OBJECTION! - The Phoenix Wright Thread

Well as far as the practicality goes on this ToD its basically depends if you can land a clean hit in the corner with evidence and convert off it. I’ll talk a bit more about how to convert with evidence in a bit, but basically the goal is to land 3-4 BtW on a cornered opponent, and that alone should clear 1 mil damage meterless. To do this you want to put your opponent in the corner in a position to land BtW with as little hitstun scaling as possible which is why the Thor ToD piles as much damage on while thor is still standing since it won’t affect the hitstun scaling on the combo. That being said :f::h:,:qcb::h:,:f::h:(dizzy) into the first BtW seems to be a decent and consistent way to start this combo and you can add evidence like the cell or vase for more damage. Here’s some ways you can convert off evidence.

You can link any thing off of the vase from far away or the cell phone if it hits a grounded enemy. You can link c.H after a watch at max finger range and you can link j.H off of folder for a more scaled combo at the cost of a ground or wall bounce. For every thing else its generally impossible to follow up on random evidence but there are ways to covert off the knife, watch, and photo by combining them with other evidence. Technically speaking the vase is the fastest evidence in terms of startup and recovery so we can use this to cancel the recovery on slower evidence (cell, knife) with the vase and convert off it any of the evidence hits. Same goes for the cell phone which when used first can supplement basically every other piece of evidence (as long as your doing a good job of covering yourself with the second evidence).

As far as opening people up goes, cell phone and photo can brute force their way through most zoning games (save hawkeye and chris), but scoring hits is going to take creativity. I tend to react to certain beams with the vase because I can convert off the trade for instance, or if I pin them in the corner and their just blocking I throw paper and call maya for an unblockable. Hope that helps =)

If you start with a j.:h:, for example, is there a way to get a similar loop?

Actually, are there any good followups after using :f::m: rather than j.:h: in the unblockable?

So, my “meterless” ToD seems impractical (and it is impractical). So, I’ve been playing a bit with this Break the Witness loop in Turnabout mode so I’ll upload later on a video showing it as a practical ToD in X-Factor! (Instead of the c. :h: loop, which also works and it can be more devastating if you do one of this:

Better

  1. c. :h: xx XFC xx ( c.:h: x3) xx c. :h: jc. :h: xx land xx s. :f:+:h:, :s: j. :d:+:h:

Variation but the last hit might miss
2) c. :h: xx XFC xx ( c.:h: x2) xx c. :h: jc. :h: xx land xx s. :f:+:h:, :s: x (wait a bit) j. :d:+:h: xx j. :h:
Stay tuned!

Can we make a “meterless” ToD off a Maya unblockable?

Tried it but only got 1,078,900 (After confirming the unblockable) + 108,000 (Maya’s Super Chip Damage before she trips) = 1,186,900
63,100 of damage are missing in order to convert it into a full “meterless” ToD…

How much does it build? Can we stick a hyper or two at the end and get a kill, net zero or plus?

That said, 1,186,900 is nothing to sneeze at. Only Thor, Haggar, Tron, and Hulk are not killed.

Heck, 1,078,900 meterless is rather impressive. Only the aforementioned plus She-Hulk, Nemesis, Chris, and Taskmaster survive.

Builds enough to do another Maya super after the stun and a :h:-Break the Witness to deal the last blow…

I forgot to mention that Overhead (blocked) xx Maya’s last hit and then :h:-BtW is a bit tricky and might fail. If the opponent Advance Guards on time he can pushblock you, too.

Shouldn;t you wait for maya to do the low hit THEN do the j.:h: in the blockstun?

Byyyyy the way… I played few offline matches and can’t do sh*t against Vergil (w/Magneto Assists)… I’m starting to get salty… lol!

Any tips… >_>?

In what manner? Can’t collect evidence safely? Can’t land the Objection? Can’t open them up in TB?

Oh, sorry, I tried it with the Slip-Up, haha! My bad.
I’ll try it with j. :h: now.

Edit: Collect Evidence… My opponent Helmet Breaker’d all the day… and when he got a hit-confirm he X-Factored my Wright (cause he knows I can use him properly)…

Wait, did you already spend your ground bounce? It’s no good if you already have (the point is to ensure the ground bounce for a follow up.)

Steel Smelt when they get close. Make sure they’re close enough that they have to block, that they can’t (super) jump over or teleport out. Helps a lot.

Watch where you call Maya. Know your spacing so that you know where she ends up when you call her. Try to make sure she comes out right on top of you so that they can’t teleport and separate you from her.

Yeah, I saved the bounce so I could end the BtW loop with this -> j. :h: xx “Objection!” (stun).

Thanks for the tips, btw… I f…n’ hate Vergil, but Hulk takes the prize… I hope I can do well at Guadalajara and rep dat Wright…

Why Hulk?

One word… “SMASH!

Hmm. Maybe Break the Witness :l: for poking? Is it safe on block and whiff?

Guide says all versions are +14 on block, but wouldn’t the last hit whiff on crouchers?

Well, it probably works best on big guys like Hulk. Aside from that, your best pokes are j.:h: and cr.:h:. cr.:h: is also good on HUlk cause you’re outta range of the :h:.

I’m talking about Investigation mode… Trial isn’t much of a problem cause the Paperworks, I guess…

I got a random question:

Is Phoenix Wright the first ever Attorney to be a playable character in any fighting game?
