I would love some critique on my team. Been running Hsien-ko (Pendulum)/Nemesis (Launcher Slam)/Deadpool (Katana-Rama)
I usually go Golden Ko then swap over to Pool and zone the hell out of everyone and build meter then swap over to Nemesis who’s helped out by Pool’s katanarama. What do you guys think?
Well, I usually use Hawkeye’s A-assist as a way to get in with Vergil, but Taskmaster has a similar one (I dont know which one is better). After that, I use his Power Shot Hyper to DHC out of Vergil’s Bubble Hyper. When he’s in I zone a little but mostly I like to be more technical and combo more. I know that Taskmaster can zone, but I dont know if he’ll be a good addition to Vergil and Wesker, hence my question here lol. I would like Taskmaster to go 2nd on my team like Hawkeye is.
A side by side comparison would also be extremely helpful.
i’m new to UMVC3 and have been playing with dante/___/amaterasu. I am not very good, but I feel like I’m comfortable with dante and amaterasu, but I can’t find a character for the middle slot.
My normal strategy has been to spam dante’s qcb+h and pray that i hit and just mash buttons with amaterasu, though, but even then, Finding a character in the middle has been tough.
Move Ammy to the 1st slot, Dante 2nd, and maybe try Hulk or Nemesis. High health characters might work for you, give it a try.
You mentioned you’re new and that you just mash with Ammy. Amaterasu has good combos when you learn them. Id suggest hitting the training room and working on your combos. Also, KNOW YOUR CHARACTERS. This is very important. You need to know what your 3 characters are capable of. Look up videos on youtube and research the forums with your characters. The forums have a specific page for every character (combos, movelist, mixups, resets).
If you play on Xbox add me: Kiinkey Twinkie
I’ll be more than happy to train with you and give you feedback.
Taskmaster
Health: 1,100,000 - Well above average, but just shy of the heavy characters.
Mobility: Slow walk and dash, but if you can master the Web Swing he can be terrifying!
Damage: Hits pretty dang hard, but isn’t as fast as the rush-down characters.
Specials: Let’s focus on ranged for now…
Aim Master deals 60,000 per hit, has several different variations, but comes out slower than Hawkeye’s (I think?)
Hawkeye’s Quickshot: Greyhound deals 50,000 per Arrow.
Why does Taskmaster deal more damage with arrows than Hawkeye?
No idea… but I think it is because Taskmaster can be so much slower.
Hypers: Taskmaster has Legion Arrow, the massive barrage of arrows. Multi-directional and does good chip.
His other one is Aegis Counter which is, as the name implies, a counter attack.
To summerize: Taskmaster can sometimes be slow, but has better stamina and damage than most other characters,
not to mention he has a good array of both ranged and melee options.
Hawkeye
Health: 900,000 - Pretty average, depending on how you are calculating it.
Mobility: Slow walking speed and dash, but can get around using his “Trick Maneuver” moves…
Damage: Actually pretty average damage, for instance: Taskmaster’s Crouching H deals 80K and Hawkeye’s does 70K.
Specials: Too many to cover with ease really,
but for comparison purposes let’s just say Hawkeye has MANY ranged options,
compared to Taskmaster’s one Aim Master one.
Hypers: Gimlet is fast, tracks the opponent and deals 250K damage, basically the perfect punisher.
Kiss of Fire is interesting… hitting ground opponents yields sub-par results, but if you can combo into the air…
Tag Team Special deals 430,000 damage, but I would rather DHC personally for about the same damage for 1 less meter.
Summery: Hawkeye has better mobility, barely, due to Trick Maneuvers.
Hawkeye is better at zoning, but deals slightly less damage than Taskmaster.
Hawkeye also has significantly less health than Taskmaster.
But for advantages: Hawkeye can hit you from just about anywhere!
That was incredible. This helps alot dude! Thanks so much! But even after this, I really dont know who to pick lol The main reason I have Hawkeye on my team is because of his assist and Gimlet, and because he’s easy to hit people with his slide. I really dont know who to put in the middle of Vergil and Wesker So confused.
Well, if you break the characters down to their basic play style it’s easier to figure out who you’d rather play as.
Are you more inclined to zone or rush down?
If you prefer zoning, Hawkeye is the obvious choice as that’s all he can really do.
Taskmaster is kind of a hybrid character. He can zone with arrows if it’s necessary, but doesn’t have much of a problem getting in the opponents face either.
If there’s one type of gameplay you prefer over the other, you can base your decision on that.
The other thing you might want to consider is your overall team chemisty.
When Vergil is down and your second character comes in, they’re only going to be backed up by Samurai Edge.
Who benefits more from this?
The thing with Hawkeye is he thrives with the use of particular assists. Hidden Missles, Jam Session, assists that take up space and help him improve his zoning game. The problem with this team equation is once Hawkeye comes out, it’s essentially like you’re playing him as your anchor since Samurai Edge isn’t doing anything to improve his zoning capabilities, and he doesn’t need a low-hitting assist since you’re not going to want to be in your opponents face anyways.
He’s pretty much fighting on his own which, in my opinion, isn’t very desirable.
Taskmaster on other hand does gain some benefit from Samurai Edge. Spidey Swing> j.H + Samurai Edge is an easy unblockable, and since Taskmaster has no issues with getting into the opponents face you can probably take advantage of Wesker far more often then you would with Hawkeye, if ever.
Of course, if you’re just looking to pick a character based on their assist with no disregard for anything else, Triple Arrow >>>> Aim Master all day, every day.
I cant express enough how much help this was. I usually run Hawkeye simply for his assist and his Gimlet. But now that I think about it, Taskmaster has basically the same assist, just a tad slower. Im going to give this new team a try and see how it goes (Vergil (Judgement Cut)/ Taskmaster (Aim Master)/ Wesker (Samurai Edge). Again I cannot express my thanks enough, you have helped me immensely with your post!
hmmm If I may, I think I will take this information to heart and use taskmaster in my team so it will be Vergil/Taskmaster/Amaterasu. I know it is weird that I have Ammy on anchor, but she saves me so much online, her level 3 X-factor is crazy fast and damaging, and she can hold on her own without the help of any assists. What I am wondering is if I should have taskmaster as my point character instead of vergil
i want to play vergil and doom but im missing a third character.
dont know who i should pick…
any suggestions for good synergy with those 2?
maybe someone i can use on last spot because i dont feel comfortable getting in with vergil or doom with no assists.
im willing to put in all the time and work i need even for a new character.
I’m currently running Doom (Plasma Beam) / Zero (Ryuenjin) as interchangeable point characters with Dante (Weasel Shot) in third slot. I’m looking to change out Dante because I’m making very little progress in improving with him (I started with him halfway through vanilla’s era and I still can’t Bold Cancel -> Volcano consistently, neither on stick or pad). Any ideas on who would be good to support these guys.
Was also thinking of making a second team with Strider/Trish, but lost as to who to add to that.
People, I’ve been playing this games for over 3 weeks and haven’t managed to build a good team yet. I’ve tried Wolv/Vergil/Ghost Rider, Wolv/Vergil/Frank, and now I’m using Wolv/Ryu/Taskmaster. I do get some wins with this last team, but I’m get beaten down real hard most of the times. I know some really damaging combos with Wolverine but just one with Ryu and another with Taskmaster.
Another HUGE issue is that I don’t know how to use assists at all. When I try, it’s only so I can lose two characters instead of one. Same goes to team aerial combos, I never remember to use them and that’s making things harder as well.
Today I tried another team after noticing some patterns (read it as “who I’m losing to the most”). Nemesis/Wolverine/She-Hulk or Taskmaster. Haven’t tried them online yet because I was already tired of getting owned.
