Kobe just sonned Smush Parker, Chris Mihm and Kwame:
I do not blame the Lakers for Mihm, that looked like a damn good trade when they made it. It was looking good at first but he just could not stay healthy. He lost all his athleticism with multiple knee injuries. I remember Viscant saying that the Lakers had one of the worst medical staff and was rushing Mihm back before he was healed so he kept reinjuring himself.

Now I’m curious about the origin of his nickname. Did he give it to himself, or did somebody give it to him and he just embraced it?
Mihm was a decent player, just not a starter-quality center. Or a healthy center. Throwing Smoosh and Kwamay under the bus is perfectly justified, though.
Nah dude was looking legit before all the injuries. I do not think he would have been All Star Calibur but he was well on his way to being a 15 and 9 guy consistently.
I agree Chris Mhim was a monster before injuries took him down, I can’t believe people were comparing him to Eric Dampier at one point.
My HAWKS will be better than the national guys are saying (8th place in the east)
Hawks are going to be garbage but it is actually a good thing for them. ESPN has Devin Harris starting over Jeff Teague lol.
A foot/leg injury on the Lakers was basically a death sentence.
2006 Walton was a legitimate NBA player. People forget this but it’s true, he was the Lakers 3rd best player that year (not saying much). He was leading the league in 3 point % for awhile. He hurt his ankle. Missed 1/3 the season. Never the same guy after that. He couldn’t jump so he couldn’t rebound. He played bad defense before but when he could no longer move laterally his defense went to “worst in the league” status. His shooting stroke never came back because he had no lift. He started shotputting it instead of actually shooting. Good thing we gave him a lifetime contract right after he hurt himself!
Same thing happened to Vujacic. He was probably the Lakers 4th best player in the finals vs. Boston. Definitely a part of their crunch time rotation (Fisher, Vujacic, Kobe, Odom, Gasol). He hurt his ankle in the preseason. Same thing happened to him. He lost his speed, it took him 4 months before he was able to land normally instead of jumping and landing on his “good” leg. His career was over. Good thing we paid him right before that happened also!
Mihm was more of an accumulation although like above he had an ankle injury and his career was over. The same ankle was hurt for 2 years until finally he was just like “screw it” and retired. I think we traded him to Memphis for a 2053 2nd rounder and gave them money for it, but his career was already over by that point, that was just a luxury tax dump. Chris Wallace is always down to hook up the Lakers and make a buck in the process.
This trend has gone on for quite awhile. Shaq had an 8 month toe injury. Kobe had a 4 month ankle injury in 2005. Karl Malone was the greatest or 2nd greatest NBA iron man and blew out his knee on the Lakers watch within a couple months of coming to the team. And we’re not even going to touch the Bynum saga.
Kobe and Gasol (the 2 smartest players on the Lakers) are smart enough to go to their own doctors when they get hurt. Kobe left the country for his knee and Gasol followed the advice of Spanish doctors instead of Lakers doctors when he hurt his hamstring. Phil Jackson kept needling him saying he wasn’t hurt but Gasol trusted his guys instead of the Lakers staff. Best decision he ever made.
For Dwight Howard/Steve Nash’s sake, let’s hope he brought some Phoenix doctors with him or that the Lakers staff is better at dealing with back injuries than they are with leg injuries.

I remember Mihm being one of those guys who shrunk during road games… but it’s hard to tell what his potential was, when he played for lottery and 1st round squads, and was warming the bench early on. It’s like speculating how effective Luke Walton should have been as a point forward before all the injuries kicked in.
Anyway I just meant Mihm wasn’t a bum like the other two.
EDIT: Vujacic was effective on both ends of the floor when healthy. Great back up SG. Mitch is a godtier GM, but has a track record of picking up players whose potential for injury outweighs their talent.
Devin will not start over teague. That’s someone who’s never seen the hawks play until the playoff’s. How can you be an official nba blogger and not know about every team in the nba?
ESPN has all kinds of wacky shit, seriously go look at their depth charts for teams. You will laugh your ass off at some of them.
holy shit lowry for 11 bucks?!?! makes my decision for keepers much easier.
when is the draft?
for fbb league?
Man looking at Denver they should be a threat this year, AI is not a top guy but he is a damn good all around player.
Looking at Utah to and they have Marvin Williams as the starting SF, that shit will not happen. It will be Millsap, Favors and Jefferson.
Dude you lost your team. You’re not in the league anymore.
Well he’s on the Raptors now so his value has to come down.
