I’m going to probably be in the minority on this, but I really don’t mind if this game doesn’t use 2D sprites. HD 2D visuals are extremely time consuming and not very cost-effective. Sure, they would look gorgeous, but in order to get the game out within budget limitations and in a reasonable amount of time (and just saying “I’m willing to wait however long it takes” doesn’t really solve the issue. The more time that’s spent on it, the more money it costs), something’s gotta give, and unfortunately, I’m worried that something would be gameplay and other content. Calamity Trigger and KoF12 were both beautiful games, but CT had notorious balance issues, and KoF12 just felt unfinished. Sure, sequels and updates help alleviate those problems, but it’s certainly better to get the best product possible out the door from minute one.
