So this shell is really solid.

Chris and Nemesis are both point character so they cant be played as an Anchor for our team.

Then I would suggest you jump in the bandwagon and pick up Dante for your team…I think their like 10 person here playing Jill Wesker Dante as their main team.Including me.

I am a firm believer Chris can be on anchor , if ur saving xfactor. Magnum hurts too much , and any throw will lead to a quick death. So don’t file out Chris as an anchor , just my two cents.

It’s better to play Dante on point on that team. It’s way easier to level up Frank to auto level 5 with Dante in front than it is with Felicia. Dante gets the shopping cart assist and the unblockable. It really is a Dante team, and Felicia is a better anchor than him too. Another thing, it’s usually better to have a character between Dante/Felicia in that setup because the DHC synergy between the two isn’t that great.

I’ve been playing Dante/Sentinel/Felicia for a while now and I like it. Try out Dante/Frank/Felicia for a bit.

Hello there! I’m a player who is still somewhat new to this scene, and because of that, I’m currently still getting the hang of things and am currently in need of some help with some team building.

??? - Dante (α - Jam Session) - Strider Hiryu (γ - Vajira)

I wanted to use these two characters because, from what I’ve played, they seem like really fun to use characters, and they both seem to have options that could be really useful in supporting a team. The only problem I’m having is, because of my currently limited knowledge of UMvC3, I’m having a bit of trouble finding a character who has good synergy with Dante and Strider Hiryu, and benefit from their assists. If there are any characters who meet this criteria, and if I need to shuffle the order of the team to accomodate the new character, I’d be more than happy to hear your feedback on this, as I’d really like to start diversifying the options I have sooner rather than later, so I don’t get overly used to one set of characters.

I am also currently running another team. I’ve already got some advice from a few users on this forum with this team, but a second set of opinions never hurt anyone, so I’ll give this team a mention as well.

Zero (β - Hadangeki) - Doctor Doom (α - Plasma Beam) - Amaterasu (β - Cold Star)

This team was built with the intention of making a team that Amaterasu was able to fit in well with, as well as provide decent support for, as she is my favourite character to play as. Doctor Doom was chosen because of his great assist set and really good combat options. Zero was chosen since he seems to benefit a lot from Doctor Doom and Amaterasu’s assists, he is pretty good at building super meter with his long combo chains that is really useful to have around for Doctor Doom and Amaterasu, and the fact that, for the lack of better wording, he’s Zero, he’s a really solid character.

My usual game plan with this team is to start off with Zero, and use him to inflict as much damage on the enemy team as possible while trying to use as little super meter as possible, unless I really need to to off a significant threat. After he goes down or is placed in a disadvantageous match-up that Doctor Doom can handle a lot better, I use Doctor Doom to either continue where Zero left off and dish out damage with his combos, or zone out to build more super meter if I’m not left with much. After both of them go down, I use Amaterasu to clean up with her decent X-Factor and Veil of Mist combination, or I just try to finish them with Amaterasu’s normal combos if Zero and Doctor Doom didn’t leave her with a good amount of super meter beforehand.

Are there any characters this team is particularly weak to and I need to make changes to address that? Are there any problems with my ordering, assist choices, game plan or anything else I might have missed? If so, once again, any feedback would be really appreciated.

Surprisingly, my team of Deadpool/Taskmaster/Doom had a lot of synergy. For the thousands of matches I played online with that team, I realized how useful Taskmaster’s assist was for Deadpool’s mixup game and Doom missiles was the backbone of my keepaway. It was my trademark as a player. Taskmaster greatly benefited from Deadpool’s quick work (unblockables) and the missiles. Al three characters are also effective anchors. The team works well in any order. So, the team is actually not as “terrible” as you think. However, I feel like I use way too many derpy mechanics for my own good and that I need to switch.
I’m already beginning to learn how to play as Dormammu, a top 5 character who greatly benefits from Doom and Deadpool’s assists.
I’ll also make an attempt to learn Dante as well!
Would a team of Dormammu (a) / Deadpool (b) / Doom (a/b) be effective?
And eventually, Dormammu (a) / Dante (a) / Doom (a) ?

Any Popular anchor : Vergil,Hawkeyes,Spencer and let say Wesker will demolish Chris with so much ease.

What I meant by no synergy is that some character have way more…ehh…Hidden Missile work on every single team but something Jam Session or Cold Star or Lariat or tatsu might be the perfect one.

When you play 1000 you end up with a game plan and you know your move and team synergy and end up with great personal combo for that particular team.

Also Didnt you suggest to play a resident evil team?Anyway…

Dormammu on point is good…but a lot of player think he might not be the best suited to be on Point simply because he have bad match up against Wolverine and Other Rush down monster.

For Dormammu I suggest Hidden Missile simply because you can perform a solid Chipping Lockdown.And…I dont quite remember the Third member I was about to suggest…But DormXDoom is in the top 10 shell for sure.

Okay, so my xbox broke and I just recently repaired it, so now I’m back to marvel. I was wondering what a good Vergil team would be, I used to run Wesker(gunshot) Vergil (rapid slash) and Doom (Plasma beam) but I’m getting bored of wesker. My question is, who would work well with vergil, and what makes someone work well with vergil?

I’m willing to learn any character by the way

From what I’ve heard, Taskmaster arrows assist is probably the best projectile assist for Vergi. But, you have Doom so that’s not really a concern. I guess any character that can greatly benefit from plasma beam can work on that team. Maybe Spencer??? Yipes uses Spencer/Vergil really well.

@Walk the agony: Should I put Deadpool on point then? Deadpool has a much better match up against Wolverine than people give him credit for.

good stuff man, I’ve been watching your vids for a while and actually decided to pick up nova because of it. I’ve been playing skrull since vanilla and picked up frank for umvc3 and nova fits this team great. I need to work on Nova’s instant overheads though cause air dash --> j.H into c.M only goes so far lol. Is that a grav pulse L that you do in the air before the nova super?

Dorm is still viable on point against most of the cast the issue is that wolverine is everywhere…but still you can learn to counter Wolverine.

Well Vergil can be played on Point or Anchor…If vergil is on point he benefit from a OTG assist or else learn the Ramza Loop.

I would go with Zero,Dante,Vergil as the best team for vergil (AKA All high tier team)

but Trist,Dante,Vergil is also a really good team (Aka team DMC)

My Vergil team is: Vergil/Wesker/Phoenix or Captain America/Taskmaster/Vergil…but those are purely personal and I don’t recommend those…but it’s just to show you that Vergil can fit in Most team.

I am thinking about a Phoenix Wright team. I know he’s the worst character in the game, but I like his gameplay and there are many good things he can do.

I now have Phoenix Wright (Paperwork - High) / Dante (Jam Session) / Hulk (Gamma Wave)

My strategy is to use Dante’s assist and Maya to collect some evidence. I can do this with any character bar Spencer, Spiderman and Ghost Rider. Teleporters are predictable and I can punish them with an air grab (Dante) or a c.L (Vergil, Wesker) and then follow up with an Air Combo to get a free piece of evidence.

When I collected all three pieces, I do Crossover Combination when I have 2 bars (Million Dollars - Steel Samurai Smelting) and then land an easy Objection. If I don’t have enough meter, I switch into Dante and land a TAC to do an Air Objection.

My main problem is that I don’t know what to do when I get to Turnabout Mode. Y usually spam the finger, so I lose to keepaway characters like Doom or Hawkeye. I usually don’t have enough meter to do the Ace Attorney Super. Also, characters with fly like Nova or Iron Man avoid the finger easily and anything I can do is switch into Dante and kill them.

Hulk is my anchor, and it’s too good. He is brainless to play, and the damage he does is ridiculous. And that super armor is godlike. The problem is that I want to have Strider in my team. He is a good anchor too and that Vajra assist helps Phoenix a lot when finding evidence and when countering keepaway characters. And Strider needs 3 meters to do Uroboros, and usually I don’t have that meter because I already used it with Phoenix’s Ace Attorney.

So I want to build it around Morrigan… and also really like Chun Li and Tron Bonne.
Do they even remotely fit together? I thought maybe I could include Magneto
or Sentinel but I’m not sure.

I have many teams. I would like your input on a couple.

Cap’n(charging star), Chris(grenade toss), Trish, (Peekaboo). For me I think this team works well. Captain america does just about the same damage on all of his combos and I figured out he can’t extend them in the corner so Chris’ assist gives him another launch. Trish is great for defense too. Once cap is gone Chris still seems to work well with trish and she is a hell beast in xf3. Thoughts on that team?

Chun(hyakuretsukyaku), Cap’n(Sheild slash), Arthur(daggers). I just don’t know but i like it and i want it to work. LOL!
I don’t play Wesker…ever.

The main team I’ve been using has been

Viper (Seismo) Strange (EoA) and Hawkeye (Greyhound). I use greyhound mostly to help viper get in and the strange assist for incoming mixups, or as a GTFO assist in matchup specific situations like Firebrand. Viper rarely gets a chance to be an assist but I like seismo assist as it can extend Strange combos somewhat as well as lead to otg Hawkeye trap shenannigans (Which I haven’t quite mastered).

DHCs on this team work really well too as Hawkeye and Strange have those quick full screen supers. Burst limit even dhc’s very easily into the strange triple.

What I feel the team lacks is a combo extender like how Marlinpie uses doom plasma beam assist into launch.
A viper combo on this team looks like ground series, launch series, otg, ex burn kick (call Eye), burn kick H x2, launch, air H, air H otg, super.
The eye scales damage pretty hard though.

Would Viper (Seismo) Strange (Bolts) Hawkeye (Ragtime) be better? Bolts does lock down for longer than Greyhound but can miss some smaller characters that greyhound wouldn’t miss. Ragtime does give the team some needed up screen coverage and could be an interesting combo extender with viper from midscreen.

Any thoughts/ideas?

I’m thinking of switching Ryu with Nova or someone else possibly.

Also if any one wants to teach a noob in fighting games the ropes, that would be great.

Hey guys! New to SRK and strengthening my team in UMVC3 is something I need some help with. So here it is:
Zero(anything)/Storm(Whirl)/Doom(Plasma)

This is the team I used in vanilla. My BEST character is Zero so I’d always have him on point. What I would do is call in doom’s assist midscreen and use a M Hienkyaku(teleport) to cross over the opponent and before I land toss in a Down H to open him up for a bnb and if the meter allowed, an easy hail DHC. If that didn’t kill him, I’d attempt another Hienkyaku mixup (maybe the H version for an ambiguous.) with the doom assist to finish it. My storm is decent and I’ve got a pretty clutch doom.

I took a break from Marvel for a while and when I come back, I keep getting bodied by nova kindergarden combos and nemesis tentacle and hyper(super?) armor spam. The dog seems to give me trouble as well with her stupid standing M spam to get in and then forward H spam into an eventual grab into hyper into dhc for days.

Well is my team garbage in UMVC3? Was it garbage to begin with? I was decent in Vanilla, but not in this version. Not at all. Am I playing my team wrong or does my strategy need some fine tuning?? Thanks guys.

The tricky thing here is you have two ‘liability’ characters. Dante second makes sense since he provides a safe DHC. But if you know what you’re doing Dante should be your anchor.

If you go with Strider I think it’s time for dante’s Weasel Shot for lockdown to gather evidence and follow up with Maya and of course Strider’s Vajra for obvious reasons.
