$300 is a bit…how should I say…steep?
It’s a nice stick, but no one really needs it at this time. The only purpose for these sticks is to saturate the Asian market because Madcatz hasn’t really tried too hard there yet. I read something a while back stating that most top players in Japan had imported Madcatz TE sticks from the US. Looks like Hori just wanted to step up their game a notch to compete with Madcatz.
The TE was designed so well that it basically covers everything already and there is nothing new or necessary to the Hori model. The only thing better in the stick would probably be the PCB. It’s clearly not a good stick to take around… my TE stick fits perfectly in my lap/backpack/table, if it were any bigger it wouldn’t fit. The price is also two or three times the cost.
It’s a nice collectors item.
Kinda. This is a low production item and it’s not really meant to penetrate any market as much as become Hori’s halo or flagship product to increase buzz for the rest of Hori’s line.

356.317 AUD before shipping is a bit rich for my liking though.
tough it out with my “old” Round 1 dual modded TE’s though. I still rate those as the BEST stick i’ve owned (i havent owned many though :D)

The design changes look like exactly what I was hoping for. Having the turbo buttons in the new HRAP location along with the black boarder really improve upon what was initially shown.
I don’t really get why people think this stick is so overpriced, or where people think they are going to find a custom using an actual vewlix panel.
On the Akihabara site the panel is going for over $300 by itself without shipping. I am sure Per’s vewlix case cost him a hell of a lot more than $300-400 when all was said and done.
If you want an HSS you are going to spend around the same amount as this stick, and you still would have to mod it and or change the panel.
I have tried pm’ing all the really good builders on this site to get a custom like Per’s made and was turned down by every single one of them.
I’ll agree that the stick is wide, but I don’t think it is a deal breaker. It is only about six inches wider than the new HRAPS. I didn’t find those to be anywhere close to too wide, so I don’t think another six inches is going to be the end of the world. Also the hss-0130 is a lot wider. Believe just the panel itself is around 25 inches…already about 3 inches longer. You don’t see threads about that stick filled with people complaining about the width.
Also, people who are looking to get this most likely already have another stick and wouldn’t be traveling with it anyways, so I don’t see it as a problem.
IDK, find me someone willing to make me a stick of Per’s quality using a real vewlix panel for a decent price, otherwise I fail to see this being a rip off for someone wanting a vewlix replica stick.

a lot of people complain about the price, and they are marked up, but if you are in the business of buying arcade boards, monitors, etc. this is one of the less expensive items.
i dont rememberwhat it costed they go for like 350-400 stock but the hss-0130 kills this stick lol and it comes with a arcade panel so you can change it to what ever you want here are so many panels you could buy and its around the same price but anyway i would got this if it was around 250 but i can’t justify spending that much on a stick especially since i still have my mint all sanwa ps1 hss-0130 i rather have a cab though:)
That’s actually one thing I was wondering about…could you put a different Vewlix panel in this?

Don’t think it is an actual vewlix panel because it is a couple inches shorter…I assume (delta 32 cab cp can take either sega or vewlix panels. Seeing the overall length of the stick is about 22 and just the sega panel is about 25 I would assume the panel is exactly what you would find on a vewlix cab).
However, without measurements, it seems to have the exact same layout so you might be able to have different overlays lazer cut to fit (pm’d the guy who makes the TE plexi about this a while back). Also the overlay material seems to be the same as an actual vewlix panel, which is important to me. Looks a lot more authentic than some photoshop printout made at kinkos.
edit: how does the hss-0130 kill this stick?
just for the same price i feel the hss-0130 is more worth it you can switch with actual arcade panels and it is a actual mold of what you would play on a astro cab same as this its just a little shorter but if you were using the stick for tourneys then this viewlex one is better the hss-0130 is huge
Yeah, the fact the hss usual actual panels is one of the things I like best. Like how the hori stick opens like an actual vewlix cab though…plus like you said it is a little shorter.
Hopefully there will be some high resolution shots of it soon so we can get a better idea…maybe other stuff changed from when it was first shown.
true dat if you are just gonna use it for house play id say hss-0130 all the way to be honest maybe ill get lucky and find 1 for cheaper down the road or get a harp rap v3 or whatever its called the one they only have for ps3 atm the black 1 to see if i like the feel and wrist room
