a few years ago. Taller centers (7-3+) tend to have shorter, injury-riddled careers. Their bodies are more susceptible to injury and it’s extremely difficult to mold them into dominant inside players. Gheorghe Muresan was only in the NBA for 6 seasons and Zydrunas Ilgauskas’ career was always on the cusp of ending prematurely because of chronic foot problems. And then you have Yao, who has only really played the equivalent of 7 years (not counting this season and last). Rik Smits had a long career, but his foot injuries probably shaved a few years off of it as well.

Warriors won their third in a row tonight against the 76ers. I think David Lee’s elbow is finally close to 100%. He looked real strong, tonight.
Monte and Curry are absolutely insane. I’m so glad that the Warriors decided to keep Ellis. I know there was some talk to him being traded, and keeping him has turned out to be a life-saver. He’s been on fire as of late.
If you guys get a chance to watch the Warriors play, watch’em for a few minutes and check them out. They’re a much improved club and I think if they can stay healthy they have a legit shot at the playoffs.
Maybe we can trade Evan Turder, SEE WHAT I DID THERE?, for Yao’s contract.

IDK I still think Evan Turner has a ton of potential. I have to admit I am not sure what the problem is with him. I know this is easy to say but imo he would benefit greatly on playing on a team like Phoenix. He could be the secondary ball handler not have to be a primary scorer and work on his overall game next to a HOF point guard.
