is dive kick useful against sagat?
Yea it is its the cross over dive kick that isn’t useful, see if you land a normal dive kick you can combo if you do it right or just bait out those Tiger uppercuts, its just the whole wake up game of cross over dive kicks is useless vs him since he can hit you even if you hit him
Also thanks for the help with bison, my friend plays bison and the moment he has more hp he runs away and spams the HK and always keeps me away with it
When doing the GT to Ultra on Rog keep holding forward until the last hit and then do the ultra motion very quickly. Its almost like doing the dragon punch motion then the fire ball motion. I can only do it with medium and heavy GTs.
I’ve been messing around with it in practice… I think the timing for hp>h.GT is just as hard as a sweep or something else that’s going to get you jab SRK’d again.
I’m thinking standing HK might be best.
Still looking for help against Bison’s S.RH. I tried the pokes but he still beats them, its impossible to do jack
what about not jumping at him maybe trying to play a bit of footsies? or using EX tornado against whiffed std.HK?
If you read my post before I also said that Im trying to roll at him, even when i dash he just dashes back, Ill try EX Tornado since it sucks people in but Trying to draw out a move that has little to no recovery (or so it seems) isn’t hard since it can be abused. Im just trying to find a move that will help me get in on him, Messah gets hit by it, GT gets hit by it, DK get hit by it, the roll gets hit by it, the jumps get hit by it. I just cannot find out what’s good vs it because that move REALLY irritates me
vs Bison:
- Look for his Roundhouse, you can c.Roundhouse it on whiff.
- Your EX SS will beat his EX Headstomp everytime. Every. Time. Wait a bit for max damage.
- Punish teleport with c. Roundhouse on reaction. React to it. No excuses, just do it.
- If you get placed in the corner, DO NOT JUMP OUT. This is the most important aspect of the Bison vs. Rufus match!! You have over 1100 life and his throw does 130-ish (?). He has to throw you 9 times to kill you. Just block. As you block, you gain meter, so he cant do it all day. Eventually he will jump / EX Headstomp. Do Rufus’ command roll or EX Messiah or EX SS and you’re out.
- You can mix quick, low divekicks with a high jump ~ delayed Divekick (i.e. top of the screen), which causes Bison’s s.Roundhouse to whiff and get CH, free combo.
- DO NOT DO EX MESSIAH WHEN HE HAS ULTRA, unless you have three bars and MASH the Short out. EX Cancel and you’re safe. Play without it if he has ultra.
- There is a weak mixup of Quick Messiah ~ Short followup and doing nothing after Messiah, which fucks up the timing for Bison’s Ultra counter. His Ultra cannot be mashed, so he has to guess if you’re gonna do it quick or not at all. This is a very weak mixup. You risk 400+ to hit for 100+. I only tell you this just in case it helps you once or twice in the future.
This is all really good advice. Not sure about the last point though… no matter what timing I delay the short follow up or not do any follow up at all, I always get beaten by a reversal Ultra.
walk forward. walk back. bait the s.hk. ex gt on reaction
So, what’s Rufus worst matchup? Thanks in advance!
IMO- Sagat or Zangief. I’d go with Gief.
There’s an entire thread where people discuss this, btw:

I don’t really think Gief is too bad as long as your reaction is on point. Biggest cause for concern with Gief is his rick flair s. mp will stuff a lot of your pokes.
Hi Rufus users this won’t take a minute.
I have a few survey questions for Sakura Forums Research.
WE are keen to know the opinions of the vs Sakura match up across the character forums.
[]What’s the best approach to beating a average/good Sakura player?
[]How do you beat a defensive Sakura and how do you beat an offensive one?
If you want decent answers you should be more specific with your questions.
To beat a Sakura you just play safe until you score a knockdown. Then divekick followed by tight block strings mixed up with grabs and/or more divekicks. The only answer she has on wake up is EX SRK which gets stuffed by divekicks.
I’ve never fought a Sakura that was on one spectrum of being offensive and defensive; usually a good mix of both. Just go on the offensive with Rufus has no bars and bait EX Messiah by mixing block strings with neutral jump (be careful of EX Strike tho).
Thanks I omni this is enough!
I just wanted a general opinion from each character section so we can stop beng flow chart sakuras and learn to switch things up a bit now and again.
I’ll take this back with me now.
For the Dhalsim matchup, I learned that you want to get to between 3/4 and 1/2 screen distance away from sim, and use neutral jump/FADC mixups. Once you get into this range it becomes a guessing game for Sim, neutral jump Dive Kick stuffs most of sims standing normals from this distance. Also, Air to air j.HP stuffs most, if not all, of Sim’s air to air moves (Note: you have to j.HP before sim does a move in the air otherwise your move will get stuffed.)
While playing casuals the other day, I seem to have been beating 'Gief’s lariats with a jumping forward HK. Is this just luck, or is it really reliable?
You might have been hitting him towards the end of his lariat in order for that to work. If u tried this at the beginning or during the startup of gief’s lariat you’d usually trade or lose. And if you trade he gets a free ex green hand. If he’s about sweep distance away from you doing lariats, try neutral jumping and using HK. From what i have seen it stuffs lariat clean.
Against balrog what beats his Jump back HP?
