OBJECTION! - The Phoenix Wright Thread

If people are finding stuff on vergil, then we can find more on wright. Namely always solid evidence. Btw if you cancel his forward medium overhead to stance change it’s safe on block. So safe unexpected overhead on block and long knockdown time on hit.

A good mixup is cr.L to f+M and when they catch on cr.L > cr.H > st.S

So are there any combos with throwing the evidence, plus are you on frame advantage on block when you throw it,

This may be known already but you can continue the combo after Press the Witness’s crossover counter with :l: or :d::l:, unfortunately it doesn’t beat out much stuff due to it’s startup so be cautious about this before using it.

Another thing that is probably known is if you manage to kill an opponent with a DHC if you have meter you can keep calling Maya to stall the opponent coming in for a bit longer. For example you have three bars first character kills with hyper then DHC into Wright after collecting some evidences do THC :a1:+:a2: it should stall the opponent longer.

Also apparently if you hit the opponent with :h: and cancel it early into trial mode it’s a safe stance switch.

For Wright tech along with finding good evidence (which might not be possible unless if somehow we see how the evidence system is coded.):
.Wright synergy with top tier/good characters (Resets, setups, combos)
.Manipulating the folder’s position (probably not possible) cause this thing is good at absorbing projectiles just too bad it’s randomly placed.
.Anything special regarding evidences, normals, or maya.

Bad evidence is +1 on block and +2 on hit which is pretty good, regarding to combos with evidence throw here are some that I know. Discarding evidence combos can be good for setting up air grabs if it hits the opponent in the air, though the problem is that it might not work on small characters.

Investigation
:l:->:m:->:h:->:f::h:->discard -Evidence whiffs on crouching opponents.
:d::h:->discard - sets up for an air grab.
:f::m:->maya :m:->discard
(After maya :m: or :h: hits)-> discard - works better if you hit the opponent with a crossover Maya because if she hits you can just do :m:->:h:->discard.
(corner) air grab-> maya :m:->:m:->:h:->discard

Trial to Investigation
:d::h::h:->papers or vase->:h:(delay a bit)->:h:->stance change->:m:->:h:->discard - the evidence throw whiffs in the corner but you can still do an air grab setup.
:dp::l:->dash->:h::h:->stance change->:m:->:h:->discard
(corner) grab->:h::h:->discard - evidence whiffs
(corner) grab->j:h:->:m:->:h::h:->stance change->:m:->:h:->:f::h:->discard - evidence whiffs

:qcf: and :qcb: stay out really long. Anything we can do with that?

Good ol’ :d::l: to dodge beams. Does searching for evidence work for that too?

Actually, how good is the Break the Witness crossover counter?

As an assist you can use the papers to hit a tech roll forward if they press a button

Is Break the Witness still a decent pressure assist like Tatsu or Shopping Cart?

Wanna see a Wright video in there!

[]I’m sure you already know this, but what you pick up when searching for evidence is influenced by what you already have. I have yet to do a rigorous scientific test to fully determine how much it is effected, but I do know that if you already have two bad pieces of evidence, it is impossible to get a third piece of bad evidence.

]Yeah, I noticed. If I were to make another video continuing any of this tutorial business that’d be one of the things I’d mention. It’s always best to pick up another piece before getting rid of bad evidence simply because it seems more likely to work.
Evidence is a convoluted system. I wish I knew how it worked.

[*]So, after collecting 2k evidence (and destroying my hand by recording what I got) here are my findings:
No evidence:
67% good
22% bad
12% food
Two good evidence:
55% good
30% bad
15% food
both groups had 1000 samples, which makes the difference statistically significant at >95% confidence. Also of note is the fact that you get more food when you have good evidence; I’ll need to test if the same holds true for bad evidence.

stuff I found on Youtube Comments.

Order n the Court capture states. Can we do anything with this aside from Level 3? Raw tags, maybe?

Can you do this after a Break the Witness?

I’ve also been wondering about extending with OntC with other characters, but with Trial and Investigation as well.

A day ago, I tried to see if it was possible to DHC the judge into Devil Trigger for a follow up. I’m not a very good player with either Dante or Vergil at all (yet), but it seems possible. I had two problems, the first being hitstun, even off a raw OntC, and the second being meter. I’m pretty sure that a follow up combo with either character is possible (even with simple stuff I remembered, I managed to pull of 800k), but since you can’t build meter in DT, you can only finish with a super if you have 3 bars from the start of OntC -> DT. So if anyone here plays Dante or Vergil, I’d like to know if it’s possible to use OntC to do more than 800k using only two meters, that’d be great.

The reason why is because I tend to use the judge as a counter move not just to catch people off guard, but to get happy birthday’s on people with a lockdown assist. I’d be glad to spend two meter knowing that I might be able to heavily harm my opponent’s team off of one mistake.

combo-judge dhc-> sougemmu LL which some pw player has been doing since month 1. this is all w/e

Been using DHCs into Frank for a decent level up combo.

Not sure about Dante, but since you build meter with Spiral Swords, what about using that?

That does work, but I’d like to see more stuff from Dante, as I’d have to switch Dante to anchor position instead of Vergil. I’d have to tossup being able to spend two meters on THC with Maya/Million Dollars for evidence instead OntC into Swords for damage.

…And when I put it like that, it really seems like I’d need 3 meters, which doesn’t sound worth it, which is why I’m looking for Dante options.

Oh well. Guess I’ll just search a little harder then.

This a fun video to watch, also, there’s a funny part of Lythero and another PW player both landing the Objection at the same time against both of each other’s opponents’ assists!

I saw that vid. Very funny.

What’s the FASTEST Turnabout ToD? We only have 20 seconds, we better make them count. No XF, no Ace Attorney, what’s the FASTEST way to kill Thor (maybe limit yourself two-three bars at the start).

On a totally unrelated note, there was a comic in here about She Hulk, Haggar I think, and Wright. Anyone remember which page of this thread it was on?

I wanna see that

How do you land the Objection most of the time? Hit-confirm? Random? TAC? DHC? THC?

I do it by lariat assist,thc,dhc,corner throw, and tac…also do it random

It’s a mix of all those with command grab hard tags. But there are still those desperate moments when I just spam it.
