If we’re talking just Iowa, it’s pretty dead. I can think of myself and maybe two others that will show and have every intention to play it. There might be some 2D guys coughMikecough that will pot monster it; HOWEVER, the turnout for Tag should be pretty good, and a lot of those guys also play SCV, so expect a decent turnout for it.

No clue why I haven’t followed this thread, swear I did. Can I make a suggestion? If there’s an 8 man tourney (hell even 7) can 2nd place get their money back? That’s a bitch having to go through the long set in grand finals for nothing. I don’t think anyone getting first would mind $70 instead of $80 back.

I’m fine with that. I just figured most people would rather have the all-or-nothing format if turnout is low.

Just registered for the venue and umvc3. Quick question: If we pre-register for the venue and a game/games, how does one prove that they did so the day of?
There shouldn’t be any real need to do that. I’m going to have extra copies of the brackets (that we’ll try to keep as up-to-date as possible) at the registration table that people can look at in-between matches if they want to. I’m also going to have all the tournaments go through all Round 1 matches and announce when that is done, just as a double-check to make sure I didn’t miss anyone on the bracket. And if I somehow did, that would still give me the opportunity to put them in the bracket.
I’ll have a list with me of everyone who pre-registered that will have your real names and whatnot on it. As a precaution, I would definitely bring an ID of some sort with you, but the only time that would come into play is if we called a match and two people tried to claim they were the same person. But whoever was lying would get an ass-whoopin’, I promise you that.
EDIT - TLDR: If you pre-reg, you’re already considered “checked in,” so just show up the time your game is supposed to start.

Just a heads-up to everyone, I will probably shut down the pre-registration next Tuesday or Wednesday, just to give me time to transfer everything to my bank account so I can withdraw it for payouts.

3 of us are coming down on Friday and should get there probably no later than 8, is there any hookup or anything within the area going on before or after the tournament. We are also staying Saturday night as well.

When you say “hookup,” are you talking games? I would say pretty much all of our 2D guys live in Des Moines and I’m guessing they’re going to drive here that morning (so they won’t be here Friday night). Not sure if maybe some of the STL guys or something are gonna be up…? Haven’t heard much from the other scenes.
EDIT - Also, I’m sure people will be staying as long as they can to get their money’s worth. We have the shop basically for as long as we need. I’m going to try to fly through these brackets, so hopefully you’ll have plenty of time for casuals after.
