It’s a timing thing man. I get off work and one of the first things I do every day is check the fun league. Plus, as I said on one of the scoreboards my team is so awful this year I’m just up for all kinds of LULZ trades that people send my way (This all likely started when I discovered it would cost around $50 to retain Granger. No way I’m using 1/4th of my budget on him).
Also, to everyone in the Fun League, get your Army jokes in while you can this season. Next season I’ll be in the Army for a month, tops, and then I’ll go back to being a civilian again.

It’ll be hard to top Arenas’ six year, $111 million contract.
That’s like…more than $18 million a year. So far in the last two seasons they’ve paid him like $36 million to play 34 games. And this year they are paying him another $18 million or so for 16/3/5 on one of the five worst teams in the league, and to hopefully stay away from John Wall.
Joe Johnson gets that much for 17/4/5 on a playoff team at least, and most of all…he is on the court. So there’s that. If Joe Johnson plays in just 16 more games this season, that signing will have already matched the first two years of Gilbert’s contract.
Although I don’t want to imply at all that paying a 34 year-old Joe Johnson $25 million is a great deal by any means either.
But it should never be forgotten exactly how fucking stupid that Gilbert Arenas contract is and was, even when they signed it. If a guy misses 69 games in a season because of bad knees…maybe it’s not a great idea to throw $111 million at him.

There’s bad contracts all over. Baron Davis isn’t worth the 13 million he’s getting paid right now, and Redd with his entire salary on medical bills. Lewis we’ve already touched on, running on 19 million with 3 years left is quite kobe-esqe. Rudy Gay in couple of years will look overpaid not unless he becomes something more than a complementary player.
