Yes I’m still playing Shuma. Alright, I was going to start hitting the lab again testing how Shuma can assist the characters I mentioned.
Drones?.. I’ll either run Unibeam or Repulsor Blast. I’ve never played Sentinel, but I’ve seen how many bad matchups he has. Anything’s worth a shot, sure. I idolized Joker’s team before he dropped IM for Zero.
Ok I lied about my last question.
Could this team be any effective: Wolv/Verg/Gouki
It could be functional, but Akuma would be better off as Doom w/ Plasma Beam. Wolvie gets just as much out of Plasma Beam as he does Tatsu, but Vergil gets way more out of Plasma Beam than Tatsu.
Play Wolvie/Vergil/Frank. Frank works well for both Logan and Yung Verge.
I eliminated Chris from the list because his DHC isn’t as good as I thought it would be. Only 7 more characters to find a way to eliminate.

I’ve tried to look for this myself a while back; the best ones I could come up with were Mag/Morri/Jam or Zero/Morri/Jam. You can basically run away and build meter first and punish attempts to catch you. Thrax can rush but noone does that because it’s risky, but it’s an option still; Mag/Morri/Jam and Zero/Morri/Jam both have the option to rush. Morri/Jam can mimic Sent/mando footsies and lockdown, with fireballs instead of stomps. With these teams, though, you don’t get Hail and Drones assist or anything analogous. You could go Storm/Morri/Jam since you get runaway and Hail, but you won’t always kill unless you TAC or hard tag or some shit.
The biggest problem you’re facing is that there are almost no teams in this game that run the same gameplan as thrax. Run+build meter is still good, but almost no shell exclusively runs that gameplan; the closest you can get is Magneto or Zero+good assist which does a mix of run, rush, and keepaway. The closest thing to Sent that I could think of is Morrigan, but you have to play her a lot differently just so you can get the similarity. Morrigan played optimally is nothing like Sent. You can go Sent/Jam instead of Morri/Jam, but then runaway becomes pointless since you don’t build meter anyway. So yeah, I don’t think you can get a perfectly-translated thrax in this game. Plus 90% isn’t exactly special in this game anymore.
So Ryu Y/ Vergil Y/ Shuma A. Do you think this could be good or viable?
Yeah it’s like a worse version of Wolverine/Vergil/Shuma which a friend of mine runs. Shuma’s a good partner for Vergil. Remember that you’re only really working with one real neutral assist and Rapid Slash is really only safe (for Ryu) to throw out when you already have some lockdown established. And be sure to find Ryu combos that save the wall bounce or learn the sword loops that don’t use the wall bounce.
I like to think that Ryu has things to offer as well. It may be me but I don’t think of him as a poor man’s Wolvie. If and think it is at least a combined poor man version of Logan and Akuma.
Calling Ryu a poor man’s Wolvie is a huge insult to Wolverine. I just said it was a worse variation of the team listed.
Ryu is hardly comparable to Wolvie anyway …
Hey guys, I have a question or two about a team I normally run outside of counter-picking.
So, I feel I don’t need an assist dedicated to neutral(my typical point character, Thor covers neutral pretty darn well, he has every tool needed and I can dispel doubt if you want to ask, so be my guest, I LOVE talking Marvel), but he gets a ton out of good lockdown assists, so I have Dormammu with Dark Hole as my 2nd in order.
It works pretty damn well when I play to my intelligence(most FGC heads have NO IDEA how much I play super ignorant), so it is set to go?
I think so and have seen no trouble except when I’m the weak link; second opinions?
Mechwarrior, I’ve always thought you were decent, but your team just didn’t make much sense. I think Thor/Dorm and then either Sentinel, Doom, Dante or Strange would be the best bet.
Sentinel and Dante are the more effective anchors if you use X-Factor and your brain.
I didn’t make much sense pre-2014, yeah(I was ignorant/dense as all hell), and I wasn’t focusing my actually considerable raw intelligence(135 at least, I’ve been tested) and reasoning skills on this game at all; I had my head in clouds and my focus on nothing productive in any way. Paying bills/keeping up a house/letting go of trivial anger that isn’t really warranted(I don’t get salty over losses in vidya anymore, I take them with my dignity and composure intact now) probably were parts of why.
Mighty Spark >>> Butterbeam, I’ve used L Spark and beat M Plasma beams either by stuffing it or by out prioritizing altogether lol.
Sentinel I have no use for, I have Dark Hole for lockdown, and Spark for ranged battles(Spark cleanly beats Drones by speed or power as well as butterbeam).
Dante? HAM Session/Weasel Shot are already having anything the can do covered by Dark Hole/Spark on point.
Strange would pull the team down, not up; I have a beam on point(Bolts are redundant then, and Eye of Avocado kinda < Dark Hole), and Strange <<<< all 3 of my characters.
As for Sent and Dante being better than Skrull anchor… They are more versatile tool-wise via their beams/projectiles/whatnot, but Stone Smite/Skrulls other assist add too much to warrant me using an assist that offers something I already had(again, Thor point Spark/Dark Hole assist cover all that). Both would require me to seriously adjust my guard breaks and stuff too, LOL.
I would have to spend at least a few months learning those 2 to have them as competent anchors, too. I’m done training from scratch.

Jam Session is a better assist for Dorm anyway - on incoming, you can get at least two charges before they can even touch the ground. Plus, it’s arguably better against zoners and when you want to play it safe. Or, when you want to lock them down for mixup purposes.
Strange is also a good assist as well. While it is a beam, and is redundant like you said, the fact is that it allows you snipe other incoming assist while at the same time approaching with Thor. It’s also a pretty good command grab setup.
Plus, last time I checked Skrull has no safe DHC? Also, as you say, once Thor dies then your ranged battle game drops significantly - well, Dorm does have his fullscreen holes, pillars and DM, but against the likes of Magneto, Vergil or Zero then it would be hard trying to lock 'em down. If you don’t like them though, then try Missiles or Rapid Slash - well, Vergil ain’t that good for Thor, but it’s Satan.
If you’re still satisfied with your team, then… well, I say SS/Thor/Dorm.
Actually, where’s serp, our resident Thor player? He’ll probably have better advice.
I run Skrull/Thor/Dorm as a matchup dependent team.
I usually don’t need an assist for Dormammu on incoming, Thor point = a massive battery = hold these spicy meatballs!.
Otherwise I agree on the theory end of it.
On zoners… I’m Dormammu with a solid neutral assist. DORMAMMU does the zoning then. lol
Vergil ain’t a problem like people ascribe him to be since they all have bad habits I can punish with a one touch into death/Thor kinda plays even or has the advantage
if you’re non-autopilot like I am now.
As for Serp, I don’t really need his advice; I’ve gotten far and am going farther, I’ll ask SPECIFICALLY for advice when I need it.

Meh.
I was just explaining why they were viable choices. However, since you were obviously not going to pick them up, don’t know why I bothered. Good luck, always happy to see nonstandard characters to be used.
What’s your gamer tag - your username?
Alright, I’ve developed a Spider-Man/Iron Man/Sentinel team. My robot is horrid, but there’s always room for improvement.
Is it a good team? Pros and cons, if you will.

The teams alright. You’re gonna have to use a combo that brings you to the corner cause maximum spider dhc into proton Cannon is bad. Other than that, you could probably run either assist for ironman. For spiderman, there’s really nothing that drones does that Missiles doesn’t do better. But I imagine drones is probably better in the neutral for ironman.
