Normally, whoever attacks first wins.

so, four more years of bush…and here’s what we have to look forward to: a president with no reason to moderate his positions for a future reelection, and a congress that will gladly put the hammer down to push through as many republican policies as possible. so expect more corporate friendly regulations and laws, more tax cuts, more attacks on social programs, more secrecy, more blatant partisanship, fewer personal freedoms (unless it involves buying a gun), less effective environmental policies, a greater gap between the rich and the poor, and a bigger deficit.
oh, and there’s this: it’s estimated that the president will be able to nominate up to 3 or 4 supreme court justices, so oversight over his policies should be favorable to say the least. of course the dismantling of roe vs. wade (abortion) is inevitable.

in the days leading up to the election, most people thought the vote would pivot around a few central issues (iraq, national security and the economy). but according to exit polls, the most important issue for voters was “moral values”, which basically means “against gay marriage and abortion”. considering that ohio had a gay marriage proposal on the ballot, it’s not hard to see why Bush won their vote.
but what does this say about the differences in our country, when the idea of two men in a relationship is more offensive than going to war under false pretenses or presiding over the weakest job creation since the Great Depression? there is a disconnect going on here, one which is hard for me to understand. there is a second america out there, one with vastly different priorities. and my values must look as alien to them as theirs are to me.

Just a quick thought for all those self-rightious types who believe that Christianity is the utmost truth. All other religions believe the same thing: that their belief is the utmost truth. And they probably think that we Christians, Jews, and Catholics are misguided for believing in God just as we think that they are misguided for believing in Allah or Buddha or whoever. Don’t take offense by what I am saying. And don’t misunderstand me. I mean no harm to Christians, Jews, or Catholics, as I am one of them. I just hate it when people think that what they think is the utmost truth which just may be further from the truth.

I was making a comparison between how the president is like the father of a home(home being usa) and we are like his children(kids), and instead of fixing things at home bush(or father) jump into another families(other countries) business before our own MAJOR issues are dealt with.
