Official HORI RAP Premium VLX (VEWLIX) - VX (360); V3 (PS3) - Arcade Stick Thread

Funny you say that, they’re re-releasing the Virtual On sticks…
Hori’s Twin Stick EX controller returns for Virtual-On Force | Joystiq

Hori already is offering it with a promotion.
I talked to the rep at Evo and he said anyone that preordered online will be refunded the $30 so we are getting it for $269.99 just as if we bought it at Evo.
I’m probably going to email them again just to confirm this but he was pretty adamant about it.

Doh! In my defense it seems to be coinciding with a new release of a VOOT game. It also looks slightly different from the older ones that look like the old HRAP body. It seems to look like the V3 on the sides.

Wait… Why is there speculation that the VLX will be sold at an inflated price at resale? Won’t Hori continue to reproduce the VLX? It seems like a flagship product.

It’s just a guess but a $300 stick twice as long as it needs to be is a hard sale. For that amount of money you could get 2 TE sticks. The reason why I think it will be a limited run is the same reason the Steel Battalion was limited. They don’t want to end up with a stock pile of these large boxes in a warehouse. Never know they could change their mind like with the Voot sticks pointed out.

The VLX is a wildly decadent item, but the quality of the arcade stick is soooo nice. I was able to play it on my lap at the MvC3 booth and I was super impressed by how it felt. The weight and slip proof mating on the bottom really makes it stable.

Anyways, I hope Hori will reproduce the VLX after the initial batch sells out.

You have a very luxury situation. You’re hesitating to pay $300 and think about an “inflated” price of $400 next year. I e-mailed HORI and they told me that they will not release this stick in Europe and that I need to import it from Japan through a proxy shop. In Europe, the only way to get a VLX is to pay about $500 ~ $600. I could only dream of getting the VLX for $300 including shipping. I had to pay almost $600 for this. $300 including shipping for this stick is a steal. I wouldn’t hesitate 1 second to buy this if I lived in America. On eBay, several VLX’s have been available for $400 but most were more than $500 since the beginning.

I’m really trying to justify buying something this big. The price seems really reasonable. Looks like they start shipping out today.

I think it just depends man.
For this price of this, you could get ( I think the deal is still going on ) x3 Round 2 Tournament Edition sticks.

Just put it in perspective…

I pre-ordered and everything, and this morning I found the charge from Hori gone, and my $299.99 back. I mean, heck–I’m $300 richer, but is my order still going? I would really like to own this stick.
(And if Hori decides to give me back my $300, that’d be fantastic, too!)

My order shipped!

Anyone know if it’ll also be 30 bucks off too for the non preorders? Also, does anyone know if they’ll ship to Canada? Its an option in box for countries but it doesn’t change the drop down box for states into Canadian provinces. :frowning:

I just got a UPS shipping confirmation as well. Should be in by Monday.
But I still haven’t gotten the charge on my account…

UPS says that mine is arriving tomorrow! Wish I knew this was coming stateside. My jap one was around 640 USD.

.

I’m still waiting on my shipping confirmation =(

So has anyone received a price adjustment that people at EVO were getting for these pre-orders?

shipping confirmation here too. You might not see a charge until tomorrow or something. A label and tracking number can be generated and sent the moment the label is batched out for the day so it doesn’t actually mean your order shipped yet. Like if you enter the tracking it probably won’t register right now

mmm, picked mine up at EVO.

loving it.

the stick sticks taller than on TEs but is a bit closer to the buttons. not a big deal for me but for people with bigger hands it might matter. also how you grip your stick could affect it.

Did you have to take it on a plane, or drive? I could not imaging having to buy new luggage while in Vegas just to take that stick home.

The VLX was truly awesome and I would have bought one with blackjack winnings if i had another day or two. I actually like the 360 version’s 4 colored buttons a little better than the ps3’s all white which is just like the HRAP 3 SA.
