Hey guys, I’d love some feedback on some matches from a recent Xanadu weekly:

I got 3rd under IGT unknown and DRS fourthstar, match with fourthstar was close but I can do better

timestamps:

2:50:20 (against FRE$H)

4:29:40 (against Vato, then GIAC Brian)

4:56:30 (against fourthstar)

also somewhere in there is my match against unknown, I’ll try and find that

I have gotten since this tournament a better corner combo that leads into vergil loops with both bounces. I haven’t decided on a midscreen bnb yet because everything I want to use seems to be positioning-dependent and I don’t want to sacrifice damage.

any and all advice or questions about my neutral game would be hugely appreciated. Thanks guys!

Nice vid, so you said you optimized the raw tag tech, meaning tag into Mag does more damage than tag into Doom?

The difference in damage is pretty insignificant from what I recall, I just happened to use Mags in the video. If you’re doing as long of a combo as hitstun will allow post raw tag, DHC’ing to Vergil, and using the missiles extension I use to get an extra round trip loop at the end, you’ll be fine. More than fine really. So I wouldn’t really worry about which character you’re raw tagging into, as long as it is one that won’t consume your ground and wall bounces. Doom fits those requirements, so he’s good to go if Mags gets bopped.

Also I just found another dirty option you can implement into your blistering swords game, if you like to abuse them like me :stuck_out_tongue:

With swords activated: dash+ call missiles at the same time, H+S to activate blistering swords, immediate ground throw. Dash up once, high time, trick down ASAP (missiles hit), normal jump MHS (if done correctly, the S does not hit, but provides the spacing for blistering swords to juggle the oppoonent down. The swords fire by themselves.) After the last blistering sword hits, cr. H, stinger xx L teleport, cr. H, stinger, S, sj. H, TAC into infinite.

Blistering swords are soooooo good. And it’s really convenient that the community as a whole accepts that you shouldn’t pushblock swords, so getting in with them is pretty free. Once these other Vergil players step up their game, I think the community is going to find that pushblocking swords is 100000x safer. I’ve started doing it already, but there’s my two cents for the day.

It’s H+ assist xx M disruptah, reverse tiger knee M disruptah. Cancel H into M disruptah quickly, and when you see magneto close his legs input Up, Down, Down forward, Forward M xx tempest

Improved Vergil/Dante/strider bnb. It’s mainly about the initial extender, this does ALOT more damage.

That actually does less damage. Might build more meter though I haven’t really checked. Something to remember when trying to optimize Vergil’s damage.

minimum scaling on normals-5%
minimum scaling on specials-20%
minimum scaling on supers-35%

You really want to be stuffing as many M’s, H’s and S’s in as you can get early in the combo, then start going for special heavy assist extensions. Try out LH->stinger->rising sun->sj.MMHS->cr.H+vajra->S->round trip->SH->judgement cut L->cr.H->stinger->delay SH->judgement cut L->cr.H+jam session->stinger->round trip->cr.H->judgement cut L->spiral swords ect. You get 640k before the first super.

Doing round trip assist extensions too early really cuts your damage

Just started playing Vergil. Any Tips?

Dont throw out random s.H or S if you aren’t sure it’s gonna hit. Charge round trip in neutral and combine that with triple arrows, teleports and rapid slash for left/right mixups. Dont drop combos. Watch how yipes or flocker runs Vergil/Hawk duo.
