Official and Only Team Building Thread (ALL TEAM BUILDING TOPICS GO HERE)

Hi, I’m pretty new to the game. I’m planning on making my team as Strider and Wesker. Not so sure what my third should be, but I was thinking Dorm.

I’d put Dorm up front and Strider last, actually. There’s certainly nothing wrong with playing Strider first but Vajra assist and X3 Ouroboros are just so ridiculous that it’s hard to justify doing so other than simply going against the grain.

Hey im starting to play UMVC 3 and I have in mind my team :
Zero , Ryu(Hadouken) , Wesker(gun shot)

I choose Ryu cuz i main him on TvC :stuck_out_tongue: , and Zero its my favorite char (and the other main on TvC)
Can you please tell me or give me a couple of advice about the Team order or strats . Thanks =)
oh and the assist for Zero and Ryu , im not sure if Hadouken its his best for combos or getting inside

Wolverine on Point, Magneto as my Mid and Sentinel on Anchor.

Any tips/suggestions? Trying to get some good assists in…

Sounds good. I was planning to put Wesker up first actually, but that was before I could actually think of a third and I wasn’t thinking about his gun shot.

Any tips for a noob?

Right now my team is Haggar/Ryu/Hawkeye, should I stick with that team or change it around? I’m also looking at Tasky, Nova, Cap & Frank as mains. My execution isn’t the best right now, so I’m looking for characters that aren’t big on the execution.

Who would fit in: Spencer/???/Taskmaster ?
I already tried Doom and Vergil but it isn’t really that great. I’m trying out strider right now.
Nvm Deadpool is perfect.

I want to make a team using only my favorite characters.

(7 chars total)
Sentinel, Dormammu, Firebrand, Arthur, Hsien-Ko, Trish, Zero.

Using only these guys, what’s the best competitive (tournament-based) team that I can come up with? Thanks in advance

<–Rushdown–>

Zero assisted with sentinel drones

lvl 3 xfactor Firebrand with luminous body = one speedy mofo

<–Defensive Zoning–>

Dormammu specializes with zoning and also offers mixup opportunity. He’s also very damaging, and will also be seeing strong sentinel drone usage.

<–Keepaway–>

Zeros powerup hyper is a duo-image trick, making his projectile assist throw out two projectiles instead of one. Arthur on point with this can create long strings of chip damage and projectile combos. Sentinel Drones are just as good, however if your very good with execution you can create some strong zero combos, and zero plays the mixup game much better than sentinel if you end up having to go toe to toe with an opponent. Dormammu has a great protection assist in the event your opponent can get around the projectiles, and he can also play strong keepaway with arthur, zero, or sentinel assist to back him up.

<–additional notes–>

If you can’t tell, your list of characters holds better promise mixed as a keepaway team!

Hsien-ko i haven’t used much, but she is far from effective over your other options. Look up some videos on her and take her to the lab to find out for yourself how hard of a character she is to play, and for all the effort, still isn’t very good.

Trish has been considered to be very good in the new marvel. her hyper can now hit off the ground, and her dive kick is among the best in the game. I haven’t used her much in new marvel, but she’s worth look into from what i hear. Other than that, i can’t really give you info on how she is best used. I definitely see defensive zoning to throw her B assist to good work.

This is about all i can say for now about it, when you get the chance test them out and see what you can find.

Thanks man, I’m really a more keepaway-oriented player (I play Dhalsim on SFIV) but I understand that a 100% keepaway team won’t get anywhere.
I really like Playing Sent tho, and Dormmammu.

I’ll try some team combinations and update this. I’m erally new to Marvel, I’m basically just starting because I wanna play at EVO (I now I won’t win or anything, not even get top 32, but I don’t want to be the most free guy up there)

if your on Xbox i’ll help you get some training in and teach you the ropes. I’m not tourney material since i’m not good with timing in combos, but i do know all the mechanics inside and out.

My xbox gamertag: Septic Tank53 (don’t forget the space and capped letters)

Hey man. Try deadpool with doom’s hidden missile assist. It’s easily the best assist in the game for him if you like to play keep away and it frustrates people to the point that they get sloppy so you can catch them off guard with aggressive rush down and teleports.

The assist will work really well for both hawkeye and storm also. Deadpool / storm / doom and deadpool / hawkeye / doom are both legit teams. Doom isn’t the best anchor but once you get good enough with deadpool and learn to cover hidden missiles you can run through whole teams.

Zero, Task, morrigan, trish, and captain a will probably be your toughest fights. Zero is just complete bs though so he gives everyone problems. You should be competitive with pretty much anything in the game though once you really learn to utilize the characters. Storm may not be as strong as hawkeye but she leads to a killer DHC that works extremely well if you end a combo with a happy happy trigger on a grounded opponent.

Hope this helped. GL man.

Pretty much just answered another guy with the same question but try deadpool / hawkeye / doom (hidden missiles). If you like to keepaway / zone there really is no better assist once you learn to cover it properly.

Run this team in reverse order if you want to stick with these characters. Put spencer on point / deadpool in mid with katana rama / strider on anchor with varja. Spencer is a great point character and can do some serious dmg if varja connects and strider may be the best anchor in the game with XF and oroboros.

I was wondering if Deadpool and nova shared any good team synergy, and also Deadpool vergil.

Not too sure about nova aside from deadpool giving nova a good low hitting assist.

Vergil and deadpool work well together bc rapid slash can be a good combo extender for deadpool and it pushes the opposition away full screen (air bolo > land > call rapid slash > quick work > timed right the falling character will land on rapid slash > H quick work or dash up and S for combos). You can actually call rapid slash in neutral and if it’s going to hit, super jump and bolo, which will lead to a full combo.

Also there’s the usual vergil dhc symmetry with pretty much every character in the game. Just end combos with cutting time and you can spiral swords DHC. Deadpool also provides vergil with an otg assist if you want one for combo extensions which a lot of vergils seem to like.

getting a lot of damage out of vergil is a bit hard after a launch. From the time i spent in training with him, i could never figure out anything besides MMH-d.H-df.H-Hyper. With otg, you can extend and easily get another 2-300k. So deadpool otg assist will easily be worth a lot.

another factor to consider is vergils crap otg (df.H), you can branch into a teleport to the floor again. i haven’t messed with deadpool assists, but if you use something like jam session upon vergil otg, you can teleport down and QCF M and continue a combo that way. So you may not be forced to use katana-rama if you don’t particularly like otg assists. This is actually open up quick work assist to be used in unblockables if you wish.

I think they have great synergy with each other, just don’t THC, as if vergil ends a couple frames sooner (its untested), deadpool will actually give opponent time to retaliate on vergil (if he’s on point). On the other hand, if deadpool is on point and vergil gets the final hit, you may be able to katanarama and extend it more.

Im not a big fan of either character myself, but thinking about it definitely makes me believe those two together can be deadly.

I really appreciate the info guys I do want to keep Deadpool on point Vergil wound be 2nd as for anchor still up in the air. I thought about Magneto or Hawkeye because I also know and play both of those characters and they have a projectile assist to help deadpool and vergil get in with teleport mix ups

Hawkeye could beat a keepaway spam team by himself, especially if your lvl3 XF. magneto has a superfast beam so he can also deal with them. Rushdown is easier to deal with if your magneto (in my opinion, i suck in close quarters using hawkeye) and alone can crossup and do high low mixups. If snapback or dhc’s mixup your team order, hawkeye can get much more use out of the rapid slash assist, and with QCB H jumps with hawkeye, a quickwork assist from deadpool can help protect as the opponent would need to use a standing attack to catch hawkeye. Katana rama on the other hand can extend hawkeye combos, as he could definitely make use of.

Hawkeye may be your best bet, but far be it for me to choose your team
