Alright, my cough 1st cough major, and I didn’t do too bad. I was there Thurs. for casual free-play, and Sunday for MvC2 tourney. I did alright, but I still got a long way to go.
Now, the shout-outs:
NSJ: Eliver (KaiSingrz), Ace (Taiji), Mike (TheGreaterForce), Bryan (Papa Trunks), and Josh (Def1n1tely), you guys are all too dope. You guys are too good, Eliver’s S/D, Ace’s MSP, and Mike’s IM, Bryan’s commentary while takin’ footage ;), and Josh’s all around ownage of everything we played on Thursday are all too sick. PLEASE tell me you guys are puttin’ some of those vids you got online…;).
Blazinflo and Sentinalllll: HOLY SHIT! If you guys think Justin’s posts are fucked up, jus’ wait ‘til you meet the guy in person. This guy’s is 398753759x funnier than anything he can ever post. Denny’s and the hotel were jus’ too much, the guy can bust out random shit talk outta NOWHERE. Simply amazing. You know what else is simply too good, his Cable. Everyone jus’ gets shot, his pimp gun is too buff. Too bad he couldn’t save you against Spiral…or Valle :lol: Now Jon, there is no hype w/ that guy, everything people say about that guy’s game is the truth. He’s a BEAST! His Santhrax is jus’ :evil:.
Taz: We finally met, and that guy is crazy. His combos are sick, and that glitch you showed us was hella funny. You’re Sent/Psylocke is too dope. Too bad we never played each other though.
Josh “ComboMasher” P. and Jose: Cool guys, and my tournament matches w/ Josh were close. Good games. You’re good, jus’ keep playing.
Guys for Columbia: You guys were cool. And Chris’ (I think that’s your name, sorry) Cable | Cammy | Sakura was pretty mean. Again, sorry, I’m not good w/ names.
Ratio1Beatdown: Cool seein’ and talkin’ to you again man. Don’t worry about this time and make up for it at EVO.
Starbury: You owned me too hard in our winners’ bracket match man :eek:. Anyways, hope too meet/play you again…after I train…A LOT!
Also, I’d like to apologize to anyone I didn’t introduce myself too (namely, THE PASSION, Xecutioner, Jummpee, popoblo, VDO, Matrix, Josh Wong, Josh Wigfall, and JustinW). I was either too busy, too shy, or jus’ flat out forgot, my bad. I was the filipino guy from Chicago who wasn’t MadBooFace and had a little brother (who is better than I am :(. I know, :lame:, but true) around.
All you guys can hit me up on AIM, my SN is in my profile.
Random highlights/observations:
- I still suck (it’s either that or my standards are too high for my skill level). I went 2-2, shouldn’t have lost that lost game…but then again, that’s why I suck.
- I also realized how weak my IM is compared to other people. Learned lots of new shit.
- Rogue/Tron owns me HARD. Rogue is also gettin’ really popular.
- Everyone is under-rated until proved otherwise.
- A2 is the dopest game ever.
- Justin is too good at everything…winning 7 of 10 tourneys = buttload of $$$.
- S/D is makin’ a comeback.
- Watson and Choi actually did play MvC2 to decide who gets 2nd in ST. No bullshit. They went 2 outta 3. And I’m positive on this becuase I’m the only one who was taping they’re matches (and no, I probably can’t put them online). Watson played Strider | Doom | CapCom and BH | Cable | CapCom, and Choi played Scrub. Choi won the 1st one, Watson the 2nd, and Choi again in the 3rd. Also, I’m completely serious when I say this…they’re matches were better than 98% of the actual MvC2 tourney’s matches.
- Chicago, as a whole, did pretty well. But some performances should have been better.
- THE PASSION can still play IM.
- Rick Mears, Sentinalllll, and Blazinflo are all under-rated and hella good.
- Finding people for their matches, figuring out which machines are free, taping matches, and playing in the tournament is exhausting as all hell.
IIRC, MvC2 Top 8 results:
1st = Justin “JustinW” Wong (New York)- RowTron v1, MSP, Santhrax
2nd = Desmond “Xecutioner” Pinkney (New York) - Santhrax, Scrub
3rd = Josh Wigfall (New York) - MSP, RowTron v2
4th = Jon “Sentinalllll” Sindel (Florida) - Santhrax
5th = Brandon “Demon Hyo” Deshields (Pennsylvania)- RowTron v2
5th = George “Juicy G” Fed (Illinois) - Storm <Y> | Sentinel <Y>| Cable <B>, RowTron v1, MSP, Scrub
7th = Shawn “Starbury” Morgan (New Jersey) - Sentinel | Storm | Cyclops, RowTron v2
7th = Sergio “Player Unknown” Valadez (Illinois) - Magneto <A> | Storm <A> | Sentinel <Y>, RowTron v2, Scrub
I’m not sure on 5th thru 7th, but those are the top 4 for sure.
Possibly more later.
