Official 'Kitty' class boards thread

Nope.

 1. It would help me out greatly if you’d send a little 10 cent paypal to marcus@marcuspost.com marked ‘for goods’ and mentioning your handle in the notes. I’ll mail out a replacement ‘H’ ribbon cable for you to swap in.
 2. Take a good look over the ‘6’ ribbon cable at all three points where it plugs in. There’s no way that can be a firmware issue, nor fixed by reflashing the firmware.

I am having a problem with my order
how can i contact you ?

You are welcome to PM or email me (marcus@marcuspost.com) for any troubles ordering or any issues involving money you dont feel comfortable discussing in public.
I should be very clear though, any technical questions need to be asked here in the threads

Done.

well here’s what I just did. I had that same problem again tonight, with the square button going out, and L2 and R1 becoming L2+square and R1 becoming R1+square, so I opened up my stick. I checked to ensure all the wires were in properly, disconnected everything, plugged it back in, same problem. I plugged and unplugged the stick from my PS3 about a dozen times and it didn’t go away. I checked the pull-away thing on the USB cable and it didn’t go away. Then I flashed the firmware, and it went back to normal right then. I don’t mean to question the master, but still.

So it’s a common occurance then? Next time it happens, take the stick to a PC and check out how it’s behaving in the game controller applet on the PC. The only thing that sounds even remotely close is a problem with the buttons being remapped.

I wonder if he tested with the top off and it was upside down, thus having all the buttons pressed

Nah. I think he would have caught that. Im thinking either the button remapping is getting activated (explains why reflashing would fix something replugging wouldn’t do, ‘buttons no workie, then eventually work pressing other/random stuff’) or problem with the 6 pin TES harness cable (explain apparent focus on those three specific trigger buttons he described, possibly with mixed results after furious mashing), or unforseen shorting from stray metal.

hi toodles, im just having a little problem with TE-kitty

when i press my lp or x button, it will sometimes register and sometimes it will drop inputs. I’ve tested all the buttons (all 7…no problems) I also uploaded a video so that it will explain much better.

you can see in the video that i mashed x and y button to compare. mashing y, there’s no drop input as you can see in the LED lit. Mashing x you can see LED that in sometimes it will turn off(thus input drops). I have already check all the wirings and tested with kitty and forced Xbox mode on the pc but the problem still occur. hopefully there a easy solution that I’ve overlook. thank you

Your button is dying. Buy a new button.

yup that works, thank you very much toodles.

would i be able to use a kitty with just the main TE pcb? Like without the guide pcb at all?

You wouldn’t be able to force Xbox360 mode, you would be perma stuck in DP mode (no MvC2 for you), you would 100% have to drill a hole for a Guide button, prolly bunches of others I cant think of at the moment. Can it work? Mostly. Will it work right? Meh. You’ll lose some functionality without it, and I wont be doing any tweaks to the code to get around them.

Made the order
I hope everything goes well

Toodles Will you provide a full pin-out of the TE kitty?

Sounds time consuming and I guess I dont understand who would gain what from doing one. Pretty much everthing is already labelled on the bottom of the board. Did you have some specific question in mind?

I replaced the wire you sent me. Here’s how it went down.

Step 1) I plugged the stick into my PS3 before even opening it up. I put on MvC2, went to button config, and confirmed the following. The square button was not functioning at all. The L1 button was registering as square+L1. The R2 button was registering as square+R2. Also, turbo seemed to be activated for square while it was doing this.

Step 2) I opened up the stick, replaced the cable with the one you sent me. I plugged the stick back in after replacing it, and the problem was still there, absolutely no change. I replaced the cable again, with the other spare you sent me, and still no change.

Step 3) I plugged the stick into my computer with the new cable installed, used the firmware update tool to flash the firmware, and the problem went away, the stick works fine. I tried unplugging and replugging it in five or six times after just to see if I could replicate the issue, but it didn’t come back. I’ll post again as soon as as it malfunctions again, and I’ll try to remember what I did with the stick between malfunctions.

EDIT: Okay, I used it on my 360 for about an hour, then tried it on my PS3 and it’s malfunctioning again. also, if you hit the stick, it disconnects, then reconnects after a second.

You should clean up your install so knocking the stick around doesn’t cause things to touch.

I bought my 3rd TE Kitty for a friend for XMAS and we keep getting a USB unrecognized device error in Windows. The PCB gets power as the buttons LEDs light up. Anyone have any idea what can be causing this?

How goes the firmware update?

Unexpected error. Even if we flash you see a DOS box open up and immediately close and nothing happens.
